Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I have been meaning to get a new chair for my desk recently, and when I saw a proper Bond Villain chair on sale recently, I thought I'd bite the bullet. The chair arrived yesterday, and wrestling it up the stairs wasn't much fun with a bad back, it weighs more than my sofa, and is certainly the heaviest thing I've lifted since I've been an old man! The last time I bought a chair of this type online, it took me 10 minutes to assemble, but with this one I have to build it virtually from scratch. Me and my Hartshead Barlow spent half an hour on it this morning. When folks say they don't use their knives, or even don't carry one, I just don't know how they go on. If it wasn't for my Barlow, I couldn't have even got started, and it's helped me every step of the way. Since I had to go out, I took out the huge cardboard box the chair had shipped in, and took it outside for my Hartshead Barlow to cut up for disposal. Then we went for a coffee, and being as the lad had worked so hard, I thought I'd shell out for a blueberry muffin ;)

As I left Charlie's, it started raining, and by the time I got into town, it was coming down heavily. First thing I needed to do was go to the post office to mail @mitch13 's giveaway prize, but unfortunately I got some idiot behind the counter, who told me that I couldn't put a "weapon" in the post. Now, of course, you can put a pocket-knife in the mail, and that's quite clear if you bother to read the post office's own rules, but unfortunately, they have used a knife for their 'no weapons' symbol! It's not the first time I've had this happen, but I usually use the self-service machines so I don't have to deal with stupid people. However, changes in their rules means that you have to take all overseas packages to the counter. I'll just have to go to a different post office, and hope I get someone with some intelligence next time

Reckon, I'm going to be messing around with that chair for the rest of the day! o_O
Obviously it's very dangerous to the Great British Public to mail packages to other countries.

Sometimes it seems obvious that the authorities know they are ineffectual so they're trying to fake it with random displays of power.

don't mind the heat, but the humidity is a killer here!

I heard that some States are experiencing searing temperatures at the moment, so I hope everyone has access to shade, and plenty of water. And hopefully AC! That's a handsome knife my friend 👍
It’s been pretty brutal down here. Thursday afternoon I found myself on the roof of one of our fire stations evaluating a broken HVAC unit with the guys. We weren’t up there very long but everyone’s shirt was soaked through before we climbed down. Just wicked heat. I took this two pictures the last two days when I pulled into the driveway after work. This morning with a favorite. 👍👍

People are being burned by their hats and seatbelts, I hear.
The fall of Ontario Knife Company may not be our biggest problem.

Nice pic of your HHB !
Thank you Steve

Crazy isn't it? The new regs, (where every single item has to be listed, with value and weight, not just by the sender, but all that info, along with the names and addresses of the sender and recipient, have to be typed into the computer by someone at the post office, which can take from 20-40 minutes), must have put enough people from using Royal Mail, but unfortunately the counter workers can't even learn, or just read, their own regulations! In this case, weapons are one of the items you may not post, but the prohibited weapons are listed, they're things like hand-grenades, rocket launchers, etc, not pocket knives, which aren't prohibited at all! 🤬

You are one of the people I thought about when I read the news this morning, here, Pete. The sort of temperatures you're seeing are bad enough for ANYONE, but some folks still have to work, and there are people who are struggling to find shade and water, let alone AC. I sure hope everyone is going to be OK 🤞Nice shot of the Blood Lamb

You have some beautiful country down there Pete , but I'll wait for winter to enjoy it!! Mr.Kroo is just amazing.🫡

I'm just having a break for some Sicilian lemonade and a couple of samosas :) I don't have much more to do on that chair. I've been an industrial plant fitter, a vehicle mechanic, and once volunteered for a charity refurbishing wheelchairs, and I'd say that putting the darn thing together has been harder than reassembling a wheelchair! 😖 No wonder Bond villains always need a sidekick or two around! 🧐

My approximately 40-year old Whataburger Nickel Coffee mug. When it came out, Whataburger was probably charging a quarter for a cup of coffee. With this cup you could get it for a nickel. Lots of old guys would meet at Whataburger and stay for hours! I think the promotion only lasted a couple of years. I would try taking it to Whataburger today, but I can get free "senior coffee" now!

Thanks Jack, we have an igloo water barrel on every crew truck and starting last year we distribute a 20 oz Gatorade to each crew memeber for each shift. We do what we can…

Holy smokes. Glad he is ok. I would have to be sprinting to the nearest epi pen if one of those suckers tagged me in the face 😳

I did not realize the fires were still a problem. ☹😟That is an eerie sunrise.
Great capture of your lamb Steve.👌

Thanks Bob, yes there are still a lot of fires going on.

This is a great site for monitoring air quality and also fires

Good morning and Happy Saturday !

We have a bad air warning in effect for the weekend as the Canadian smoke has made it's way back down here

Woke up to a very eery sunrise this morning

If you catch it early, DiphenHydramine commonly sold as allergy medicine or a sleep aid is generic Benadryl and works really well with insect stings.

As a beekeeper and rancher, I keep some in a little vial around my neck mainly for hornets or "hot" bee hives. They take the pain and swelling out of a sting really well for me.

For ~$3 for a bottle of 500, great medicine for a runny nose mowing or an insect sting.

Glad he's a trooper like his dad.
I hope you get to put your feet up soon, or dip the hook in a river soon.
