Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Here's a few photos from my first day in Lanzarote, an island which I think has a really interesting history. My hotel was situated in a very attractive and peaceful position, about an hour or so's walk from Playa Blanca, the nearest town, and the very last hotel, before the Papagayo beaches.

The hotel had a beautiful interior, and I got the quiet room I asked for, with perfect views over to the island of Fuerteventura, which I had visited last Christmas

What wonderful place for your holiday Jack!
Great-looking Lamb David, I hope you don't get too much of the white stuff :)
Thanks buddy!

We’ve had a very mild winter so far. There’s no snow on the ground and not a lot of ice on the lakes so far. Earlier today I drove by the part of Lake Minnetonka where the race is held, and a good part of it is still open water. I think they had to make a decision far enough ahead of time to give everyone involved a chance to adjust their plans (particularly the competitors, some of whom comefrom Canada and Alaska), and they had to do it based on the current conditions, rather than just crossing their fingers and hoping for enough cold and snow over the next few weeks.
Thanks for the explanation Barrett. It never entered my mind that warm weather was the deciding factor. That's a real shame.

Hope everyone is having a good start to the weekend  just wanted to share this Lambsfoot.
If there was ever any question about it, this is the smartest Lambsfoot in these parts!View attachment 2445955View attachment 2445956View attachment 2445957
Wonderful old one Rob!
Morning Guardians! It's snowing here. Have several inches on the ground already.

It's snowing here too David. I counted 465 snowflakes accumulated so far. We are in a state of emergency. Schools closed, interstate gridlock, impending blackouts... It's apocalyptic... 😁

It is amazing and two are on the way Barrett.
I see you found a place that includes a beautiful lamb with each purchase!!!! 🤔

Yeah, free Lambsfoot with purchase… but their markup on the Henderson’s is insane!! 😲😉😁

I was once over in Sheffield, and had to call in at the post office. My daughter warned me about the semi-subterranean place we went to. Boy, was it rough! It was full of drunks and junkies, with drug-dealing taking place, and fights breaking out. They had several security guards, who seemed to be staying out of the way, and when you got to the counter, it had ceiling-high armoured glass, and staff with a lousy attitude!

Based on that description, can you really blame ‘em? 🤣

Great pics, Jack! Looks like a nice place, and that balcony and view are fantastic! 😎

Yep, it’s unfortunate. Our neighbors, who are both veterinarians, help organize the event, but I haven’t spoken to either of them since we heard about it being cancelled.

To be a guardian is not for the weak and faint of heart. It's a brutal existence of dedication and discipline. For example... photographing the elusive lambsfoot in the middle of a blizzard...

Love the pics, Dwight! Maybe they can have the sled dog race in Arkansas! 🤣

As promised the other day, I’ve still got my Damascus Guardians Lambsfoot in my pocket.

So it is Steve! Nice choice :)

Terrible!

No, not at all, it was entirely understandable! The Post Office had moved from the beautiful purpose-built building to a grotty, former retail outlet, built in the 50's, and not decorated since, from the look of it. There were no window, it was much bigger than needed, and the place smelled! Horrible! 😦

Thanks mate, hoping to post some better ones later
