Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

We got about five minutes of sprinkles in Sacramento. It's a start! Now if we could just get that to go for a week or so, and cover the whole Central Valley, plus a bunch of snow in the mountains, then we'd be in good shape.

Here is my hopeful Lambsfoot.

I hope you get some rain soon Tyson  That is particularly nice Rosewood I think :)
WOW!!
Jack- stunning photo's of amazing old Trains!!! beautifully restored- its a shame we don't see more of those magnificent machines on the tracks for a run now and then!
Thank you for sharing these my friend.
Thanks Duncan, hope you're keeping well brother :)

Here's the view from the inside (steaming into Whitby) ;)

I'm just toasting you :D

Yes. It had shrunk off the liner at the head end and seems to have filled out again pretty well.
I don't remember if I've mentioned that part of the trouble with my central humidifier was that I had the water to it turned off. ( Dam thing's a dam waste of money!] The furnace guy was here this morning and says the humidifier is fine (I had turned the water on a while back, which spared me some embarrassment).

That's great news Jer :) Old Toffee Wings is looking good
I thoroughly enjoyed all the pictures of the beautiful trains. Thanks for posting them.
I really need to take another trip to the Sacramento Train Museum again some day... it's a lot of fun.
Thanks mate, don't forget to take your camera with you! :D
I would love to be dining in that car. 🤠
There's a whole bunch of fancy dining cars there, and several royal trains. They had one outside, where you could buy 'afternoon tea' for £50 apiece! I don't know if anyone here has ever had a cucumber sandwich? I have, once, and I wouldn't give tuppence for one!

Slowly but surely, I hope.

Fabulous!
Thank you Harvey, I hope so :)

As per usual, I'll be heading down to the market tomorrow, though they're forecasting another day of rain I'm afraid :( First, I need to walk down to the local sorting office to pick up a parcel the post office tried to deliver while I was out today. I dare say, I'll be fancying a slice of cake by the time I get into town, so I'm going equipped with my Rosewood Big 'Un :) If I don't get a chance to say 'Hi' in the morning, have a good day Guardians

Very cool picture, Greg. 🤠

Thanks, John!

Good Morning Guardians.
I'm still off today, so I'm going to be working on my Jeep.

Hope you had a good time tinkering.

Thank you Guardians :)
I am doing ok  All tests after the fall came back normal.
My wife is now going through several medical tests of her own and that combined with some new responsibilities that I had to take on in the past few days have me a bit overwhelmed (I was never a good multitasker )

Thank you for the kind thoughts :), I'll return in a few days when the fog clears :thumbsup:

Dan, glad to hear that you're doing OK, but sorry to hear about what your wife is going through (and, you with her). Hang in there, buddy, we'll be thinking about you.

At the top of the photo, you might just be able to make out the bridge which links the two sides of the town. They had the same bridge since the English Civil War, but it was washed away a few years ago. They nearly lost the replacement last week  We went to York via the motorway, which bypasses Tadcaster, on raised ground. It was like crossing a vast lake! There's still a lot of flooding in York, but the water is starting to slowly go down

Great stuff Bill, hard to get a decent pic with as many folks packed into the museum, as there were today, but I'll paste in a few below. Thank you for the kind words

Thanks Greg, that's a beautiful composition. I am worn out after my trip today (young children can do that!), so I think I'll be having an early night

Enjoying it so far John, I'll let you know :)

Enjoy your day off my friend :) Nice pic there

Very nice :) I hope you're enjoying carrying it

Has there been any improvement Jer?

I hope everything goes well for your wife Dan, and that things settle down for you  That's a wonderful photo

You sound eager Taylor! :D Looks like a frosty start buddy, but it made for a great pic :)

Thanks Todd, cool pic :)

I hope everyone is having a good day. I'm absolutely worn out! :D Here's a few pics for y'all

Wow, those are some stunning locomotives. Sounds like a wonderful outing. Thanks for bringing us along, Jack!

I really need to take another trip to the Sacramento Train Museum again some day... it's a lot of fun.

I was just thinking the same thing. It's a great museum.

Back to my first lamb tomorrow, hello world.View attachment 1750444

And your first one is a good one! I still carry my first lambsfoot more than any other of my flock.

Speaking of my first lambsfoot, it did the honors of opening the envelope containing this new arrival that I think will be of interest to some here:

KsljEylh.jpg

It's written for arborists, but has a lot of practical knowledge which is generally useful. It covers not just how to tie the knots, but also when to use them and, crucially, when not to use them. And, it has a knot called the beer knot (similar in use to a water knot for making a sling) which I'd never heard of before and also seems appropriate to mention here. :D

Hope you had a good time tinkering.
I got a lot done yesterday.
Made good progress on the Jeep, did a bunch of chores around the house, did some paperwork, and even made dinner for the wife.
I was just thinking the same thing. It's a great museum.
It really is, and the whole Old Town is fun to visit. I love going there and wandering around for a few hours.

Different day, same knife and slip
A winning combination Jon :)
Nice Leon :) We don't often see Snakewood models. I only have a second, picked up from the factory, under the previous ownership. It was inexpensive, but I carry it only rarely

It's been a while since anyone posted a photo of one of the Snakewood models from my 2019 Damascus SFO run :(

That's starting to take on a nice 'lived-in' look :)
Not without watercress!
LOL! :D I once read an interview with the chess player Garry Kasparov, in which he was asked what his favourite food was. He replied, "I really like watercress." :D
Jack, great pictures from the Armouries and Train museums!!!
Here is a picture of a fine stag Lamb Foot sitting on a page from a classic 1962 motorcycle magazine courtesy of our friend and leader, Jack.
"All set to go..." is a proper caption for both the knife and motorcycle. :)

Nice choice Jer :)

Sounds interesting Greg, I will have to research the beer knot! :D Cool pic :)
Fascinating Jer! :D

Hi Guardians, hope everyone is having a good day :) Ongoing weird weather here, it rained heavily throughout the night, with regular heavy downpours, and light snow showers, this morning, but is currently quite sunny. Leeds market was pretty much dead as a doornail, with a lot of traders failing to turn up, which I thought was a pretty poor show - it is winter after all, and we are in Yorkshire  I didn't get my cake ration because the 'cake man' was among the shirkers! 🤨
