Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I got this old spoke-shave from Tool Man for a couple of Quid. Might be useful for thinning out my walking sticks

Thanks Jack and cool old spokeshave !
Thanks Steve, Tool Man reckoned it was probably over a hundred years old. I don't know, but that's true of a lot of the old tools on his stall. I guess I would consider a knife from the 1920's to be a particularly old knife :)

Bienvenue! Welcome to the Guardians my friend, and thanks for showing your Lambsfoot :) Sheffield cutlers call those covers 'Bexoid' or 'Bex' after an earlier form of plastic they used, of that name.
Hi Jack, I was wondering if anyone knows what the current plastic material that is used is called. I am thinking of a "Bex" handle for summer carry in the hot Texas sun. Natural stuff tends to change dimensions and I just want something that doesn't mind getting in my pocket with my keys. Thanks!

Dang Jack that’s the saddest cup of coffee, your coffee pics are usually so good
Just on my way to to a medical appointment, and called in for a coffee in yet another gentrified area. Dippy hippy behind the counter didn't have the energy to say 'Hello', and then after I ordered a coffee, told me that they didn't have any indoor seating! Sure enough, they had given over the back room, where the seating used to be to a small amount of patchouli-smelling hippy tat, which was for sale at silly prices. I guess time machines are expensive! Nothing Sixties about the rip-off prices though, and I got my $4 coffee in a sealed paper cup. A sign advertised their 'Secret sun-trap garden' at the rear'. No more honest than calling brown water coffee! Never trust a hippy! 🤨

Hope you find your AC soon mate!

I’m sure it’ll turn up. I’ve been trying to think of when I saw it last. I looked back through my Imgur account and the most recent pic I could find was from 2+ years ago. 😳 I’m certain I’ve seen it more recently that that, and I know it’s around here somewhere, but it may have found a good little hidey-hole that’ll take some looking to uncover.

Yeah, but he's soft! 🤣

🤣🤣

LOL! :D Yeah, I never saw much of my dad growing up, as he was always at work, so I wanted a job where I could spend plenty of time with my own kids :) I was lucky to just fall into one :D Do my kids appreciate it?!;)

I can certainly understand that, Jack.

An old Land Rover, and i mean the old work horse Land Rover. Not the new ones that are designed for urban and highway driving. 🤣 🤣 🤣

I figured, either way, you were talking about an old one. I saw a new Land Rover driving on the highway recently, had every accessory you could probably get — massive roof rack, jerry cans, even a snorkel. All pristine. I’d be willing to bet it had never left the pavement.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

This was with my survival books, of all things.
I'd forgotten all about the Military Book Club.
This guy uses a lot of the same drawings as Wiseman. I don't think it's a direct ripoff, though, and if it is, it will be easier to carry.
Nice to see another of your books Jer :) I'm sure I still have a few, but I'm pretty sure I've given my two LOfty Wiseman books away, more than once :D I might have one of the mini editions

It certainly isn't Bexoid :D The stuff they use on Lambsfoot knives, is blacker, and harder, than the old Bex, and possibly more brittle, but it seems pretty functional. When I've asked Sheffield cutlers about it, they've always shown a considerable degree of disinterest, and a lack of knowledge. To them, it's just something they get from a supplier, that looks a bit like the old stuff, and comes at the right price. They can be a bit like that with steel and HT. Sorry I can't help more Bart

I 'lose' stuff like that all the time mate, generally turns up before too long :) Surprising where stuff can get to though

As a loving dad, I'm sure you can relate Barrett :) As you know, you don't get that time back

Good morning Guardians, supposed to be up in the high 90's here this weekend, which is pretty hot for the UK. I don't know what the temperature is now, but it looks pleasantly sunny outside. I'm hoping to get some gardening this week, but I'll be picking a time when it isn't too hot! ;) I'm also be meeting some old friends for a drink later, but I'm currently on the waggon! :D Back with my Hartshead Barlow today, shown here with something I acquired from Golden Gordon, at the market, the other day :) Have a great weekend Guardians
