Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Cool pic Steve, my dad didn't serve (Royal Artillery) until just after WW2, but I used to have photos of my grandfathers in uniform. Not anymore unfortunately. Three of my 4 great grandfathers were killed in WW1, and strangely, while searching for info on one of them, I came across a photo of my 4th great grandfather, who I didn't realise had been wounded. He had been a Colour Sargent (Sargent Major) in Africa, in the 19th century, and then re-enlisted during WW1. My father remembers him, as an older man, with a big handle-bar moustache, which apparently he sported for much of his adult life, but clean-shaven, he looks very much like one of my uncles.

Nice pic Steve :)

My dad served in the 50's during the Malayan conflict. His brother William was killed in Africa in WW2.

I have his medals and letter .

Malaya was a tough one Steve! And, sadly, to some extent, forgotten :( Those boys were tough as old boots

Very sorry to hear your uncle fell in Africa :( My great uncle, Bill Walch, was a tank driver with the Queen's Bays in North Africa (and just about everywhere else), he was blown up 3 times, but survived the war. One of my grandfathers, Bill Bourne, was in Palestine with the Royal Artillery

Sad moments...least we never forget.

My deepest respect for those who served in the RAF like your father, Steve. Great images, too.
I think my grandfather's brother was in the RAF, but most of my family were in the Army, apart from an uncle who was in the Royal Navy. My brother-in-law's father, Jack Laidlaw, was a fighter pilot throughout WW2 thought, he was straight out of an adventure comic!
