I used my Lambsfoot to cleanup a few dead leaves from these Canna Lillies.
I love seeing your AC my friend, it might well be the best of them
Very true. I looked at Osprey again when I needed to replace the day pack, but they seemed to have gone even further toward ultra-lightweight gear, and I couldn’t find anything that fit my needs like the old pack I’d had. Now I have a 5.11 backpack for everyday stuff (I actually have three of them

). Well made bags, definitely not lightweight.
I can certainly see the reason for making things lighter, but overall I think the move to lightweight packs was one of the many con-tricks from the outdoor industry, particularly at the cheaper end of the market. Some of them are downright shoddy. If you're ever over here again, and want a big pack, I have a bunch of good, well-made old 'uns, some still have the labels on!

It's not often I use a big pack these days. Even the Gyrfalcon I bought a few years ago, was largely a waste of money

The last day pack I bought (after the Maxpedition Falcon II), was by Karrimor SF, and I'm really pleased with it. Karrimor were a good British outdoor company years ago, but then they were bought by some
phone-shop spiv, and they're garbage now. It turns out that Karrimor SF are actually a separate company though
Exercise
and a vegetarian sandwich? I’d say you earned dessert, too.
I skipped dessert, and treated myself to some beers!

I think deep down I know that, and I probably owe it to myself to try a good meatloaf, which I’d probably enjoy. I guess I was just traumatized by the meatloaves of my childhood.
I'm surprised I'm not in therapy recovering from my mother's cooking!

It never gets old!

It's nice to see that bowl again Barrett, great pics
I think that is where it probably originated from, but done properly they are fantastic. Another reason to think that they originated from hard times, they were a convenient working mans lunch. Cold and sliced in your lunchbox. And good meatloaf
I think every country, or even town, has its own dish for when the pennies are getting low. In Sheffield, workers traditionally got paid on Thursday, and on Wednesday night, most of the city tucked in to a poor man's stew, known locally as ash. Recipe's vary, but it's usually delicious, and I should make it more often. There's a
posh version on the Henderson's Relish site, though I've never seen ash with celery in it before
Yes indeed!

Here school dinners were synonymous with childhood eating trauma, but I never found them too bad, they were certainly a lot better than the food at home!

I don’t think the Walnut Bowl factory is there anymore. I believe it burned down several years ago. I’ve told the story about stopping there and buying that bowl before in this thread (when I originally took those pics). I’ll just quote it here, rather than retell it:
That's a shame Barrett

I enjoyed re-reading that though

Superb photo my friend
My mom's dad called church meatloaf, breadloaf.
LOL!

I've had sausages like that!

Me and my siblings used to call my mother's ash 'potato stew'!

I'm enjoying the Seahawks game, a juicy steak, and a delicious beer.

Living phat buddy!

That's a better name than 'Vera Drake' (sometimes folks change it to 'Charlie Drake')!
That was probably because some ladies will put bread in to add some cheap bulk and also to maintain some moisture . My wife makes a Great Meatloaf and will sometimes make 2 at the same time just to put some Sweet Pickle Relish in one for me .
Harry
Fantastic Harry
Thanks... and my Seahawks won the game, so it was a good night.
Yay!

I could see that for sure. I bought this one for day hikes and quick weekenders due to its lightweight. It has turned more into my overnight bag for quick trips haha. Great bag that packs alot of capability for its size

Best, Greg
I see a lot of them here, even though they're relatively pricey. Seem to be good packs
