Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

It’s been pretty brutal down here. Thursday afternoon I found myself on the roof of one of our fire stations evaluating a broken HVAC unit with the guys. We weren’t up there very long but everyone’s shirt was soaked through before we climbed down. Just wicked heat. I took this two pictures the last two days when I pulled into the driveway after work. This morning with a favorite. 👍👍

Our local weatherman is broken. :(

Good morning, Guardians. I'm staying indoors this weekend, and carrying a little stag.

Ouch! Poor lad :( Hope the weekend is trouble-free Paul
He is doing well. He is back at grandma's and playing in the backyard. Looking forward to my day off tomorrow, Jack. Hope you have a great weekend.
If you catch it early, DiphenHydramine commonly sold as allergy medicine or a sleep aid is generic Benadryl and works really well with insect stings.

As a beekeeper and rancher, I keep some in a little vial around my neck mainly for hornets or "hot" bee hives. They take the pain and swelling out of a sting really well for me.

For ~$3 for a bottle of 500, great medicine for a runny nose mowing or an insect sting.
Thanks for the tip 😃. I will certainly pick some up.
Glad he's a trooper like his dad.
I hope you get to put your feet up soon, or dip the hook in a river soon.
Got a 9:00 am tee time tomorrow with the boys!!!!

If I can help in any way, by explaining our strange language and customs, for example, or with anything else, please let me know my friend :)

Thanks Pete, I'm off at Christmas again :)
Sheffield: the Pittsburgh of Britain. It's like your grandmother's house, full of old stuff, but the people are just like us! 🤣

Love the look on your daughter's face Barrett..... Priceless.

Thanks, Bob. Scout thought the llamas were hilarious (especially when they made noises), but she wasn’t sure at first about getting close enough to touch one. She did warm up to them eventually.

They're identical twins Barrett! Got to be in their 40's at least, but they still go out dressed the same, or at least similarly. Notice the identical tattoo on their right calves!🤣

I did notice the tattoos. 🤣

LOL! :D Oddly, every week, when I'm standing next to Tool Man, every new customer thinks it's MY stall, rather than HIS. When I tell them it's Tool Man's stall, they glance at him, and then look back at me, as if I'm joking with them! It happens a dozen times every Thursday, at least, and I find it so bizarre, because Tool Man is there next to me, and it's not like he doesn't look like he might have a tool stall!😵‍💫

Well if he ever owes you money, you can just make a few sales and pocket the cash. 😉

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is doing OK, and that you have something to look forward to this weekend. Brother Tony, who I was supposed to be meeting for a drink today, has to work, which is one of the reasons I went out last night. The other was the awful weather we had here, all that rain in July had me hankering for some margaritas! :D Mexican restaurants aren't too common here, but there's a small one about a mile from where I live, and I used to eat there regularly. I don't know how the food compares, but the staff were all Mexican, and it was a bit of a centre for local Latin Americans. Unfortunately, it doesn't have an outdoor dining area, so suffered during the pandemic, and was closed for a while. I wasn't going to bother booking, as I wanted to eat early, but I'm glad I did, as they were turning folks away. First though, I went for a couple of pints at a small bar nearby. I know the two guys who own this place, and it was the second bar they opened. Not much more than 15 years ago, they were both doing shifts behind their first bar, in the city centre. Now they own a dozen bars, two breweries, and heaven knows what else!

After sipping my way through a couple of pints, I headed to the Mexican place, and ordered my first Tommy's Margarita :) The menu was very different to the one I remember, and I wonder if it has changed hands. The kitchen staff were speaking Spanish, but the manager was Indian. I ordered some nachos, but the portion was larger than in the past, and it probably wasn't the best starter, particularly as I'd also ordered some loaded fries.

Are tacos always that small? I really don't know, but they were filling anyway, and after several more margaritas, I decided to skip dessert, and get a taxi home. Going out cost me £75, but it was a nice treat. Probably order different food if I go to that Mexican place again

Back to today, and I need to go into town to buy some groceries, but I think I'll call in at Charlie's for a coffee first ;) Have a great day Guardians :)

Hartshead Barlow in my pocket

Looks like you were living it up, Jack. Nachos and loaded fries is the kind of move I’d make. 😁

Good morning and Happy Saturday !

We have a bad air warning in effect for the weekend as the Canadian smoke has made it's way back down here

Woke up to a very eery sunrise this morning

Cheers Guardians !

It did look pretty rough out this morning. Thankfully, at least over here on the west side of town, it cleared up pretty well by noon. We had a pool event where my wife works that the girls had been looking forward to, and it ended up being a pretty nice day for it.

A nice day at work. Yesterday not so much lol. Came home to my son who was attack by a couple hornets at grandma's house. He took it better than I thought. One got him right on the lip too.....Ouch!!!! Carrying my HHB today. Hope everyone is having a great day and weekend.

Well at least his job should easy for the week. “It’s hot. Back to you, Bob.” 🙂 Hope you can stay cool!

Wow..the roads must be melting Rachel. I really like that worn stag. Glad you are staying safe in that heat.
I just shake my head when some people say " but it's a dry heat".

Having lived near Phoenix for several years, where that was the summertime mantra, I will say there is some truth to it. But when you get up to 115° or 120° (the hottest day we experienced while living there), you don’t really care how dry it is. 🥵

We spent several hours at the pool today. Not exactly my favorite thing to do, but the girls had a great time, the weather was nice enough, and I mostly sat in the shade, so I couldn’t complain too much. Plus, there was beer and food. 😉

There were lots of activities for the kids, including face-painting, which I’m not really sure goes well with swimming… 🤣

I’ve been feeling fancy all week totin’ this Damascus Lamb in prolonged celebration of the 4,000 page mark in this thread. One of Jack’s nice tweed pocket slips has been keeping it safe. 😎

I'm doing my best, but at almost 9pm it's just down to 98 degrees outside. Not getting relief at night is what wears you down. I've got central air conditioning, but I've been keeping it set to 82, just so the compressor isn't running constantly.

That sounds like a great day. What a lunch! 😋 Have I mentioned I'm on a low sodium diet these days?
Haha! I love it!

It got a bit better here as well by late afternoon 👍

Thanks Bob, yes there are still a lot of fires going on.

That's the sort of daft thing the British say about weather! :D When I was a kid, you could hire deckchairs at the beach, (probably still can in some places), and they also sold wind-breaks, which were called 'sun-traps'! 😖😂

They're an odd pair! :D They spend a lot of time huddled together, but never seem to speak to anyone else :D
Well if he ever owes you money, you can just make a few sales and pocket the cash. 😉
I'm always taking money for him, because he's so inattentive, and frequently wanders off! :D I once had to tell him off, because he disappeared for over an hour. By the time he strolled back, munching a large pork pie, I had taken £45, which was more than he'd taken all day! 😏
Looks like you were living it up, Jack. Nachos and loaded fries is the kind of move I’d make. 😁
LOL! :D It wasn't my best menu decision! 😂 The last time I was there, the nachos serving was half that size ;) I didn't make much of an inroad into the fries! :D

The English equivalent is probably, "Well, it'll be good for the gardens." A really annoying thing to hear when it's rained all summer 😖

Wow, good crowd Pete, sounds like a great night out :)

Good morning Guardians, had some connection problems this morning, so I'm a bit late getting online. I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend :)

When I was buying a sourdough loaf yesterday, I also picked up some focaccia. I usually buy the seasalt and rosemary, but they had baked garlic and rosemary this week. I wasn't hungry, so just had a couple of fat slices, with some decent olive oil, and some stuff I brought back from Bulgaria. The Bulgarian tradition is to have the mixture of salt and spices with bread, which they sort of squash into it. I think my jar will be going in the bin! 😣

I'm afraid my back is still very sore, and it's making life difficult. Putting together this darn chair didn't help, but the box took up so much space, I had to put it together. Can't say I'm very impressed with it, and I doubt it will be that long before I have to look for another

The weather is a little better here today, but I need to try and get some housework done, so I think I'm going to be indoors all day. Carrying my Albers :) Hope you all have a great Sunday Guardians :)
