LOL! Yeah, I find it increasingly hard to tell how old, or young, anyone is Vince, or remember how old I am myself! In their early 70's and still "middle-aged"? Jack, I think even we are past the halfway point!
I've lost track of a few relatives!I've got a couple of relatives whose husbands I've lost track of!
No Barrett, I'd figured folks would want as much of that vintage Sambar as possible, and while I knew I could always get hold of more Rosewood, the Sambar was very limited. There was a greater disparity in price than I'd expected though, which I dare say was a factor for some folks. By the time the Barlows were finished, John Maleham had sold the firm, and I wasn't dealing with him anymore, which made a huge difference. Previously, I'd always picked up knives unpackaged, but when I picked up the Barlows, they were tightly wrapped in plastic. I was, however, given a solemn promise that they had all been carefully inspected, and as some of you know, that turned out to be a pack of lies. I'm glad that you like the stag model, but I paid for better quality stag than thatI remember you mentioning that a while back, Jack, and I was surprised. For whatever reason, I had thought they were done in roughly equal numbers.
When you first had them made, my instinct was to go for the wood. I like stag, but I’ve never been drawn to it in the same way like other traditional knife enthusiasts are. That said, I’ve been thrilled with stag HHB I won in your GAW last year, and I’m happy to have one of each.

Yeah, doesn't happen to me often these days!I hate awkward situations like that. At least there was cake.Sorry you missed out on your woods walk and slingshot target practice.
Beautiful photo Barrett, the weather is kind of variable in Minnesota isn't it?!It’s a bit warm here today. We took the girls to a park this morning before it got too hot, and then grabbed lunch. I need to mow the yard, which I’m hoping to do a bit later in the day, as long as it doesn’t rain (there’s a slight chance over the next few hours).

Ugh!My first energy drink in two months. I'm a weak individual. Jack can cut out meat and I can't quit a drink that will surely kill me in the future lol.

LOL!He can cut out meat AND alcohol!
I was getting a beer out of the fridge last week, and spotted a bottle of Chardonnay in there, and thought I'd have a glass. Half an hour later, the bottle was gone, and while I thoroughly enjoyed it, I figured that a month of sobriety might do me good!Alcohol would be impossible. I need it. Wait.........that sounds horrible![]()

I did that. The meat has returned, but the alcohol is gone for good.He can cut out meat AND alcohol!
Would rather stab my own eyes out with rusty barbed wire than drink thatI only tasted a Red Bull once Paul! Not an experience I'd want to repeat!

Wow! I reckon you most certainly do!BTW, I have some nice Horn, including that lovely Redhead!
ultracrepidarian
I may have misunderstood the topic of discussion…
Glorious instruments in the horn section Jack! Here's most of my Lambsfoot knives with horn covers, I probably have about half a dozen or so more
Just so happens I was watching footage of the UK 2023 cheese rolling races today!Kind of weird, but I've gone off cheese
Incredibly beautiful Albers Jeff.Sorry about the bus lines, Jack, but coffee and BladeForums still makes a nice breakfast, especially when accompanied by a cheesey salty toasted bagle, like I had.

Can never get enough of the Keown.Jack I love those creamsicle horn covers. I’m just hanging out at home this Saturday doing the usual. Got some drizzle but the sun will come out later and it should be a fine beach day. I am again enjoying a big cup of coffee sitting out back with my cat. Got a pic of some turkey babies and a pic of a turkey and a squirrel enjoying breakfast together and a knife pic of course. continue on with a great weekend.

He probably came by to see the Keown.A deer just came by.
Very good.I like how the the word "queue" is self-demonstrating. The first letter does all the work, and the rest of the letters are lined up after it, waiting their turn (which, in their case, will never come, alas)
That stuff looks right up my alley. I would happily take some expired go juice chocolateUgh!![]()
I only tasted a Red Bull once Paul!
Not an experience I'd want to repeat!
I was going to send you a tin of German Schokakola, but I noticed my stock was out of date, and while it tastes OK to me, it seemed rude to give it someone who has never tried it before

Tool Man could probably handle your extra booze problemLOL!Yes, I'm having a month on the waggon!
I thought that I might struggle to sleep the first couple of nights, but I'm actually sleeping better
I timed it rather badly though, as my house is stocked to the rafters with booze!

Red Bull is nasty! Did help keep me awake on the road a couple of times, but haven't had it in years. If I am on the road and sleepy, I either pull over and nap for a half hour, or buy some Five Hour Energy in a tiny bottle so I can gulp it down quickly like a shot of tequila. Over with quickly, unlike Red Bull, which is probaly 8 ounces or so.Would rather stab my own eyes out with rusty barbed wire than drink that. Yes my friend i am completely 100% with you on this one.

I'm glad that you like the stag model, but I paid for better quality stag than thatI had hoped to do an ebony Hartshead Barlow for 2020, and even paid for a sample, but the build quality was absolutely appalling, it is possibly the worst knife I've ever seen from Wright's
At the same times as picking up that sample, I was supposed to pick up a sample for another knife, which wasn't even made, and 2 runs with Bagpipe Ebony, most of which, apart from one or two knives, were given away, as I wasn't prepared to sell them, even at cost

Haha! .......Hey!Maybe by “middle-aged” he meant “from the Middle Ages”…![]()
Pizza!What else is there?!
We could probably all learn a lesson from SlimlineI did that. The meat has returned, but the alcohol is gone for good.
I may level out to a fish-heavy Mediterranean.

Was thinking last week about a regular event that happens here on the Forum and was waiting for a first post. Didn't have to wait long, was just checking in on Monday morning and there it was, the first post. Let the games begin. I have cleaned that last statement up a bit..
Thanks buddy, had to do something with the excess I had in the fridge!Glorious instruments in the horn section Jack!

I'll have to send you a tin Paul, I don't eat it often, which is why I have several out of date tins! That stuff looks right up my alley. I would happily take some expired go juice chocolate![]()

Absolutely Barrett, the stag can be mediocre, and it isn't always hafted well. In Sheffield, in the past few decades, they tend to cut the poor quality stag thick, and then grind off most of what little bark there isThat makes sense, Jack. I know I’m in the minority when it comes to stag. To be honest, I do like it quite a bit when it’s good, but it can be such a gamble, especially on more recently produced knives, that I just tend to go for other materials.
YepThat’s a shame about all the rest, of course, especially the Ebony HHB, which could’ve been a real gem.![]()
Not long until Yorkshire Day!I was looking for another Hartshead pic to post and I settled on this one because, hey, it’s not too long until August 1st.

I guess the lovely Minnesota summers are some compensation for the hard winters my friendIt can be, although this time of year it’s hard to complain too much.
![]()
Thankfully we didn’t end up getting any rain today, and I was able to get the yard mowed, and 90% of the trimming done, before my weed eater suddenly ran out of line (and of course I didn’t have any on hand to replace it with).I also seem to have misplaced my good work gloves, so I’ll have to buy another pair.
Pizza!
A remarkable example for sure Jack.We could probably all learn a lesson from SlimlineCelloDan

I can also understand why dealers and manufacturers prefer to have knives with covers that use material with little or no variation, because horn or stag leads to more work in terms of dealing with their customers
Yep![]()

I'm not getting much pizza lately either, as the owner of my favourite Leeds pizza joint recently retired!
Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone had a great weekend, and that you're ready to do battle with another weekI have a bit of work to do, and then I need to call in at my docs, to see why my prescription request, last week, hasn't been actioned yet, and then head to the post office in town, probably calling in at Charlie's along the way
Since it's been a while since it was last in my pocket, I thought I'd carry my 'rare' Hartshead Barlow in Rosewood
Have a good day Guardians

I've known plenty where it just came naturally.he's worked hard to get to be that stupid,
Thanks Bob, I called in the docs, and asked what happened to the repeat prescription I ordered on Tuesday. They said they sent it to the pharmacy on Friday. Rang the pharmacy, and they said they'd try to have it ready "by the end of today"A remarkable example for sure Jack.
I wish you luck with your doc. Drugs ,a necessary evil and an inconvenience to get.
