Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Congrats, Bob, on sailing through the procedure, and Palomino is lookin' mighty svelte!

Thank you Jeff.
That is some special eye candy, and we are not talking corn candy.

These are 8670 Carbon steel, SS liners/bolsters, bronze washers. Modeled after an A. Wright and Sons Sheffield lambs foot. The markings were made using a Gravograph pantograph engraver manually with scratch bit on top of a resist, then electro etched. The same technique was used on the leather slips I made to 'scar' it to show the letters. One is iron wood, one is double red canvas micarta, and the shadow pattern is olive drab green canvas micarta with brass pins, birdseye pivot

Welcome Ashwin. These look great. A couple of hours ago I bought the ironwood lamb. And I hadn’t seen this post yet. I am looking forward to getting it and seeing more of your knives. These knives look well made. Thanks. Best. Kurt.

Looking good David :)

Good evening, Guardians. Working the overnight shift this weekend 😔. A rainy cool night, but got the trusty '19 in tote so all is well. Happy to see our friend Rufus1949 Rufus1949 is on the road to recovery now. You will be on the tee box before you know it.

Happy birthday to cudgee cudgee & Prester John Prester John ? Did I miss someone 😆 🤣 😂.

Sorry to hear about the shifts Paul, but it's nice to see you call in, and I like your pic there 😎 👍

Hi everyone, a quick note to all. Thanks for your thoughts and all is well.

Happy Birthday Vince!!!View attachment 2353686
Glad it went smooth, Bob. Lovely K'roo!!

No big deal, Jack. Nights are quite and peaceful most of the time. Only problem is that I eat everything within arms reach from utter boredom.

Hope everyone is doing well :) I had a major calamity today, when I left my Hartshead Barlow in my other trousers! I felt kind of weird and disorientated all day, and had to borrow Tool Man's knife to cut up cake, and perform a couple of other tasks :( While it overshadowed my day, the weather has been excellent, and Tool Man had a good day, though his stall was unrecognisable, as it was mostly covered with modern tools. It turns out that Tool Man had bought a huge haul off a guy who was being forced to sell them, a colleague of bus driver Otley Mick. It turns out that the bus-driver's canteen has a pretty Brazilian working there, and this feller got more friendly than he should. His missus slung him out, along with all his belongings, which is how Tool Man came by the guy's tools. It's an ill wind...as they say

They may be selling well, but the modern tools are a big step-down in quality, compared to Tool Man's usual stock, so I didn't see much of interest. Boring Ray, who had got a load of other stuff, from the same source, via Tool Man, gave me this comic annual for a publication, which paid a brief, but significant, part in British comic history

Market day without a knife! 😲

From what I could see they were plastic fakes/children's toys! :D Maybe he's still in training! ;) 🤣

I was thinking they didn’t quite look real from the photos, but it was hard to say for sure. I’d have to imagine the local constabulary might not look kindly on that sort of thing, real or otherwise, given the strict firearms laws there. (That said, based on a quick google search, it seems that the purchase and/or possession of shotgun shells might be less regulated than just about any other firearms related item.)

It's amazing what Loopy Juice will do to some people! 🥴

Some really interesting/entertaining reading on the Buckfast Wikipedia page. 🤣 The list of nicknames is great. I also enjoyed this little factoid: “A diet of four bottles a day has been described as ‘not conducive to a long life’ in a Scottish court.”

Dwight, I may be revealing some ignorance here, but… why is your glass of whisky wearing a little wooden hat? 😁

Had my traditional (to me) cigar on Columbus Day (October 12). I always remember it because it's one day after my wedding anniversary and one day before my birthday. May have another tomorrow (it's late on the 12th here in Texas)!
Thanks Lads. Been a very quite one. Days of getting on the tiles well and truly over. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Happy Birthday(s), gents!

Good to hear, Bob! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

How's everyone doing? I've been to town, and got most of my missions accomplished, but before that, I called in at Charlie's. The cafe was packed, and the Italian couple holding the fort were struggling, not least since they only speak a few words of English. I was just speaking to an American guy, and waiting for my coffee, when half a dozen middle-aged guys walked in. All were smartly, and almost identically, dressed, with long black coats. I wasn't sure if they were the Salvation Army or the Cosa Nostra! They turned out to be pallbearers, and had been given 20 minutes away, to go and get a bacon sandwich and a coffee, while a funeral service was going on in the church just up the road. I was too close to take a snap at the counter, but when they sat down, I asked if I might take a couple. Then, half the cafe wanted their photos taken! I might go down with my SLR and a tripod next time! :D

Never a dull moment, Jack! 😁

A shame GEC don't just do another Lambsfoot, or make one for Charlie

I wish they would. I’d like ‘em to do something a bit “stockier” than the #93, more like the dimensions of an A. Wright of Albers. I briefly had one of those #88s, but it wasn’t really for me.

No big deal, Jack. Nights are quiet and peaceful most of the time. Only problem is that I eat everything within arms reach from utter boredom.

I’ve had jobs like that before. One involved being out and about in a company vehicle. Evening shift, not a lot to do, and free rein to get whatever fast food I wanted for dinner. 🙄🤣

Dwight, I may be revealing some ignorance here, but… why is your glass of whisky wearing a little wooden hat?
The little wooden hat is a device used to introduce smoke into the glass and thus into the spirit. The hat has a hollow core with a tiny metal basket which holds tiny wild cherry or oak chips. (or other types of wood chips) The chips are ignited with a small torch then when the lid is placed on the basket the smoke is forced down into the glass. :)

That one was sold to a dealer, the green one was sold to an individual prior to posting. I thought I was ok since I was not personally trying to sell them myself at the time of posting. I'll hold of posting any unless they are ones I'm keeping and not for sale.

Gotcha. Looking back at the pic now the smoke is obvious, and I’ve seen/heard about that sort of thing. Never tried it myself.

There’s a place around here where we’ve had dinner a few times that has a smoked old fashioned. It’s garnished with a waffle and an a slice of bacon and is served under a large glass dome filled with smoke. It’s a bit over the top. 🤣

It was pretty traumatic Barrett!

Yeah, a lot of zooming and cropping going on there! :D Shotgun shells (and shotguns) are a lot more restricted than in the past. I suspect that the local constabulary may be familiar with that nutter brave warrior

Yes, it would be nice to see them do something different

LOL! :D The only time I ever worked nights was in a brewery! :D There was maybe a couple of hours work to do out of an 8 hour shift, the rest of the time we drank or slept! Some nights I would clock-in, and then just go to a nightclub, as the brewery was right in the centre of Sheffield! 🤣 Just before I started there, there had been a minor scandal, when some senior management from London were touring the labyrinthine brewery, and came across a bunch of made-up beds in the loft above the brewhouse! 🤣🤣

This'll all new to me, interesting

That sounds fine my friend, just wanted to make sure you were aware

Great to see Mitch, looks like you've been busy :)

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone has some time off this weekend :) I have a few things I need to take care of in the house, but I should be able to get out at some point, possibly meet up with Wolfie. Have a good one Guardians
