Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I hope everyone will have a relaxing weekend. Golf and gardening today. The magnolias are blooming out back finally.
My wife left for Georgia, so maybe I will try some gas station burritos that Paul/ jakeywax31 always recommends.😃View attachment 2213714
Great photo Bob, gorgeous K'roo :) Sounds like you have a plan my friend! :D

Nice to see another of your books Jer :) I'm sure I still have a few, but I'm pretty sure I've given my two LOfty Wiseman books away, more than once :D I might have one of the mini editions
This is a good one, too, even though it's shaped almost like a book.

Maybe Lofty owned the paving-slab format.

Jack might be off to the races, then the opera. 🤣 🤣 🤣

He is a very dynamic gentleman Leon.

I'm afraid I didn't get very far gents, I sprained my ankle, close to the bottom of my street, for the fourth time since Christmas! The pavements and road would give Bulgaria a run for it's money! Apart from Council neglect, the main problem is that both the pavements, and the road, are being constantly dug up by private (mainly internet) companies, who just patch up the holes they've dug with tarmac. On a less bright day, I might record a video of it, but you can get an idea of the state of the road from these photos

LOL! :D Good observation Jer! :D

Rosie is patiently waiting on me to finish the project. View attachment 2213776waiting to go to work View attachment 2213777

Looking good Daniel :)

After slowly hobbling back up the road to get a cane, and taking some more photos, I hobbled down to Charlie's, and then caught a bus to the post office up the road, before returning home again. It's pretty hot outside

It turns out that I do have a version Jer :D

I bought this as a youngster, and read it cover to cover many times. I'd say it was a pretty influential book in my life :) So, it was one of my proudest moments when, many years later, Tony Greenbank approached me, and told me how much he always enjoyed my writing  I was at an outdoor trade show for a few days, and after dinner with a fairly select group of people, I was having a drink with a British SBS guy, when Tony walked up. After he walked away again, me and the feller I was talking to were left speechless, and reduced to pointing at his back, mouthing 'Tony Greenbank! Tony Greenbank!' like a couple of schoolgirls! :D

I quite like this one, I picked up 5 years or so back. Unlike many of the authors of these survival books, the writer has a good sense of humour, which makes it a more enjoyable book to read

Jack, sorry to hear about your ankle 😟 You might need to start wearing an ankle brace or boots to support that ankle better.
Thanks Steve, I wear boots a lot. I'm hoping I haven't broken my foot, as the pain halfway down my foot is worse than the ankle. When I can make that video, I think I might start legal action, it's absolutely crazen. Imagine if you had poor or impaired eyesight! 😱🙄👍

Thank you Bob, I put some ice on it earlier, rubbed in some Ibuprofen gel, and elevated it for a couple of hours. I'll be doing the same again shortly

I had some old friends visiting Leeds, who I was reluctant to miss, (even though I'm on the waggon), so I took my shillelagh out with me, caught a taxi both ways, and rested it while I was out. It was nice to see my old friends, one of whom I haven't seen for years, and meet a few of their friends I didn't know. I was talking to a young woman called Rosie, and when she introduced herself, I told her I thought it was a nice name, but managed to refrain from explaining why! :D

I hope everyone is having a nice day. Hot weather sends everyone a bit crazy here, particularly younger folk, and it was very busy indeed in the area I've just been to, which is one of Leeds' student areas! Me and my friends seemed to be the only people who weren't drunk, and in fancy dress!

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. Sorry to hear about the ankle Jack. They need to be holding those companies accountable to the contact for curb cut utility repair. Likely someone in city government is responsible for inspecting the work afterwards and is not doing that.
😑

Pete, that bone seems to be getting better with time.

Thanks Pete, it doesn't seem like anyone is inspecting the work. I'll be writing to the Councillor about it, posting a video, and consulting some ambulance-chasing firm of lawyers! It's always a treat to see your Blood Lamb my friend :)

Had some fancy sharp stuff in the pockets early and then swapped for a more utilitarian setup. The rosewood Lamb (a gift from a high quality Guardian btw) is a beast around the property.

We hiked and swam and partied earlier in the week. Now the minions get a solid dose of manual labor.

I don’t like paying for mulch, especially when that extra hundred bucks needs to be funding a knife purchase! That’s when we get these capable lil warriors out here raking up pine needles.

I have no clue what the blonde boy is wearing. He could be color blind 😂.

Jack here in the states, no company can perform work in the rights-of-way without a contract or license agreement. Those documents will have requirements for the private company to return the pavement to pre work conditions.

Problem is, if the city is not following up on the work then they well get crappy work repairs, usually. Ask me how I know. 😂

You may wish to go speak in citizens comment. Shame is a powerful motivator. Good luck.
