Thanks Jack, I'll be right over ;)

Happy Saturday Guardians. My personal challenge for November for the HHB as the only knife for the month failed miserably, but I’m still okay with it. Too many knives, not enough time. Charlie Lamb today.

Hope everyone has a peaceful weekend, especially our American Guardians for their Thanksgiving!

Edit - Just realized I’m a few days early for Thanksgiving. Next Thursday. Sentiment still applies ;)

Did a search for O1 knives a while back and what do you know but a lambsfoot appeared. Having admired the knives in this thread I put in my order.
Only had it for a day now and only put a basic edge on it for now but I like how sturdy it is. Wish the stag was thicker at the pile side center pin and a little better matched but that is a bit of its charm as well.

Hey Mike! Great to see you here :) What?! You're bloody useless! 🤣 Great pics, and it's nice to see you're eating well :)

Welcome to the Guardians :) Do you have any prior experience with O1? The reason I ask is that I tried to get Wright's to make me some O1 Lambsfoot blades for several years, and at a time when I was their biggest customer, and they came up with all sorts of reasons why they were unable to do so. I know that they are perfectly happy to lie about the materials they use, so I have to wonder if they're using O1, or using their regular C75, and being dishonest about it. If anyone has any Lambsfoot blades, which are claimed to be O1, I'd be very grateful for your thoughts  That's some nice-looking stag there

Thank you for the welcome sir.
I have 3 fixed and 2 folders in O1 and really like the way they respond to the stone and strop as well as their cutting capabilities.
Had I known Wright had honesty issues about materials I probably would have went with a different Lambsfoot as my first as I really want one of the 4" versions.

I only spent a few minutes on the diamond stone with this one and it's been a good while since I've had any of my other O1's on a stone so no comparison there. My preferred O1 routine is 15 degrees per side and just stropping after that.
Depending on what we have for dinner I will hopefully get to test the instant patina. I have yet to have an O1 blade fail to turn blue instantly when cutting hot meat. I'll report back with my non scientific results when I have them.

It's great to have you here my friend :) Check out post #1, couple of resources there. As someone with experience of O1, I would love to know your informed opinion. Personally, I've found it easier to tell the difference with a grindstone, rather than a whetstone, 01 tends to really stand out. Wright's always refused to use O1 for pocket knives, because of the extra wear it caused to their tools. I offered, repeatedly, to compensate them for this, but they wouldn't budge on the matter I'm afraid. I like O1, it's one of my favourite knife steels, but in practice, when it's used for pocket knives, the difference between 1095 and O1 can be harder to spot, as a user, in my experience. C70 is closer to 1070 though, so hopefully, it's easier to differentiate :) I really hope you enjoy the Lambsfoot pattern

That's my kind of Lamb!! Very nice Dwight.

Stag doesn't get any better than that Steve. Congrats. Did that lamb come from A. Wright & Son with those scales?
