Glad you got the TV's sorted. laying to get rid of them is no good. I'm cheap the council area we had free kerb side pick up twice a year for free, so I'd wait.
It probably wouldβve been easier if Iβd had Julie help me carry the bigger one (65β) up from the basement before she left that morning, but I managed. The backlight went out on that one a few months ago, and we replaced it then, I just hadnβt gotten around to getting rid of it. The other TV was in our bedroom, and although it smaller than the one from the basement, I think it weighed more.
Weβd had that one since we got married, about 15 years, which I think, sadly, is a pretty long life for a TV these days. That one started turning itself off after 30 seconds. The new one I bought this weekend to replace it feels like it weighs nothing in comparison, cost way less than we paid for that one back then, and the picture quality is 10x better.
The other fun thing about getting rid of TVs is that you have to pay someone to take βem off your hands. I was looking up where to take them beforehand, and the county-run recycling center we usually go to (because itβs closest) charged $20 per TV, a couple other places charge $30 each, and one place charged $1 per inch of screen size.I ended up driving a little farther to a different countyβs recycling center that only charged $10 per, because Iβm cheap.
Thanks, Steve!
Itβs pretty good, Jeff. Theyβve done three 11 year Offerman Edition Lagavulins: a standard one, one finished in Guinness casks (which is the one I had last night), and one finished in charred oak barrels. I have a bottle of each, but Iβve only tried the first two. Havenβt cracked open the charred oak on yet.
Glad you made it, Jack, and what a view! Thanks for reminding me that I need to pick up a couple bottles of cava this week. The girls (that is, Julie and my sister-in-law, not Eleanor and Scout
) always want mimosas on Christmas morning, for which we usually use cava rather than champagne. (Not sure I could tell you why, none of us are experts when it comes to sparkling wine. Weβve just sort of found what we like and stuck with it, I guess.)
I forgot that I took this pic while I was out shopping on Saturday. I stopped in a shop that carries some international snacks, candy, beverages, etc. (Itβs the place I used to be able to find dandelion and burdock.) Jack, I thought youβd get a kick out of the price of a can of Heinz Beans. Thatβs a bit more than I remember seeing them sold for in England.

Wait a minute here ....
When you folks put beans on toast it's just plain old beans in tomato sauce? Oh my....
I'm not opposed to slapping a spoon full of beans on some toast.... I love beans... But you need some flavor!!!!

We've had a few 35+ days In the past week.94 is bloody hot for our part of the world!
It's warm enough here in Vic for the snakes to get out and about. Just got back from the mother inlaws, had a brown snake in the kitchen. Wasn't allowed to use the shovel in case I cracked a tile. That was fun...

I never watch TV, but do watch DVDs. Mine originally belonged to Wolfie's mother-in-law. She handed it down to him and his missus, and I got it about 15 years ago!It probably wouldβve been easier if Iβd had Julie help me carry the bigger one (65β) up from the basement before she left that morning, but I managed. The backlight went out on that one a few months ago, and we replaced it then, I just hadnβt gotten around to getting rid of it. The campaign was quite widely referenced here Mitch, even though the adverts were different

I think most folks here think Heinz beans are American!First time I've ever seen (or even heard of) those Brit beans. Did you buy a can to try?
Steve, you are acquiring some nice old classic models.
Jack, I don't see any snow in your pictures???
