Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Hi everyone. Hope your off to a good weekend. 😎

This morning I took Cinna and Patches to the groomer. Then I went for a haircut. Carried this one:

After they were done, we picked them up and took them to the green space for a walk. The Bluebonnets are out in force! I had this ebony lamb, a gift from Dwight. Thanks buddy! And then I picked up some beers for this afternoon.

Two beauties Pete and what great fields for dogs to romp.👍

Sounds great Todd, I'm glad you're all having such a good time :)
Thanks Jack. 😎👍
Good morning Guardians, it's great to get Paul and Todd's early reports from the Badger Knife Show, and I hope that you all have a fantastic weekend, wish I could be there with you :) Spread the word on the Lambsfoot! :D
That would’ve been a lot of fun! 👍
Wishing everyone else a great weekend too, and I hope that you manage to find something enjoyable to do, even if it's just putting your feet up. The weather is kind of miserable here, so I hope it brightens up a bit. I wasn't able to make plans for today, as I need to take a pair of combat pants back to the guy on the market I bought them from last week, he's only there on Saturdays. I really need to get into the habit of going for a weekend walk again  I'll probably call in at Charlie's on the way to town, and pick up some shopping while I'm there. I'm going down to see a pal later, and we're watching 2 related films back-to-back, and drink some beer of course :D Got my Hartshead Barlow in my pocket, again ;)

Finally got to check out a HHB in person Jack. Barrett had his at the show, super cool! 😎👍

Fantastic patina Taylor.
Well I have had a great day. Got to meet up at the Badger Knife Show with a few Guardians and just had a blast talking knives and life. Of course I am horrible with pictures and only taken this picture 5 minutes ago when I got to my room. Missed a lot of great opportunities for some nice pictures.
Thanks for the smokes bigfish64 bigfish64 !!!!!! Had a great cigar and scotch with Todd just now. Of course I had to have this beauty with me all day. I hope you all had a great day.

That's better.
Very cool lamb Jer and I really like that background.
in spite of the braying of the petit bourgeoisie!
😂
I had never really thought about it before but after admiring some of the chews I can see why he'd say that!

A great weekend to you and the rest of the Guardians!

Here's the antler for my small dog (who looks a bit like a lamb), a not-so-aggressive chewer. The Aussie's gone through three or four 12-inch antlers in the time that this one has been nibbled. I chuckle at this one because he looks like he's taking a pipe with the way he holds it.

Love the old knives and you show them well Dwight.

Sad to report that after searching high and low and looking at thousands of knives...............not one lambsfoot to be found 😔. All is well as the Guardians were well represented and had their's.

Barrett showed me his damascus ironwood which I believe was in the same run as the stag I have. A wonderful knife. Jack did an amazing job on those!!!!

Back home now and getting ready to get some ribeyes on the grill. A few beers and a cigar will be closely followed behind dinner.

Got the stag in the pocket today. I hope everyone is doing well and had a great day.

You’re welcome my friend! And thank you for the Scotch, Badger knife club membership, and the gift that will have to be shown in another thread. 😉👍View attachment 2128959
Great day at the knife show today. It’s so nice to put faces to names and talk to some great guys as if we’d been friends for years. Looking forward to another great day tomorrow. 😎👍

Paul and Todd, it was great to meet y’all! I’m glad we had so much time to sit and talk knives and everything.:thumbsup: And thanks for the recommendation/introduction to Spotted Cow!

Happy Saturday 👍

Carrying my '19 today :)

Although it has some stiff competition, I still think the 2019 Guardians Lambsfoot is one of my favorites. Fantastic knife!

Same as last year, but no worries. All those old knife dudes don’t know what they’re missing. 😉🤣

I had these two with me in Wisconsin.

It’s not nearly as good in a bottle Barrett, so that means we’ll have to meet up and do it again next year! 🍺😄

Thanks for letting me see those beauties in person Barret. 😎👍

That's amazing Jack, a cutlers wage must have been minuscule for the finish price to have been so low.
An absolute pittance Steve, which is one of the reasons few Sheffield cutlery factories mechanised, because labour was so cheap. Under the 'Liver and draw' system, they were issued with the parts and hafting materials, and drew their wages when they delivered the finished knives, with deductions for any work which was rejected. It was the same in other Sheffield industries, there were files still being cut by hand into the 1960's. I was talking to an old file-cutter about 10 years ago, and he told me him and his brother were paid "Fifty bob a gross" for hand-cut files, that's two pounds and ten shillings per 144 files, £2.50 today, less than half the price of a pint of beer! In the late 17th century, Obadiah Barlow sold his knives for 2/6 a dozen. By 1895, at a time when there were 4 US dollars to a British pound, even taking into account transport costs, and tariffs, Sheffield-made Barlow knives were selling in the USA for as little as 8 cents apiece! In 1903, Sheffield cutler, Charles Ibbotson recalled that he was paid sixpence a dozen for Barlow knives. Hardly surprising that, as Sheffield grew in size, and other employment opportunities became available, only those with no other prospects went into the cutlery trade.
It's a beautiful day here and a slow melt is on 👍

Thanks for the report Paul, and for the kind words :) It sounds like a fantastic event, with a great homecoming reward :D A memorable weekend for you, I'm sure, and hopefully for all the other Guardians who attended :) Excellent pic buddy :)

I'm so glad you were able to get along again Barrett, it sounds like you all had a really great time :) Cool pic of your travelling companions :)
Jack Black Jack Black what kind of soup did you make?
The ingredients were garlic, onion, tomatoes, lentils, red pepper, carrots, smoked paprika, herbs, pepper, and vegetable stock Daniel :) With a large glug of Henderson's Relish, and a little Ghost Seasoning ;) I have a big pan of it in the fridge, wish I could share it! :D

Good morning Guardians, hope everyone returning from the Badger show had a safe journey home, with happy thoughts, friendships cemented, and maybe a little new pointy treasure in your pocket ;) Enjoy the rest of your weekend, like the rest of us who were not able to attend :) Our clocks went forward last night, which coincided badly with my night out, meaning I didn't get in until 2.30am  It was nice to see my friend Matt, and his family, though he fell asleep 10 minutes into our second film! :D I called a taxi at that point! ;) Pretty dull outdoors today, and I have no plans, other than trying to catch up with 'The Catch Bit Show', and maybe a bit of housework. Struggling to kick my Hartshead Barlow out of my pocket, so I'm going to treat myself to a Double Lambsfoot Day! :D Have a good Sunday Guardians :)
