Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Jack, I sure love that feathery amber horn on your RLF. My Ralf is very slow to take on colour, with this pic taken just now after weeks of carry and use. I believe what I enjoy most about using this ebony Guardian is the feel in hand; the width and thickness is just about perfect for me.

Thanks a lot Jeff :) I'm glad you're enjoying your Ralf, I think that the swayback frame really enhances the ergonomics of the Lambsfoot blade. The polished blade shrugs off just about everything, but fruit acid I think. I've had this one a few years, but it was only when I used it on fruit that the blade really took on patina

Yesterday I treated my A. Wright Buffalo Lambsfoot to an overdue spa day. First, its edge was honed and stropped back to shaving sharp. Then its joint and spring were oiled and cleaned, restoring its smooth action.

That’s where I usually stop, but yesterday I added a bonus treatment. Its horn covers were wiped with mineral oil and then further conditioned with the homemade mineral oil and beeswax wood balm I use on my little carvings. I let a thin covering of the balm sit for about ten minutes and then wiped off the excess with a cloth.

The horn treatment is a new step for me. I am hoping that it’ll help reduce the amount of seasonal horn shrinkage that mine encounters during the dry months. I’ll report back on that later. In the mean time, it looks shinier and ready for more adventure.

So far, so good on the mineral oil and beeswax treatment for the horn. I’ve carried the knife quite a bit and put it through its usual package opening/cardboard box break down/yard utility task workout regimen and the covers are still looking great, as seen in this photo I also shared in the totin’ thread:

Thank you my friend, I don't eat strawberries anywhere near as much as I should :) Sounds like you had a great time at the Rendezvous

I keep meaning to ask, does anyone ever shorten 'Rendezvous' to 'R.V.'? Here it's used in military circles, and has spread into civvie street from there

We did have a great time at the Rendezvous! I have never heard the term shortened to R. V. Jack. Of course here in the states that term is synonymous with the term Recreational Vehicle!

Oh yes, I guess it's already taken then, could lead to confusion in the military I guess! :D I'm not sure what the English equivalent would be, perhaps 'a van'! ;) :D

Great find OG, it sounds like you have had an interesting life my friend :) Here's a cut of a two-blade Thomas Turner Lambsfoot from their 1902 catalogue

There's a chair waiting for you Jeff :)

What a great pic! I love the contrasting colours

My Lambsfoot cut some strawberries, some tri-tip steaks and some limes for a cocktail. Great weekend so far! Also carried it at football practice today.

Sounds like you'll be getting some nice colour on that Lambsfoot blade Taylor :)

I haven't carried my Unity Lambsfoot in a while :)
