Been happening for a long time now my friend. It is sad, but it is the commercial realization of tourist companies and the local people. It is a way for the locals to make an income, but i believe they are beginning to regret it now. They hold the Mountains in such high regard and to have them disrespected and left with bodies every where does not sit at all well with them. The average person has no idea how many die just on Everest and a lot cannot be brought down and are left there. When you see the amount of gear left on these mountains it is sickening. My Rant for the week. Thanks Jack. It's sad how commercialized and spoiled climbing the peaks are becoming.
Thank you for that imput. I know I will not live forever, but I would like to control the quality of my remaining years.Very interesting mate. I have been being trained by someone for the last 8 months. Her whole ethos is based around food and diet. One of the things she got me to do was change when i had my last caffeine/energy hit. I used to not have any after 4PM, it is now 11AM, with that and cleaning up my diet i had no idea how much better i would feel, but my sleep is just a better quality sleep.. Have a good week.

That is exactly what i decided to do. As i enter what is essentially the last stage of my life on Earth, i want to be in as much control as possible. It may sound morbid, but it is not, it is just reality.I know I will not live forever, but I would like to control the quality of my remaining years.
Leon, “Here we are we are born to be kings we’re the princes of the universe”. Don’t know about you but like Conner McCloud said, “I was born 500 years ago in the highlands of Scotland and I am immortal”. So…I plan on sticking around a while. That is exactly what i decided to do. As i enter what is essentially the last stage of my life on Earth, i want to be in as much control as possible. It may sound morbid, but it is not, it is just reality.. Great Minds think alike.

I have been absent the last couple of days. If anything was directed towards me and I missed it, I apologize. Flying back to Texas in the morning. About to head off near the airport and get a hotel room. I hope everyone had a great weekend. 93 Charlie lamb in the pocket today.

At the airport lambless. I hope they are nice and safe being loaded on the correct airplane. Know where can I find some coffee
. Hope everyone is having a good one.
They give out the temperature in Celsius here these days, which I am only vaguely familiar with, and so when I heard it was going to be 30 degrees this weekend, I just knew it was going to be hotter than last week. I was talking to a middle-aged couple, and was surprised when they referred to the temperature in Celsius. I said that I was still on 'old money', and the chap told me 30 degrees was 96F. So, yesterday, I kept thinking, 'Well, it's a nice day, but it feels more like the 80's than the 90's.' On the radio, they tend to focus on London and the south, where the weather can be very different to the north, where I live. I just looked it up though, 30C is 86F, not 96F!![]()
I've been sat outside in my front garden, finishing the novel I took to Bulgaria, and hoping there might be something of worth in the final few chaptersI was disappointed, but enjoying sitting out in the sunshine
![]()
You should reread Moby Dick, David Copperfield, 1984, and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. You won't be disappointed then! (My favourite novels, by the way, if Homer, Dante, & Shakespeare don't count as novelists. Oh, and whoever wrote Beowulf!)
I don't know, Barrett. I've read a lot of modern novels, but none as good as the four I mentioned (three from 19th century and one from the 20th). Maybe the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. I've enjoyed John Le Carré's books, and Frederick Forsythe too, but wouldn't rank them with Melville, Twain, Dickens, and Orwell. Dostoevsky is great--another 19th century writer. Maybe Tolstoy and Hugo. 19th century again. Just my opinion.I love the classics, Vince, but there’s tons of great literature that was written more recently than 150 years ago.(Ok, you did say 1984, which is only 75 years old.)

I hope you enjoy the book Bob, Krakauer's stuff is always good, but I think this book transcends the genre, and like Joe Simpson's Touching The Void, for example, would be of interest, even to those with little interest in mountaineeringNo, but now I will search for it.
I'm fortunate, in that my back yard, at my cabin, is the Adirondack forest. We have 43 peaks from 4-5000 feet not the ultimate heights, but solitude is easy to find.
To keep it germane. View attachment 2216959
Edit:
Book is on its way.
Thank you SteveThanks Jack and cool pic !

It certainly has Leon, too many selfish people who just want to bag a big hill. Some of them are so desperate to summit on Everest, they walk right past their dying fellow mountaineers. Many don't have the skills or experience to be on a big mountain, but buy their place on a phoney "expedition". When you're struggling to breathe in a white-out at 7000M, your money won't save you, as Krakauer's book adroitly chroniclesBeen happening for a long time now my friend. LOL!Well, what’s 10 degrees really?![]()
Thanks Barrett, I don't read too many duds thankfullySorry your book was disappointing, Jack. I was thinking about your Bulgarian vacation recently. My wife and I are watching a show called Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss. The premise of the show is exploring what makes certain places happier than others. We’re only two episodes in so far. The first episode was Iceland, which (along with other Nordic countries) regularly ranks among the happiest countries in the world. Episode 2, as a sort of counterpoint, focused on a country that ranks near the bottom of those lists: Bulgaria.
LOL!This weekend we had a great meal at a local restaurant, good food and a few different interesting beers, and I actually had two Lambsfoot knives with me, but we were eating with a friend of my wife’s from work and her husband, both of whom I met for the first time, so knife pics felt a little too awkward.(I ended up carrying two Lambs because, as we were walking out the door, I realized I didn’t have a knife in my pocket, so I went and grabbed my Albers Lamb. Later, at dinner, I reached in my pocket and realized I’d already had my stag HHB in there and had just missed it when I was checking before.)
Not eating after 4.30pm has made a huge difference to how I sleep![]()

I hope everyone's week got off to a good start
Hot and sunny here again today, 'hot' being relative of course, but it'll do for me!
I had decided to carry my Hartshead Barlow today, but then Lady Luck handed me a second Lambsfoot for Random Tuesday, so I'm also carrying the Joseph Rodgers Shadow Lamb that Paul
Jakeywax31 gifted me recently
Have a great day Guardians
