Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend. I enjoyed having lunch, and a few pints, with the lads yesterday. Between showers, we even managed to sit outside the pub for a bitMatt invited me to a local community festival that's on today. We went last year, and had a good time, but it seems much longer than a year ago. There's beer there, and food, and stuff for the kids, so if the rain holds off, it should be fun. We pass one of our slingshot spots on the way, so hopefully get some plinking in
We won't be going until after lunch, so I'll be finding a few jobs to do before then. Toting my 2018 Guardians Lambsfoot, in ebony

Good morning Guardians. A bit hot and humid this morning so I got my morning walk in early. Sun is getting higher in the sky and so is the temperature. A few photos of the back yard and the canal. Grass looks pretty good for us being on water restrictions. Can't irrigate much. I'll be carrying my trusty HHB (my favorite knife).

I know what you mean Bill, I have to pace myself these days tooThanks Jack. The house parties aren't the main issue - it's all the booze. Most of our friends know I like my Scotch so they have some very good stuff around. I know that moderation is the key but...

No rain was forecast for this afternoon, so when I headed out to meet Matt, and his family, I just slipped a really lightweight windproof/showerproof top into the pocket of my hoodie. However, we were only halfway there, when the heavens opened, and I suggested we call into the brewery we were approaching, until the rain had stopped. Matt, the only one of us, who was wearing a proper waterproof coat, reasoned that it would stop soon, so we continued onto the festival. The festival is a very low-key event, and you even have to bring your own seating. I guess when they tabled it in July, they figured folks could lounge around in the blazing sunshine, on the grassTrees provided virtually the only shelter, and since it was absolutely throwing it down, the trees weren't a lot of help. The kids, even without coats, were enjoying themselves of course, while the adults huddled in miserable groups, trying to keep the rain out of their beer. If I'd been on my own, I would have certainly gone home
Two hours later, it finally stopped raining, and we stood in the mud, listening to a large local choir, while the kids discovered a bubble machine.
I went and got another round of drinks from the small bar.

Almost as soon as I'd done so, it started raining even heavier than before. I could feel the rain seeping through my windproof. The kids had found a van to sit in. Me and Matt, and his missus, Ruth, stood under a tree, but it was making little if any difference. Ruth looked thoroughly miserable. I suggested making a break for the pub when the rain next slowed down. Matt went to consult the kids, and returned with the news they wanted to stayAfter finishing my pint, I decided to make a break for it, but it was about a mile to the brewery, and I got drenched. I would have preferred somewhere warm and cosy, with an open fire
At least they had some food, and beer of course
