I feel like I just read the pitch script for the next Guy Ritchie film.LOL!Well, most of those folks only call in for ten minutes or so at a time, so they don't get a chance to collude

It's primarily Tool Man who comes up with the nicknames, but some of the guys have had nicknames for decades. When I first started going to the market looking for pointy treasure, before they knew my name, the stall holders used to refer to me as 'The Knife Man'!
![]()
In an early conversation with Tool Man, I mentioned my nickname from school, Barn, and he calls me that, at least as often as he calls me Jack. I've not heard anyone else use it though. Some of the nicknames are pretty mundane, such as Otley Mick, who we also saw yesterday, and is originally from a place called Otley. My mate Wolfie gets the name from his surname, but the other Wolfie is a real character, who frequently howls!
Harry Hot Balls is about 80, and always used to turn up with a small bag of spicy sausage-meat balls he'd brought from a food vendor in the market, saying, in one of the thickest Yorkshire accents, "Duz anybody want hot ball?"!
Some other characters are Golden Gordon, Sheep's Head Dave, Barry The Ted, Old Billy, Billy Two Quiffs, Big Dave, The Odd Couple, Melbourne, and The Gangster's Moll, but some of them we don't see that often. Here's Tool Man testing out a cast iron pan he bought on Sheep's Head Dave

I would probably have a hard time hitting the broad side of a barn as well…Now I have to ask. Barn? Like as hard to hit as the broad side of?

Nice to see OTW Jer
Thanks Jeremy, I got the scan, nothing else. The poor young dentist had been expecting me in 2 months ago for the scan, but the receptionists hadn't let me know, even when I called in! Nor did they tell her that I needed other treatment today. She took me to see the Practice Manager, and gave me her email address for if I need urgent treatment again. I have another appointment booked for next month, which will be the fourth I've hadThanks Jack, I hope it won’t be too long. Thanks for sharing the background on some of the nicknames as well.
I was 6ft 3" by the time I was 15, so more like, 'As big as...' I think it started off as a rugby thingNow I have to ask. Barn? Like as hard to hit as the broad side of?
