Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Great find OG, it sounds like you have had an interesting life my friend :) Here's a cut of a two-blade Thomas Turner Lambsfoot from their 1902 catalogue

There's a chair waiting for you Jeff :)

What a great pic! I love the contrasting colours

Sounds like you'll be getting some nice colour on that Lambsfoot blade Taylor :)

I haven't carried my Unity Lambsfoot in a while :)

Good morning Jack. :) That's some old Skool of a Lambsfoot

Carried this for a few days away in the Yorkshire Dales.

Wow! This photo is really haunting.:thumbsup: I am going to put it on my desktop pic of the day.

Wow! This photo is really haunting.:thumbsup: not only that I am going to put it on my desktop pic of the day.

Thanks Dave  And your description is very apt. "Haunting" is a word often used to describe the high fells in England. Along with 'bleak', 'lonely' and 'melancholy'... :)

Thank you, David, I have England and Scotland on my bucket list. This is what I pictured what it's like in Scotland,

I did Jack thank you. It's a stunning part of the world. That was taken on the Pennine Way betwixt Keld and the Tan Hill Inn. It was horizontal rain for the most part :)

Sorry to hear about the rain! I hope you got a good few pints at the end of it

Thanks mate, one of my favourites :)

The Highlands is spectacular Dave

Lots of "haunting", "bleak", "melancholy", and "lonely" too! :D

Your right it is. But the north of England is to. If you draw a line east to west across England at about the 52 degrees north, then apart from the Lake District in Cumbria, all the higher elevations north of that line in England looks alot like that.

A furlong = 1/8 mile. The late great Ian Catford mentioned that the measure was still in use in India (40 years ago).
I have a book of conversions that can put furlongs into Angstrom units.

Rv is recreational vehicle round these parts also. I think our military says "rally point/r.p." instead of rendezvous. Might be an over-generalization though.

I've been told I can turn melancholy into despair with my ukulele.

Blackadder's turn today.

I think furlongs are still in use in British horse racing

I have heard 'muster point' or 'rally point' also, but it means something slightly different here

LOL! :D We need a ukulele and Lambsfoot pic Jer! :D

Nice to see Blackadder :)

Fresh polish for wooden Wednesday

Looking good Joshua :)

Couldn't be happier! What a great example and experience from the "The Famous".

I had requested a few particulars..centered blade, we'll fitted cover, no wobble ..basic CQ check.

Delivered on all points w/ a polite, hand written note by Jordan confirming my request(s), concerns about my satisfaction and thanking me for the buisness...what a great experience.

My only regret is not getting down on one of these sooner. Love everything about it and most pleased that there is no half stop. What a great knife and blade profile.

Did you order through the Sheffield shop? Just curious..

PLEASE keep commercial discussion out of this thread, that dealer is not a BF supporter, if the forum guidelines keep being broken, it'll only be a matter of time before there has to be an intervention, which I personally don't want to see. If you want to ask questions about buying please do it by PM. Thanks

Thanks, GT  It will take a couple of days for my Family Physician to get the results. I imagine there will have to be some lifestyle changes on the menu. 10000 steps is a good haul, when I was working at the airport I had a pedometer and was told by a dietician
to do 7000 a day even that took some work.
I enjoy walking, and usually walk at least 2 miles and at most 6 miles on my daily commute to and from work. I'm also surprised how many steps I take in teaching a 50-minute class. I apparently pace all around the room rather than stayed chained to a lectern.

I recently had my annual checkup and as usual the Doctor ask about my favourite things and then told me to cut them out , but when i told him i was stepping out with a 25 year old girl ( i am 73 ) he told me i should worry about heart failure i replied " She is a lovely girl and i am very fond of her but if she dies she dies ". Boom Boom.
:D:D Oldie, but goodie!

...
All the colours of the rainbow there GT, and a few more besides :)

I hope everyone had a great weekend :) I'm starting the week off with my wee staggy :) Have a good week folks

GT Wheres the meat? :p The etch, yes it is still there :D
Jack & Dave, whatever food I prepare (oatmeal, sandwich, etc.), I tend to include an entire food pyramid! ;) There are 3 slices of summer sausage in that sandwich, but 3 leaves of Romaine lettuce tends to hide most of the other ingredients.

Re, etch still there. Heres mine as of this morning. :)

Great photo, Dave! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

... I have a friend, (and he is far from alone in this), who buys his readers from the £1 Shop, and he seems to do OK with them. I paid £150 for mine, and I've had to take them back 3 times! ... there's no darn way they are 150 times better than the ones my tight-fisted friend gets from the £1 Shop! o_O :D
This type of thought usually goes through my mind when I'm doing comparative knife shopping! ;)

You might well be the first Taylor! The Lambsfoot is unusual as a pattern in that it didn't cross The Pond. ...
Oh okay, so I might be the first LOL.
Taylor, you're not only a Guardian of the Lambsfoot now, you're also a Trailblazer!! ;):thumbsup:

This one to start the weekend right

Great pic of your new lambsfoot! Nice grain!:cool::thumbsup:

Jack, I sure love that feathery amber horn on your RLF. My Ralf is very slow to take on colour, with this pic taken just now after weeks of carry and use. I believe what I enjoy most about using this ebony Guardian is the feel in hand; the width and thickness is just about perfect for me.

Superb black/red combo, Jeff! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

So far, so good on the mineral oil and beeswax treatment for the horn. I’ve carried the knife quite a bit and put it through its usual package opening/cardboard box break down/yard utility task workout regimen and the covers are still looking great, as seen in this photo I also shared in the totin’ thread:

Thanks for the update, Greg!:thumbsup::cool:

My latest Lambsfoot addition by Thomas Turner.
The flyer is from 1968 when I was traveling through Kent - supporting myself by working in a 1 ring family circus.

Splendid knife, OG!!:cool::thumbsup: Intriguing poster! Were you part of some of the circus acts, or a general roustabout, or what??

Fantastic foto, Dave, that really took me back!! I used to LOVE my Mom's home-canned peaches (on cereal or cottage cheese), but haven't had them for at least 30 years (probably a lot longer than that).

Have you darkened the finish, Joshua? This and other recent pics of your lambsfoot seem to show darker handles than before (but maybe it's all a matter of lighting).:cool::thumbsup:

I've just making a blackberry crumble to put in the oven later, and I realised that I was carrying the same knife when I did the same last year :)
