Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

All those Stag Hartshead's are beautiful but it seems I am always drawn to the wood scaled ones more. And I like nice stag.
You aren't alone, the Rosewood models proved more popular than I had expected, when I put the order for 20 Rosewood and 80 vintage Sambar in. In the end, there were 21 made in Rosewood, and 77 made in stag, but it was a struggle to fulfill all the Rosewood orders, and they were over-subscribed

Looks like a nice lunch Jack. 😎👍
Thanks Todd, I was going to have something light at home, but bearing in mind the planned walk and slingshot session, I thought I better have something more substantial
Good morning Guardians. Another beautiful morning here. Hope you all have a great Sunday. 😎👍View attachment 2207294

Classy choice Bob  :)

Hope everyone's day is going well :) Mine has been a little strange  While I hadn't told Matt I had a slingshot for him, I had told him I had one for Cillian, and we had agreed to go out for some target practice in the woods. I texted him yesterday, to ask when he wanted to go, and he suggested 1.30pm, which was good for me. I packed my bag with slingshot stuff, and picked up a couple of sodas for Cillian to shoot at, had lunch at Charlie's, and then went round. Everyone was pleased to see me, and I gave the boys their slingshots, and sat down while Cillian showed me his other birthday presents. After 5 minutes, the door-bell rang, and a middle-aged couple, about 10 years older than myself, came in, and I eventually worked out this was Matt's mom, and her third husband. Matt's parents split up when he was young, but it seems to have been quite amicable, and his mother re-married, so he has a step-father he is close to too. More recently, his mother re-married again, so his kids effectively have 3 grandfathers on that side of the family! I have now met all 3 of them, and they all seem nice enough. I'm not sure who they thought I was, because we weren't really introduced, but we got on OK. They gave Cillian his presents, and we sat and talked small talk, until the door-bell rang again. This turned out to be Matt's wife's mother, who joined us in the small living room, where there was much talk of various ailments, operations, and day-time TV. Cake was given out, tea offered, and I began to look at my watch, and wonder what was going on, and when we were going to go to the woods. Since, the room was small, and I was was wedged in the corner, on the other side of the grandparents, with Matt on the other side of the room, it seemed rude to ask them when they were thinking of leaving! This went on for 2 or 3 hours, and I was ready for just leaving, when the first grandparents said they better get off, and offered the other granny a lift. By this time it was 5.00pm, and too late for the woods, and when Matt said, "We'll have to sort out a day to go down to the woods with the slingshots," I realised that he had either not read my text properly, or forgotten entirely, and that while I had not had an unpleasant time, I had effectively wasted an afternoon

Suppose they were wondering when you were going to leave?
LOL! :D Yeah maybe! :D If I'd known we weren't going for a walk, I'd have gone. I don't know if Matt or Ruth, his wife, had said who I was, when they let them in, or maybe on the phone. They seemed quite comfortable with my being there, but I wasn't sure they knew exactly who I was. I've known Matt, a long time, about 25 years or more, but he's only 40, and him, and his wife, and kids treat me as one of the family, so I really don't know. I may have met the granddad before, but I've kind of lost track of his mom's husbands! And when they were going, his mom said that it was nice to see me again, and looked slightly confused when I said it was nice to meet her. It's possible that I might have met both grannies before, in passing, as I've certainly met Ruth's sister several times, and her husband, and kids. However, Matt's mom asked me if I was staying there, and seemed a little confused when I said I only lived a few streets away. I'll have to ask Matt I guess! :D
Nice photo of OTW Jer, one of your best :)

Thanks Steve, it wasn't a bad afternoon, but bearing in mind my abandoned trip to York yesterday, I don't seem to have accomplished much this weekend :(

In their early 70's and still "middle-aged"? Jack, I think even we are past the halfway point!

Can’t go wrong with that.

I remember you mentioning that a while back, Jack, and I was surprised. For whatever reason, I had thought they were done in roughly equal numbers.

When you first had them made, my instinct was to go for the wood. I like stag, but I’ve never been drawn to it in the same way like other traditional knife enthusiasts are. That said, I’ve been thrilled with stag HHB I won in your GAW last year, and I’m happy to have one of each.

I hate awkward situations like that. At least there was cake. 😉 Sorry you missed out on your woods walk and slingshot target practice.

It’s a bit warm here today. We took the girls to a park this morning before it got too hot, and then grabbed lunch. I need to mow the yard, which I’m hoping to do a bit later in the day, as long as it doesn’t rain (there’s a slight chance over the next few hours).
