Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good morning Guardians, hope everyone is doing OK. We have another named storm arriving today, the first of two due this week. The wind has been blowing all night, and there is heavy rain, and strong winds forecast from lunchtime. I am meeting my mate for lunch, so we might be sat there watching the world go by  He has the week off work as he's changing jobs, but he didn't pick a good week  Have a good day Guardians

Nice shots gentlemen. 😎👍

Ever since he was born, my mate's youngest lad has suffered with a whole range of food allergies, which can really make him ill. They hoped he'd grow out of them, but that hasn't happened so far unfortunately. He is vegan, but even some fruits and vegetables make him ill. Despite his severely restricted diet, he's a real sweet kid though, and never complains.

I bought some nice almond and lemon cookies at the weekend, and they were quite delicious. I noticed they were also vegan, so I thought I'd get some more as a treat for the little 'un :)

As it had stopped raining by 11.00am, I went to the shop, about 3 miles away, and bought 4 packets of the biscuits. I was just about to text my mate about them, when I remembered his lad also has a serious nut allergy :(

It was lunchtime by this point, and I decided to visit a nice Syrian restaurant that I haven't been to for a few weeks. They still had roses up from last night, and petals scattering the tables - only the former were genuine though, which I realised when I was taking a pic  :D

Falafel with tahini dip, hummus, bread, and a pot of mint tea, for under a fiver (£5 - $6.77) :)

Very interesting food along with a very interesting knife! Not sure how much I would like the food but I really like the HHB.
Thanks Todd 🤣

Rotten! :( Hope it's fixed soon Jer

Really cool photo Jack. Sorry that your weather is so gloomy. Hope it improves. Your HHB looking mighty fine.

Good morning Guardians. I had a great day yesterday on the links - weather was fantastic. As far a my shot making was concerned...it was hit or miss but I had enough good shots to keep bringing me back to the game. Got my HHB with me today.

Nice photo!
Thanks Bill, same to you, good to hear you had some good shots yesterday. It’s funny how you can slap it around the whole course but play the last hole well and walk off thinking…ah, I finally figured it out! 🤣

Good morning, Guardians. I hope everyone's week is off to a good start despite a deluge of rain coming to Yorkshire and none to California. Jack, We need to work out a rain sharing agreement, I think. :)

The recent talk of knots reminded me of a book I discovered last year: 21st Century Bushcraft by Mike Lummio.

FC36F02A-C4B8-4678-8ED1-070EFFD49C0C.jpeg

It includes eight extremely practical knots—including the Trucker's hitch ;)—with clear instructions and photos. A couple of them were new to me.

I'm not sure it's worth the price for only the chapter on knots, but the rest of the book is good, too, if you have an interest in bushcraft. I've been enjoying it.

Good Morning Guardians.

New arrival- Thomas Turner Encore

What a lovely find; congratulations sir.

Ha! We need to work out a sun-sharing agreement. :D
Great pic, looks an interesting.

Well as Jack has mentioned we've got storms a-comin' and it's just arrived actually so it's lucky I've no plans except a bit of reading and drinking hot chocolate.

Well the good news is that your mate has the week off, plus the two of you had the chance to get together. Cheers Jack!

A grand woodsy image, John.
I can't find a way to contact them, either. Maybe I've had it with image-hosters.View attachment 1743909
Hope not, Jer. Lovely image.
Good morning Guardians. My Lambsfoot with an old fishing reel left to me by my grandfather on my dad’s side. He was the only fisherman on that side of the family and I was the only grandchild interested in fishing. 😊View attachment 1743919
Fine Kodak moment.

Good Morning Guardians.

Very elegant photo, Jack. 🤠

Are they running out of names yet? Might have to start the alphabet over? 🤣
Thanks John :) Can't be long  🤣

All the ones I've ever used have let me down in the end Jer :( I'm not currently having any problems with Imgur, but I suspect it will only be a matter of time  Nice pic of OTW

Great pic Todd, and I love the look of your old reel, it looks good with your PD Big 'Un :) Funnily enough, my grandfather, (on my mother's side - who even fished on Christmas Day), gave me a similar-looking reel as a boy. They were known as 'multiplier reels' here then, and mainly used for sea fishing, though my granddad had used it for pike fishing

Thank you Bill :) My mate wanted to try the place, so I have been there again today :D He eats like a horse, so we were able to order a lot more dishes :)
Really cool photo Jack. Sorry that your weather is so gloomy. Hope it improves. Your HHB looking mighty fine.
Thanks again my friend :) I'm afraid the rain is still lashing down outside :thumbsup:

We definitely do Greg, I was reading an article about the lack of rain there just last night. Also, in the wee hours, when I couldn't sleep, looking at more knots! :D

Good morning Guardians. Ebony for Wednesday. Hope all have a pleasant day wherever you are. Work is busy this week in my world. Budget season is cranking up for 2023. View attachment 1743998
Great photo :) About 25 years ago, when the internet was fairly new, my dad was contacted by some distant relatives in the USA, which he didn't previously know about. They were telling him about various other relatives and descendants, which they said included the guy who took the famous ( and somewhat controversial) Iwo Jima photo

That sounds like a great plan David :) I'm still stuffed from my lunch, and I think I'm going to take my shoes off, make a cuppa, and have a lie on the sofa with Horace Kephart's Camping & Woodcraft

Definitely Harvey, he has been working on a Covid-stricken mental health ward, and has earned a break I reckon :)

Hit post before I put my comments. 😄
My grandfather used his reels to troll for Salmon on Lake Michigan. I’ve got an old picture of him holding up one when they got back to the dock. I use old photos, cards, and pictures my kids made as bookmarks. So if I can find the book with that picture I’ll post it. 😊
