Thanks Bob, yes there are still a lot of fires going on.

This is a great site for monitoring air quality and also fires
AirNow is your one-stop source for air quality data. Our recently redesigned site highlights air quality in your local area first, while still providing air quality information at state, national, and world views.

Our local weatherman is broken.
Good morning, Guardians. I'm staying indoors this weekend, and carrying a little stag.
I guess it's kind of easy being a weatherman in Texas?

Glad to hear you're OK Rachel, great pic there
Wow..the roads must be melting Rachel. I really like that worn stag. Glad you are staying safe in that heat.
I just shake my head when some people say " but it's a dry heat".

That's the sort of daft thing the British say about weather!

When I was a kid, you could hire deckchairs at the beach, (probably still can in some places), and they also sold wind-breaks, which were called 'sun-traps'!

Looks like they still have them!
Thanks Pete
He is doing well. He is back at grandma's and playing in the backyard. Looking forward to my day off tomorrow, Jack. Hope you have a great weekend.
That's good to hear Paul, I hope you enjoy your day off

All good here buddy
Sheffield: the Pittsburgh of Britain. It's like your grandmother's house, full of old stuff, but the people are just like us!
You watched it!

It was longer than I expected, should have looked first (I was hoping it would be a bit more like the classic Burgess Meredith one)!

I love those old information films!
SpaceLamb! SpaceLamb!

Wouldn't that make a great TV series?!

Looking good David
I did notice the tattoos.
They're an odd pair!

They spend a lot of time huddled together, but never seem to speak to anyone else
Well if he ever owes you money, you can just make a few sales and pocket the cash.
I'm always taking money for him, because he's so inattentive, and frequently wanders off!

I once had to tell him off, because he disappeared for over an hour. By the time he strolled back, munching a large pork pie, I had taken £45, which was more than he'd taken all day!
Looks like you were living it up, Jack.

Nachos
and loaded fries is the kind of move I’d make.
LOL!

It wasn't my best menu decision!

The last time I was there, the nachos serving was half that size

I didn't make much of an inroad into the fries!
It did look pretty rough out this morning. Thankfully, at least over here on the west side of town, it cleared up pretty well by noon. We had a pool event where my wife works that the girls had been looking forward to, and it ended up being a pretty nice day for it.
That's great mate
Having lived near Phoenix for several years, where that was the summertime mantra, I will say there is some truth to it. But when you get up to 115° or 120° (the hottest day we experienced while living there), you don’t really care how dry it is.
The English equivalent is probably, "Well, it'll be good for the gardens." A really annoying thing to hear when it's rained all summer
We spent several hours at the pool today. Not exactly my favorite thing to do, but the girls had a great time, the weather was nice enough, and I mostly sat in the shade, so I couldn’t complain too much. Plus, there was beer and food.
Glad to hear you were taken care of Barrett, that sammich looks great!
Aww

Is that how it's staying?!
I’ve been feeling fancy all week totin’ this Damascus Lamb in prolonged celebration of the 4,000 page mark in this thread. One of Jack’s nice tweed pocket slips has been keeping it safe.
Glad to hear you've been enjoying it my friend
I'm doing my best, but at almost 9pm it's just down to 98 degrees outside. Not getting relief at night is what wears you down. I've got central air conditioning, but I've been keeping it set to 82, just so the compressor isn't running constantly.
That doesn't sound fun Rachel, particularly as it's ongoing

Wise move on the compressor though
What a night. Just getting home a few minutes to midnight. The wife took my to see Austin Football Club run with Sporting Kansas City. 2-1 AFC.

Wow, good crowd Pete, sounds like a great night out
Good morning Guardians, had some connection problems this morning, so I'm a bit late getting online. I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend
When I was buying a sourdough loaf yesterday, I also picked up some focaccia. I usually buy the seasalt and rosemary, but they had baked garlic and rosemary this week. I wasn't hungry, so just had a couple of fat slices, with some decent olive oil, and some stuff I brought back from Bulgaria. The Bulgarian tradition is to have the mixture of salt and spices with bread, which they sort of squash into it. I think my jar will be going in the bin!
I'm afraid my back is still very sore, and it's making life difficult. Putting together this darn chair didn't help, but the box took up so much space, I had to put it together. Can't say I'm very impressed with it, and I doubt it will be that long before I have to look for another
The weather is a little better here today, but I need to try and get some housework done, so I think I'm going to be indoors all day. Carrying my Albers

Hope you all have a great Sunday Guardians
