Far too sickly for me, I wasn't even bothered about them as a kid!Same here, i cannot even look at one..
I thought so Steve, Yorkshire was a big coal-mining area, so I see the lamps - known as Davy Lamps here - pretty regularly. It's nice to see more of yoursThanks Jack, It's a coal miners safety lamp. Both of my Grandpas worked in the coal pits of Hamilton when they were young. My brother has my grandpas original old lamp. I was gifted a pair of these by a client some years ago when I told her of my heritage.

They have a huge range Barrett, but it's hard to see the wood for the trees!Looks like you got some good stuff at the Chili Shop, Jack! The Sheffield Wednesday sauce looks interesting, but I’m not sure about “Founder Member Flavour”…![]()
Good grief! What is this “green” of which you speak? We’ve got some driveway markers at the end of the driveway (mostly to keep the snowplow drivers from jumping the curb and tearing up the yard, which happened once). Anyways, they’re 48” tall (minus the 4” or so that’s sunk into the ground), and top the pile of snow that I’ve shoveled next to the driveway all winter is just now getting below the top of those markers.

Thank you kindly. A friend had some wood veneer made from this, so I said why not! It just so happened that Michael May had some blocks in his workshop and agreed to make one. I was surprised by the density. That is a New One on me. But Beautiful.

I thought so Steve, Yorkshire was a big coal-mining area, so I see the lamps - known as Davy Lamps here - pretty regularly. It's nice to see more of yoursOne of my great grandfathers was a miner prior to WW1, and my grandfather's brother, on the other side of the family, when he was young. I dare say, a few of my other ancestors will have dug coal too. I've seen the price of the old lamps steadily increase in price, even the conversions. I just noticed I have a mini one on my window-sill, with some other oddments
Very interesting my friend, thanks for the reply

Thank you Steve, when I still attended local flea-markets regularly, I used to come across quite a bit of old mining paraphernalia. It can be quite expensive though, simply because of the sheer number of former miners, and their descendants living locally. The same is true of pocketknives in Sheffield antique shopsThanks Jack, I had forgotten that they were called Davy Lamps
Nice pic of your HHB !
Nice pairing Jer, Happy Double Lambsfoot Day
Spring can't come soon enough. Ebony lamb is looking good my friend.
Outstanding Pete. Hard to beat Ebony.Ebony today. View attachment 2132525
Classy Drink with a classy lamb, Barrett. Well done buddy.Looks like you got some good stuff at the Chili Shop, Jack! The Sheffield Wednesday sauce looks interesting, but I’m not sure about “Founder Member Flavour”…
Good looking Lamb, I like the covers. What is the Arkansas-shaped wood item?
Those Albers Lambs are stunning. I’m kind of hoping he sticks to one cover material for a couple drops, just to spread the love a bit.
Spring has to come eventually… right?!

They have a huge range Barrett, but it's hard to see the wood for the trees!Putting local sports teams on sauces is bound to sell a few I reckon!
I think the 'Founder Member' line is a reference to Wednesday being a founder member of the football league, but there's also a reference, on the side of the bottle, to 'The Oldest Ingredients in the World', which I think is an error. Sheffield Wednesday are one of the oldest football teams in the world, but the oldest is Sheffield FC, a different club
Since they have a comparatively tiny fan-base, it probably isn't good business to name a sauce for them!

Shuttle lamb is so cool. Got one for my son and can't wait for him to get here so I can give it to him. Great photo Jer.
That’s a cool perspective Paul, gives it a smokey blue look.Going to be a nice day today in Wisconsin. Standard work day with nothing out of the ordinary planned. Good day to tote the Charlie lamb. Have a great day everyone.
