Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Sorry to hear about the awful weather, Jack! šŸ™

I know we sometimes joke about how often the Cornetto Trilogy films seem to come up in this thread, but in the last day or so I saw two little tidbits of news (if you want to call it that) related to the films and the weather you all have been experiencing.

On Friday, wind toppled the spire on top of St. Thomas church in Wells, Somerset. You might remember that Hot Fuzz was filmed in Wells, and while this isn’t the church that was used in the film (that was St. Cuthbert’s), it’s still quite a coincidence considering what happens in the film. 😳

Thankfully no local reporters (nor anyone else) were injured.

Here’s a photo I took of St. Cuthbert’s (the church that was used in the film) when we visited Wells on our first trip to England.

JA9FVwQ.jpg

The second is decidedly less newsworthy, but still of interest I think. Yesterday, Simon Pegg shared a photo on Instagram of the ā€œmodern artā€ statue from The World’s End, which was also destroyed by the wind.

rIVoMHl.jpg

(Sorry for the poor quality of the photo. It had been shared via Instagram Stories, which disappear in 24 hours, and at the time I saw it yesterday, I didn’t think to take a screenshot. So I had to rely on a screenshot taken by someone else, which I was surprised I was actually able to find.)

How about some Lambsfoot content? šŸ˜‰šŸ˜

Thank you Barrett, I noticed that about the church in Wells. I think it's only down to your good self that I even know where Hot Fuzz was filmed (though I have watched the 'extras') I'm glad nobody was injured. Great pics my friend

I didn't realise that was still there! Sad it was wrecked though :( It reminded me of something similar I used to see in Sheffield as a kid ;)

Cool pic Barrett! :D

Seems that my "style" seems to have become commenting on posts that are at least a week old. o_O I suppose it's a good way for all of us to give our memories some exercise.

And the large buffalo horn has arrived View attachment 1737847
Congrats on the new buffalo big'un!:thumbsup::cool:
I also admire that manhole cover - it's really a work of art!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
I have quite a few photos of knives on manhole covers, storm drains, etc. and would like to start a thread dedicated to such stuff someday soon.

Still a little early here for beer to look good but that sausage sandwich looks tasty, and the HHB just pairs well with anything. šŸ˜„
For lunch, a little side salad to go with my leftover meatloaf and potatoes. have a great day Guardians. šŸ˜ŠšŸ‘

That’s the best thing about meatloaf…the leftovers! šŸ˜ŠšŸ‘
Your stag lamb is looking superb, Todd!:cool::thumbsup: (IMHO, the grape tomatoes not so much...)
And it's tough to beat left-over meatloaf, hot or cold, served with almost anything!:cool::thumbsup:

I have gotten used to taking about an hours nap in the afternoon (on days that I don't golf).has worked out well.
Thanks for the input, Bill. :) I've never been a big napper, but it seems like a solution I should explore.

Good Morning Guardians.
Still in sticker shock after meeting with our remodel designer yesterday.
Going to have to rethink our wish list and see where we are at then... COVID pricing is horrible.
I'm definitely having second thoughts about the timing of it all.
If I wait another year to get started, my money might go a lot further.
I can relate to your amazement, John. We recently talked to a contractor who has done several projects for us, and he had some real pricing/availability horror stories about some of his current work.
We should probably replace our only vehicle, a 2005 Civic, before too long, but I'm thinking that with current car prices, new and used, we should try to wait at least a year.

...
I think you're right there Jeff, that's very interesting  Here are mine, which are more like yours than John's (and others we have seen). Curious. We need a straw poll of Waynorth Lambsfoot owners :)

Jack, I, for one, would appreciate some advance warning before you post a heart-stopping pair like that WCLF brace of beauties! 😲:cool:

...

Good Morning Guardians.
Vintage beauty, Harvey!! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

...
As I was taking this photograph, I realized that I really must be a traditional knife knut. Even my coffee maker has a Mark Side! :D
...
Greg, the rosewood HHBs look great in almost any setting, including kitchenware!:thumbsup::cool:
I think my daily coffee ritual must be much simpler, with me being a "coffee caveman": I nuke an 8 oz cup of skim milk and stir in a heaping teaspoon of Folger's Crystals - I just want to ingest some caffeine. ;)
Here's my rosewood HHB with an old colander; we had quite a rash of photos like this once upon a time:
hhb2.9.colander.jpg

Jer and JosƩ, those Black Lambs are elegant knives!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks guys. Her school lost power and the ETR was too long for them to stay. We had fun with it. She even called a couple of the other departments to ask them if their AC was running and to catch it. That was hilarious to her
To me, too! šŸ¤“

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is doing well. I slept for seven hours solid last night, woke up briefly, and slept for another two  Hoping I'm not going to turn into Rumpelstiltskin!
Congrats, Jack; that sounds marvelous!:cool::thumbsup:
I had a night a couple of weeks ago during which I "slept like a baby" from 7:30pm to 6:30am, but I was fighting muscle/joint aches from a reaction to a pneumonia vaccine and took a couple of Advil PM with some kind of "sleep aid" before bed. Drug-induced sleep is not really a habit I want to develop!

...
It's been a really nice day here, and I wish I had been able to get out for a hike. I've been out in the garden though, and the first flowers of spring turned out to be crocuses, rather than my daffs, which are on the verge of opening up

0xNC4uO.jpg
That pic should be titled "Hope Springs Eternal", Jack!:cool::thumbsup: Amazing that you have crocuses by mid-February.
I think we're still at least a month from any crocuses. This pic of the back of my house is almost exactly 4 years old, and it's uncanny how closely it resembles the back view today:

Yes indeed... The Charlie Lamb is a work of art... absolutely beautiful.
Outstanding, John! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Good Morning Guardians.
Sweet, in more ways than one, Harvey!:thumbsup::cool:

...
It's Thursday tomorrow, and I'll be heading off to the market, probably while it's still dark. I haven't carried this Big Bex in a while, so I'm putting it on cake cutting duty for the day ;) Have a great Thursday Guardians

Yes, we are putting it off for now... there is no hurry.

Got my Sunday LF knife with me today.
Beautiful ebony lambfoot, Bill.
The bone is very similar to my Encore.

Stag Lambsfoot content.
As is this Stag beauty.

Thanks pal :) That's quite a sleep :) In the 80's, my dad used to take nitrazapam on prescription. It never seemed to have any adverse affect upon him, so far as I could tell, but I wouldn't take it myself

A faithful companion :)
Thank you  it's a workhorse from way back. Suffered a bit of blade loss, well pocket polished and still going strong

Beautiful Rob, it's always a real treat to see that one, or indeed any of your vintage Lambs :)
Cool castle house pics, along with your trusty hhb.
Thanks Harvey, I just filched that one, I don't think the artwork is there anymore, but I remember it well from being a kid. Castle House was at the top of King Street, one of the oldest streets in the town. There's nothing of architectural interest on it today, but it once housed the small town jail, where debtors were confined, and people locked up overnight for drunkenness, or for a few days for minor offences. It held a lot of cutlers
Good Evening Guardians (As I get back on my horse.)
Yay! :) Your photos are always stunning Harvey :) It's good to see your Hartshead Barlow

Good morning Guardians, the latest storm is just starting to subside here, after another night of strong winds, and driving rain. My plan today, was to go to the National Railway Museum in York, with a friend and his 2 kids, but York is experiencing serious flooding, as is much of Yorkshire, including Leeds, where I live. I'm not affected too much though, as I live on what passes for a hill in Leeds. It looks like it's now stopped raining, so I think I'm going to go out for a walk, and get some exercise, been stuck in the house since Friday  I hope everyone had a great weekend, and that your week gets off to a good start

Edit - Well, it seems Storm Franklin is yet to arrive. I guess that was Storm Eunice last night? I've lost tally!

Really cool pics of your HHB and the "River Ouse".

Hello Guardians and all. Today we are going to have another great day here in southern coastal NC. Going to carry my new Senator today and borrow a slip from one of my other knives to protect it from dings, etc.
