Strange year indeed Mike . You get snow in Mo. and we live in Southern Wi. and we got none . My wife and I spent Christmas alone due to both having Covid . We normally would have had 20 plus here . She still has the coughing , but not nearly as bad as you do . Get well my friend and stay safe down there . Oh yes , Beautiful knife .Got some snow on top of the ice and sleet last night.
Back in November I was diagnosed with pneumonia. After three rounds of antibiotics I was lot better, but not cured. The folks at the clinic said they didn't want to give me any more antibiotics and referred me to a pulmonologist, who can't see me until 2/27/25Although I'm not coughing to much as long as I don't exert myself, I'm short of breath and minimal exertion sets me to coughing. I've coughed enough over the last couple of months that I have an intercostal muscle (muscle around the ribs) strain on my left side so when I cough its..unpleasent. I've been trying to minimize the coughing so the muscle will heal. Walking out to mailbox and taking knife picks in 14F air set me off this morning. The snow is lot heavier and stiffer than it looks, probably due to all the sleet mixed in. Given my current infirmity shoveling is out of the question. Normally in Missouri snow melts in a couple of days, but we're not supposed to get above freezing until Friday. I started the vehicles and let them run while I was out, but I don't plan on going farther than the mailbox for immediate future
Appreciate letting me whine
Snow lamb!

Thanks buddy, it wasSounds like a productive day, Jack! Pho looks yummy -- might watch that GL-24 lurking in the background as he might try to eat some.
I did notice on your Corn Exchange coffee it says "Decent".![]()
I wonder JerThe decorations are pretty, though.
How can such a coffee shop survive? Or, how much are people willing to put up with?
A good motto"'Adopt, adapt, and improve'. The motto of the Coldstream Guards."
I had a 6pm online meeting cancelled yesterday, then reinstated at 8.30pm - I was halfway through a bottle of wine by then! It's my day off, except for Praise Team rehearsal at 8 pm, which feels like midnight, but the days are getting longer.
I was going to get some groceries, but there's nothing I need enough to drive in the snow when I don't have to. It isn't much new snow, but anything on my list can wait till tomorrow, when I have to be out anyway.
I'll walk to Praise Team and try out my new yellow vest and heavy duty extra large yaxtrax.

With what i have been hearing and reading not long. If the coffee bean prices reach what they are predicting this year because of a world shortage a lot of these coffee shops will go out of business. Over here every second shop and new business is now some sort of cafe, or coffee shop, just far too many for them all to survive and people will not be willing to pay the predicted prices if the pundits are correct. How can such a coffee shop survive? Or, how much are people willing to put up with?
Ride that beauty hard and put em away wet.Afternoon Guardians! Lotta nice Lambs out today. Sawman is riding for the brand to today

I don't know about out in the countryside, but in the city, the snow is no longer sitting prettily on the ground. It's mainly turned to ice, and with temperatures in the teens, it's not going anywhere, for now. The pavements and side-roads are treacherous, with a ream of black ice on the roads, and lumpy frozen snow on the pavements. I picked my way carefully, like I was barefoot on Brighton beach, but made it to the bus-stop in one piece. I managed to buy some sourdough, and had a chat with young Zoe, the girl who works on the market bread-stall. She was sat hunched over the fan-heater I gave them to keep warm. I waved to the fellers in the empty barber's shop, and was surprised to find that the next shop on my list was closed, as they had decided to move to the premises next door. I went for coffee in the Corn Exchange, which I really must remember to stop doing. The coffee is OK, when you eventually get it, but it's expensive, and the staff are downright lazy (too lazy to take down the Christmas tree too). As has happened before, they told me they were only serving coffee in takeaway cups, and the skinny £4 slice of stale cake came on a paper bag, instead of a plate. Ten minutes after ordering, I had to go back to the counter to get my coffee, and after paying the bill, I noticed they had added a service charge

I thought this might bring back some memories for our younger members. Not me, I dropped out after Pong!

I had various errands to carry out, and small bits of shopping to pick up. Since I eventually made my way to the top end of town, I thought I might call in the same chippy that Greedy Guts was at, in the video I posted the other day. However, they only had one table inside, and it was occupied. Instead I went for some Vietnamese Pho at one of my regular eating spots

On the way back home, I called in at Charlie's, for another coffee, made an appointment at the docs, and picked up my prescription from the pharmacy (something which is getting so big, I'm struggling to carry it!). Glad to be back home, and I think I see a nap in my near futureHope you're having a good day Guardians

I remember when coffee was nickle a cup. Then it went to a dime and those old farmers howled like a pig caught under the fence.Very interesting Leon, the bubble has got to burst at some point for sureI was over in Manchester the other week. We were looking for a coffee shop or cafe, and couldn't find one, but then spotted this trendy-looking bar, and figured we'd be able to get a coffee there. During the day, at least, it was more of a coffee shop than a bar, but the coffee was only £1, which after being ripped-off for decades, made us suspicious. The machine looked OK, and my colleague came right out with it, and asked our server why the coffee was so cheap. She told us that was all they needed to charge, and they made a decent profit on it at £1
