Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

^I'm the guy falling on his butt.

Merry Christmas, everyone.

I've walked on that pond, but I don't think I'd last two minutes ice-skating! :D I never did it as a kid (bit of a softie middle-class thing here), and when I was older, and took kids skating when I was a youth-worker, I was warned not to get on the ice with them! :D

Merry Christmas guardians. Have a safe and blessed day.

You too Dwight, and all our friends here :)

Cool pic Kevin, hope you're having a good one my friend :)

I've worked hard today, and not had much chance to take a pic, but here's a few I took along the way :) :)

Had far too much food and booze in I have to say  Hope everyone has had a fantastic time

Don't like the default sans serifs font, but usually to lazy to change it. Used Times New Roman (which is fine, but everyone uses it) for years at work, but now use Old Baskerville Face (I think that's what it's called). Vives les serifs!
I agree with you on serif fonts, Vince, and I was another of those who used Times throughout my career (since 1984 when the Macintosh arrived). But I never considered the possibility of changing fonts in my Porch posts, and only now realized that it can be done quite easily. But I'll bet that I won't expend the effort to do it!

LOL! :D I'm glad you like the look of it GT :)

I'm sure Barrett is OK now, he's a lot younger than me, and made of sturdier stuff :) You were discussed at length, and with great affection GT, like many others here :)
...
It's a far more realistic representation of the wood as it is in hand :) I just hope it's a representative sample :)

Your Man Jack has shone my friend :) I wonder what your Christmas Lambsfoot will be :)
Yes, if the 2019 Guardians lambsfoots can have handles similar to your sample, they'll be VERY appealing!!:cool::thumbsup:
Thanks for the report on the substance of some of the conversation Barrett and you had.:)
I also appreciate your encouraging words about the knives we all post here, Jack. :) This week's Lambsfoot for me, as determined by the alphabetical ordering of the names I've given mine, will be revealed a day late at the end of my post.

...
Christmas Eve! :) I'm carrying these two faithful companions with me today :)

Two faithful companions indeed my friend! ;) We hope you have a Merry Christmas and a happy and blessed holiday season Jack! :D

Merry Christmas to all!
Seems to be a lambsfoot choice theme for Christmas, with Jack & Ron both opting for elegant ebony and stunning stag, and FBC and Vince combining for another ebony/stag pair.:thumbsup::cool: Guess I'll join the crowd an post a similar pair, even though I'm not actually carrying them for Christmas. I can imagine the knives shouting an old 1960's slogan, but kind of missing the original meaning : I'm Black (says ebony lambsfoot) and I'm Proud (says stag lambsfoot); say it loud!!

Lovely weather here today, cold, but sunny :) I'm just getting things ready for my guests arriving later, but thought I'd take a break to have a cuppa and a piece of fruit-cake :)

8YtCsq5.jpg
Fruitcake seems to be the subject of many Christmas jokes in my "circles", Jack. My Mom always asked for a fruitcake for Christmas, even though (or perhaps BECAUSE) no one else in a family of 8 would touch it!

Thanks Gary
It is just a shot on a cloudy day with some photo editing done. Merry Christmas to ya!
Off to work I go!
Thanks for the info.:thumbsup: Photo editing is another bit of modern magic about which I know precious little.

I've enjoyed the posts of lambsfoot knives on old-fashioned Christmas cards!:thumbsup::cool: Thanks, David & FBC & Jack (at least).

My lambsfoot for this week is my rosewood Union Jack. I hope the Guardians of the Lambsfoot have all had an enjoyable Yuletide! :)

Cool pic David, I love the work of cutler-turned-artist George Cunningham, and I very much recommend his two-part autobiography too. A relative of his once posted here

There's been some heavy petitioning over the years ;) :D

Merry Christmas Rob :)

Good to see you here Joe, I'll get that pic updated later  Hope the New Year is easier at work

MERRY CHRISTMAS GUARDIANS, have a good day everyone  I thought I'd post my Christmas Day knives on another of George Cunningham's pics. I grew up near the (frozen) pond shown here, which was originally the dam (or mill pond) of a cutler's wheel, and is included in Part 2 of my 'The Dairy-Maids of Porter Brook' thread series

Aye I've always liked Cunningham's drawings; there really lively, and that's a great one you have there, but unfortunately his biography is now out of print. :( I should of bought it when I had the chance
Thanks for the link though that lloks really interesting; I'll settle down and read that tomorrow. I can say as well that my mum's stepfather, a chap called Sidney Turner, was George Cunningham's first cousin. My mum met George and his family a number of times over the years, and remembers them as being a really nice family. Also Sidney and George were very similar and could of been brothers instead of cousins. When I first saw a picture of George I thought I was looking at my grandad

One of a few today.

Hoping everyone has had, and is still having a wonderful Christmas!! :)

Merry Christmas, Guardians! I hope you all are enjoying the holiday in whatever manner you choose to celebrate.

I started my day with coffee and a dram. This Oregon Single Malt was a gift and is rather delightful. This, accompanied by copious amounts of mulled wine, has me filled with all sorts of cheer.

The Lambsfoot is a pretty prefect holiday companion, it has seen lots of use today.

Sitting here, sipping an amazing beer. Thinking about all of the amazing things that have occurred this year. Also all the trials that have occured as well and how I have grown. Just kicking back, counting my blessings. Merry Christmas to all of you and your families.

Coffee and a dram is how I started Christmas Day Dylan :) That looks like a very interesting whisky. Excellent pic, and it's nice to see the pile side of your AC :)

Love that pic Joe :)

Morning Guardians, I hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday. I had a really nice time, but worked hard, and I am looking forward to having a rest today! :) Carrying my ebony '18 today

Got a heck of a lot of food needs eating, and a lot of booze needs supping if anyone is passing by ;) Have a great day Guardians

View attachment 1043418 I seem to have a large amount of sweet treats, which for a diabetic is not good.Must show great restraint :(.Hope everyone had a great holiday.

I'm similarly stocked to the gunnels my friend - which is not good for a fat bloke trying to lose weight! ;) Hope you had a good one yourself, and that you can find some tasty snacks which won't upset your sugar levels

Merry Christmas Guardians.

Jack Black Jack Black

There’s been A LOT of overtime at work and I’ve missed some stuff. But i wanted to say:

The 2019 sample looks AMAZING! I can’t wait to get one.

My Ashley’s Choice is the one on the far left. Travmans is touching it. Leslie’s is almost touching it too.

Hope everyone has a great Christmas if they celebrate it or a great day off if they don’t.

Joe

Here we go Joe, thanks for identifying your knife :)
