Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

It wasn't me, Jack! But that hand warmer brings back memories from years ago. My dad used to take my brother and me ice fishing on Oneida Lake. No ice shanty, no snowmobile, no gas powered ice augur. Dragged our gear out onto the ice on a sled, used a homemade ice chisel (spud) to chop through the foot or more of ice. We'd get our tip ups in the water and huddle around a pathetic little wood fire, shivering with our teeth rattling!

We each had one of those handwarmers in our pocket, thank the Lord! I've never been that cold again in my life!

John, no flame. They just kind of smolder, but they are warm! I sure remember them fondly!
Sorry about that Gary, but that's pretty cool you remember that type of handwarmer :) Your ice-fishing sounds pretty hard-core my friend! Even here, fishing can get pretty cold, but not THAT cold! 🥶 I used to fish for pike in the winter as a boy, but ice was uncommon. Having said that, we never had very warm clothes! :D The handwarmers with the charcoal sticks were popular with fishermen here, and I still have one, along with my Zippo handwarmer. Strangely, I rarely suffer with cold hands though - I tell people it's my cold heart! :D ;)

CelloDan CelloDan , hope you're over your bump now pal  I just checked on you, and I see you're around :)

The weather folks are currently forecasting rain here for tomorrow, but I'm hoping they get it wrong, as I'd like to head out for a walk. After a few months of not being able to use my slingshot, due to injury, my thumb is finally feeling better, so I'd like to go out and shoot a few targets :)

Hope not Rachel :) We are never prepared for snow here either!

I remember having to haul in snow in the winter of '79, which was a real cold one here. I was living in a house without hot-running water, and when the pipes froze, we had no water at all  Hope you'll be OK
I'm OK, Jack, thanks. My bathtub drainpipe froze, but it doesn't seem to have cracked, so everything's alright. It's sunny and 37 now, so ice is melting. It's going to get cold again tonight, but it'll be dry at least.

Thanks Harvey, that's cool you had one, was yours the Aladdin brand (which I think were sold in the US)? I delivered newspapers too, from 11 to 16, 6 evenings a week, twice on Saturday, and Sunday morning. Pay was 50p per week (around a Dollar at the time), for the first couple of years. That won't even buy you a Snickers bar here now!

Fantastic cake and Waynorth Lambsfoot pic my friend :) I had a slice of chocolate cake this morning, but it was far too sweet for me, so my pal scoffed it! :D
Thank you, Jack. I don’t remember the brand. Hope you get the chance to deploy your slingshot this weekend.
Talk about tasty look treats, that looks fantastic, you may have to lick the icing of your Lambsfoot though. 🤣
Thank you, kindly. Mostly used my fingers.

Hope you're back to normal by next week Rachel :)
Nice Big 'Un Jer  Looks like a neat calendar too

I'm sure I wouldn't either Harvey, I just saw that Aladdin brand hand-warmers were popular in the US :) Thank you very much, it might only be indoors unfortunately, unless we get better weather tomorrow
Hope all you Guardians are staying warm and dry. California has been pretty boring! It’s been extremely dry and cool. Hopefully we get more rain and snow to help with previous drought.
I'm willing you some of our rain Taylor! :D Have a great weekend :)

Good morning Guardians, well, the forum seems to be a lot better today (hope I'm not speaking too soon) :) Who'd have thought that bringing in someone who knows what they're doing, would have made such a difference  Maybe they can handle the next BF software change ;) Heavy rain and strong winds have scuppered hiking/slingshot plans I'm afraid. I have plenty of things to do at home, but they're nowhere near as much fun  Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend

Looking good Jer :)
It's a nice one.
I'm thinking I'll put my horn handles in a humidor for a while. Part of the problem is I had the water to my dehumidifier turned off, but I've never been sure that thing works anyway/ I should replace the line from the needle valve in case it's clogged.
Gotta shovel first.

Yeah, take your time with it Jer :) Sounds like you've got your hands full as it is. Weather's rotten here, but I'm worn out from grafting in the house! Just having a coffee break ;)

I like this photo of your HHB and your second love..a sling shot.😄 I don't know which side of your HHB I like better. Both are nicely matched and have such character.

I just put on some hot tea and just in time too...some nasty cold and rainy weather is passing through:eek:. However, the sun is supposed to break out in a few hours and warm things up a bit. Still will be chilly I'm afraid and the jet stream is bringing us some arctic air on Sunday .

Thank you very much Bill, I think it is my only Sheffield Lambsfoot I have, where the covers do match somewhat. My AC (below) for instance:

That was some nice vintage Sambar we managed to get hold of for those knives, got a fair bit of age on it. I suspect mine might have taken on a bit more colour if I didn't use a pocket-slip :) I'm glad you like your Hartshead Barlow so much Bill, nice pic :) Enjoy your tea, and I hope you get better weather soon. It's rotten here, I felt sorry for the mail-man!

Nice group there my friend :)

I am feeling much better, thank you !
To rule out any other possible cause for my fall as it was unwitnessed, they did an echocardiogram and booked me for a stress test and a also holter monitor for 72 hours. I'll be doing those two tests next week.

Glad you hand is better :)
Hope you get to go for a nice walk today and do some plinking :)

🤞It’s so nice, let’s hope it keeps working.
Nice picture Jack. 😎👍
Good Morning Guardians
It's the weekend... So back to the African Lambsfoot for yard work and such.
I'll return to the Charlie Lamb next week. It really is starting to grow on me and I'm finding the blade angle tolerable.
Balance has been restored to the Force. 😊
