No rain was forecast for this afternoon, so when I headed out to meet Matt, and his family, I just slipped a really lightweight windproof/showerproof top into the pocket of my hoodie. However, we were only halfway there, when the heavens opened, and I suggested we call into the brewery we were approaching, until the rain had stopped. Matt, the only one of us, who was wearing a proper waterproof coat, reasoned that it would stop soon, so we continued onto the festival. The festival is a very low-key event, and you even have to bring your own seating. I guess when they tabled it in July, they figured folks could lounge around in the blazing sunshine, on the grassTrees provided virtually the only shelter, and since it was absolutely throwing it down, the trees weren't a lot of help. The kids, even without coats, were enjoying themselves of course, while the adults huddled in miserable groups, trying to keep the rain out of their beer. If I'd been on my own, I would have certainly gone home
Two hours later, it finally stopped raining, and we stood in the mud, listening to a large local choir, while the kids discovered a bubble machine.
I went and got another round of drinks from the small bar.

Almost as soon as I'd done so, it started raining even heavier than before. I could feel the rain seeping through my windproof. The kids had found a van to sit in. Me and Matt, and his missus, Ruth, stood under a tree, but it was making little if any difference. Ruth looked thoroughly miserable. I suggested making a break for the pub when the rain next slowed down. Matt went to consult the kids, and returned with the news they wanted to stayAfter finishing my pint, I decided to make a break for it, but it was about a mile to the brewery, and I got drenched. I would have preferred somewhere warm and cosy, with an open fire
At least they had some food, and beer of course

Thanks buddy, there isn't much difference between a weather forecast, and a politician's promise, over here!Well, life gave you lemons and you tried to make lemonade Jack.
Sorry to hear your outing was ruined.
Thanks David, these things happen, but I've always thought that the sensible thing is to find shelter, rather than stand there getting soaked, like a bunch of fools!Sorry your got rained on.
I saw one little girl, absolutely drenched to the skin, as they all were, repeatedly stamping in puddles to soak everyone around her. Matt's missus explained that her parents were frightened even to tell her to button her coat up, because she goes crazySo you're not old enough to get compassion from them. That's nice.

Looking good Mitch
Yeah, no doubt mate!Of course, if you’d have packed your rain gear, it probably would’ve been warm and sunny.Sorry you got soaked, but hopefully you had an ok time anyways. Hey, you did make it to the 2023 Brewery of the Year!

Those breaks are precious!Forgot to post these pics yesterday. Julie and I had a couple kid-free hours to go for an early dinner and a couple drinks. The place we went had a happy hour deal on pints from a local brewery, Summit, so I had their oatmeal stout and their EPA (Extra Pale Ale). I know I’ve had the EPA before, and thought I remembered enjoying it, but it was very hoppy, and I don’t think I’ll be in a hurry to have it again.

Some truths are universal! So things are then very similar in our countries Jack.
.. a reminder to carry mine soon.
Brilliant Mitch! Thanks Jack, sounds you still had a good time.
Most the independent breweries are basically forced out of business by bureaucracy and government beer taxed.
Politicians and weatherman cloned throughout the world!
This 1 is for everyone but Dwight is going to love it
