Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good morning Guardians, and congratulations to all of you, hard to believe that post count eh?! This has been a wonderful journey, and I'm grateful to each and every one of you, who has kept this thread going, way beyond my wildest expectations. What a great pattern the Lambsfoot is, and as someone observed, many years ago now, 'Come for the knife, stay for the company'! :) I'll announce the first giveaway shortly, this one is just for the Guardians, and then I'll post a separate thread, with a giveaway open to everyone  And of course, it's Friday! :) The sun is even shining here! :D I hope you have a great day Guardians, and thank you, once again, for making this thread the great place it is :)

Again thank you for creating and continuing a great platform to celebrate a great pattern.

It’s Friday evening here, kids going through the shower and readying for bed. Early night for me and tomorrow I’ve been roped into playing my second game of football in 6 years. Tomorrow afternoons post may be from a hospital room yet!

Guardians 100,000 Posts Giveaway

Congratulations, once again, dear friends, 10,000 posts! 🎉🎉🎉

When I realised, six months ago, that we had 2 milestones approaching, I ordered a couple of Lambsfoot knives online, and put them on one side. Then, forgetting why I'd bought them, I gave them away! :D Unfortunately, I then struggled to replace them, as there is such a rush on Lambsfoot knives, but I saw that a small UK outfit, called 'Twisted Assisted', had done another run. You can probably spot the provenance, but they have the Twisted Assisted tang-stamp, as well as some unusual Burlap Micarta covers. I struggled with the first knife I had from them, but this run is much better. So, if you'd like the knife, please enter this giveaway :) I dare say, I'll chuck in a few other goodies ;)

Inspired by unclekurty unclekurty yesterday, please post a pic of your first Lambsfoot knife, and if you want, you can tell us a little about it, your first impressions of the pattern, and how you came to take to it. Please make it clear you're entering the giveaway. You can enter for someone else if you want, but only if they have already entered themselves (had cases before, where the nominated member doesn't actually want the knife). It's open to all Guardians, that's anyone who has posted a photo of a Lambsfoot knife in this thread (it must still be in place), and if you've made more than 2 posts this year, I'll throw your name in the hat a second time

Jeremy sbh06 sbh06 has very kindly offered to make one of his pocket slips for the knife :)

I'll draw it in around a week

Good luck everyone, and thanks once again for making this thread the best on BF :)

Hope you sleep well buddy, it sounds like you might need your energy tomorrow! Be careful out there! :)

I'll get the ball rolling then. These are the 2 i have left from my original collection. As a lot of us have, i lost my first Lambsfoot. As i have previously stated my interest in the pattern was spiked nearly 60 years ago at the stock sale yards of the Western District in Victoria.

My first lambsfoot was TEW, given in GAW by Jack, it's a good 1.😎
You'll have to pick one of them Mitch

Folks - If you wish to nominate another member, please wait until after they've entered themselves, before doing so!

Very nice start Leon, two of my favorite patterns.👌

I’ll go the whole hog with my short history.

Now time being relative, I’m only 33 but I’ve been around lambs on and off my whole life which seems like a long time to me. I’ve mentioned before on this thread that one of my fond memories as a kid on our small family farm was sitting in dads Ute as he’d take the lambsfoot out of the ashtray where it lived and cut off a slice of venison salami from a deer he’d shot and pass it around to my brother and I.
I got a fixed blade in my mid teens and between that, discovering girls etc. gradually found other priorities.
Few years later I developed an affinity for things of old. As an example I’m a mad keen hunter but prefer the history and challenge of flintlock muzzleloaders so choose them as my weapon. I also lost interest in modern folders/fixed blades and eventually made it around to this forum and quickly came across the guardians thread. The nostalgia of my young(er) years came back and I soon bought my own first lamb.
I hadn’t had it too long when I was out at the old mans and I showed him. Obviously the nostalgia ran deep, I could tell he was chuffed with it as he’d long misplaced his and said he’d kept an eye out for one at second hand shops and whatnot for years but never seen one. My father is not tech savvy and searching the web let along buying something there is far beyond him.
It was his birthday not long after so I decided to gift it to him. So after a short time back in the lamb world I was again lambless.

But thanks to the generosity of this forum not for long. I mentioned this story and very soon had three or four members of the group offer to send one out to me. I accepted the first person gratefully and thanked but declined the rest. The lamb sf fanatic sf fanatic gifted me lives in the centre console of my Ute and comes with my every day.

I sure would love this knife but as a very small way toward repaying the kindness Dan has shown me I’d like to nominate him sf fanatic sf fanatic .

Good luck to all and cheers to another 100k posts 🍻

EDIT: I didn’t see the part where they have to enter first, I’ll nominate myself until he enters and then yield to him so I can keep the post up.

Love that Rodger’s, where in the western districts were you originally from? I’m from west Wimmera myself.

My first was from here, Ashley’s Choice sfo, it’s a great knife!!!

I’m in for the giveaway. I rocked the boat a little when I made this purchase, but Jack Black Jack Black was patient with me. Thought it was a little ugly when I first got it. After a bit figured I may as well try it out. Quickly it became one of my favourite folders ever! Thanks to Jack for being an enabler!!!!

What a milestone; congratulations!
I haven't been posting as regularly these days, but I still like to check out the goings-on of The Guardians, and read the Tool Stall Reports. ;)

Not an entry.

My first Lambsfoot was a gift from a member here, way back in '14. Thanks, Bernd, wherever you are.
