Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I've heard it said that the best competitive eaters are usually lightly built folks. I'm not saying Tool Man is on a par with Joey Chestnut, but for an old fat bloke, who burns off very few calories, he can certainly put it away! Here he is, in a rare moment of contemplation, before diving into a mid-morning double-cheeseburger! :D

N2WBaFC.jpg

Five minutes later, he was wolfing down numerous portions of the large cake I'd picked up

uIna6V2.jpg

A packet of Cardbury's Chocolate Fingers went down in a trice, and when I said I was going to go for a chip butty, he was trying hard to get me to buy chips and gravy, and I had to remind him, this was MY dinner, not HIS! 🧐

I changed my mind, and got some potato bhajis, of which he ate half, before scoffing two more of the roast beef sandwiches he had brought from home!

Later, he went in search of pork pies, and unable to find ones to his liking, had to settle for a family-sized custard tart, and the rest of the jam sponge! 🤯

The increasingly slimline Special Needs Scott made an appearance, along with Barry The Ted, who insisted on repeating the same lengthy, and very boring tale, three times 😖 Captain Birdseye, Otley Mick, Wolfie, Old Brian, and Harry Hot-Balls made appearances, as did Ex Para Steve. Nobber Al and Boring Ray, have their own stalls of course. It was another quiet day though, and I doubt Tool Man took enough to pay his pastry bill

You would hear me fippil if I had to eat as much as toolman.
What a work of art the singer appears to be.

Glad you survived another Thursday Jack.

😆 🤣 😂. Tool Man sizing up his prey is a sight to behold. Thank you for capturing the moment. Looks like you had a great day at the market, Jack.

Some people (over) eat in order to suppress uncomfortable emotions.

Do you think Tool Man is depressed?

Maybe he just needs a few more pocket knives - usually works for me. 🤣😭

They are fascinating machines Barrett, I have had quite a few over the years :) I told Golden Gordon about the one I saw the other day, and he said that Tom Hanks is a collector apparently

Yes, he’s quite the typewriter enthusiast, with a rather extensive collection. He’s also been known to send typewritten replies to fan mail. Maybe I’ll write to him about his being featured more than once in the traditional knives in movies thread. 😁

That's great to hear Barrett, is it the same in other states? :)

I think it really depends on where you are. Fayetteville, Arkansas, where I lived for many years, had a great public library (in addition to the library at the University). The nearby town where I grew up also had a good library from what I remember, but that’s going back 20+ years. I certainly hope it’s still the case. I don’t know that I ever went to a library when we lived in Arizona.

Another eventful day at the market, Jack. 😁 Surely Tool Man can’t eat like that the rest of the week (and that’s coming from someone who can put away his fair share of junk food)! 🤣

😆 🤣 😂. Tool Man sizing up his prey is a sight to behold. Thank you for capturing the moment.

Could be a documentary narrated by Sir David Attenborough. 🤣

A real nice dinner tonight with btb01 btb01 and his family. Thank you Barrett for a great time. At the hotel pool with my shadow. Tomorrow family trip to El Paso with the family. My hometown fantasy football league will be having our draft. 22nd year we have this league going. Always good to see old friends. Got the Tittusville lamb in the pocket.

Thanks, Paul! It was good to see you again, and nice to meet your family. And it’s always great to talk knives in person (even if it’s in between the wrangling of various wild kiddos). 😉😁

We enjoyed some good local beers, pizza and wings.

Afternoon Guardians! Looks like a good day at the market. Unity Lamb.

Lovely old knife David  That's quite a blade stamp isn't it? I'd say it's quite a bit older than my own

Look what I found at the store today:

Thank you Vince :) Cool pic  Where's JohnDF JohnDF , I was just thinking of him (and Jammie Dodgers) this morning ?! :D
A good day out Jack.
So what is your market name? I can't believe it's just Jack.😧😆
When I first started going to the market, before I knew Tool Man, people just used to refer to me as 'The Knife Man'! :D Tool Man quickly revived my old school nickname, Barn, and he calls me that at least 50% of the time. He almost always refers to me as Barn when talking to others, but I don't think anyone else has ever used it. I always refer to him as Tool Man, but I don't actually call him that when speaking to him :D

I suspect he's just very greedy! :D
"Jolly Jack"? "Blackjack Jack"? If he has a market name, will he tell us? 😝 😜;)

It's gotta be asked.
Of course he will, maybe that's it Honest Jack.
But I'm leaning more towards The edge.

That would actually be "Blackjack Jack Black" 😆
Loving these suggestions guys! :D However, the dynamic around the tool stall is very much me and Tool Man being loud and lary, and laughing at everything and everybody, and everyone else just sort of putting up with us :D We're the only ones who think up nicknames, and it has to be said, they're not always welcome! 🤣 I did tell Scott, who has done very well to lose a lot of weight, that we were thinking of renaming him Slimline Scott, rather than Special Needs Scott, but Tool Man immediately corrected this to 'Slimline Special Needs Scott'! 🤣
Yes, he’s quite the typewriter enthusiast, with a rather extensive collection. He’s also been known to send typewritten replies to fan mail. Maybe I’ll write to him about his being featured more than once in the traditional knives in movies thread. 😁
Give it a go Barrett! :D

The library was such a big part of my life until I was well into my thirties, that it's sad to think that is no longer the case :( I have thought about joining Leeds independent library, but not sure I'd get time to visit. The central library (below) is quite impressive, and the Universities have their own libraries, but many branch libraries have been closed, and the remaining ones are very small. The situation is far worse in Sheffield :(

He says he only eats like that on Thursdays, but then he'll throw in various stories about his other scoffing sessions, such as ordering double fish and chips! :D Tool Man and the Teds are off for their annual pub-crawl and beano in York this weekend, so he'll no doubt, be consuming large quantities of ale, pork pies, and fish and chips :D A tale Tool Man has related to me several times, because he is still very much traumatised by it, is about when he and Mrs Tool Man were staying at a large hotel in Whitby some years ago. They went down for breakfast every day, and Tool Man scoffed the Full English, but being Tool Man, would have liked more food. On the last morning they were there, he asked a passing waiter, if he might have another sausage, and the waiter told him, "You can have as many as you like mate, just help yourself to the buffet over there." It's a story he tells with such REGRET! 🤣
Could be a documentary narrated by Sir David Attenborough. 🤣

That's a great pic Mitch  :)

Wow, that must have been great guys :) I wish I could have sat down with you fellers :) Thanks for the cool pics

Good morning Guardians, we've almost made it through another week! :D I never seem to have enough time these days though! 🤯 The weather is pretty miserable here again, and it's feeling a little cold. Hoping we get at least one good day for the carnival weekend here. All the roads are closed on Sunday and Monday (a holiday here), so I can't go anywhere else anyway! :D I'm hoping to catch up with Wolfie at some point, and my mate Matt, who lives close by, but I usually bump into lots of old friends over the weekend. The local cafes and businesses make a lot of cash over the weekend, but to some extent, that depends upon the weather, so I hope they do OK. I'll be calling in at Charlie's today to ensure they have everything ready! :D Have a good day Guardians :) I'm carrying my lovely Albers Lamb :)
