Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I've always loved straight edge blades sheepsfoot, wharncliffe but the lambsfoot is really the best of these IMO and here's why I think so.
The sheepsfoot has an essentially blunt point and is excellent as a slicer which is what it was designed for but lacks the ability of a piercing.
The wharncliffe another Sheffield design is good at slicing and piercing but the shape of the blade lends itself to accidental piercing due to the extreme taper of the blade.
The lambsfoot is both a great cutter but the taper allows for very controlled piercing. I have spent the last two days playing with these three blade types and this is my opinion.
Exactly! But I think it not only works better, it LOOKS better. To me, anyway. ;)

After waiting for what seemed like ten weeks, instead of ten days, my first Lambsfoot arrived in today's mail! I have this first impression to give and it is that this really feels good in hand, Rosewood is nicely polished and the metal is shiny...a good looking knife. The blade is not well centered but it's a working knife so not a big deal.

I have been in touch with Jack and am on the list for the 2019 Guardian knife, but, this makes it my official application for membership in the Guardians of the Lambsfoot. You are a great group! Preston

Since no BF supporting dealer carries the pattern, to answer this would be in violation of the forum rules, and a potential infraction. Please let's keep commercial discussion out of this thread. Questions like this are best asked by PM

Another silent serenade of serenity and tranquility.

Pàdruig Pàdruig - fine taste in Whiskey brother. Finished mine this past weekend - not easy to come by without a road trip :( and you already know I admire your lambsfoot. Enjoy!

Ray

Nice composition Dylan :)

Thank you, fellas.

It's time for Haggis Bashed Neeps, Tatties, and Whisky!! :D

Excellent! I celebrated ol' Rabbie's Birthday last weekend. My good friend gave the Address to a Haggis, as he does every year and does a fine job. He also makes the absolute best haggis, perfecting his recipe over a number of years. I took a bunch home with me and had it for breakfast the following morning. Hard to beat haggis and eggs...

This wee one was with me today, paired with a fine cigar and a drop of McCarthy's.

Thank you, Dave. Enjoy the celebration (if you haven't already)!

Great picture. Everything is glowing. :)

Thank you, r8shell! It certainly was the hopeful effect, there was just enough sunlight left.

Yes please, Colorado, 30 miles southeast of Denver
Welcome to the Guardians Preston :) That's a nice-looking Lambsfoot, polished blades aren't standard on the Rosewood models :) Shame about the off-centre blade, not a deal-breaker for me on an inexpensive production knife, but I wouldn't send a knife out like that
Thanks, and thanks for all you do Jack, I'll use it and learn about the Lambsfoot so when the 2019 Guardian's Knife arrives I'll be better able to use it.
Took the Lambsfoot into the field today, hunting, pheasant and duck. Used the Lambsfoot to slice some cheese. No pheasant but was able to harvest a duck.

No Lambsfoot was harmed during the taking of this duck...to be used after it is prepared for the table...photos of that to follow. Preston

Both added!

And both notable, location-wise: D Dschal , you're currently the easternmost Guardian in North America, and pjsjr pjsjr , you've given us a pin in the middle of what was a pretty sizable gap on the western half of the US.

Thank you Barrett for doing that!

Thank you all for the warm welcomes to the Guardian's...I know I don't have the patience to quote and thank each individually in posts, sorry. Preston

Thanks, Jack. Hope your doctor's appointment goes well.

Have a quackin' good Friday, Guardians!

Morning Guardians :) I usually go out for a hike of a Saturday, but for various reasons, have had to change plans this weekend (I'm going out tomorrow instead). Still got plenty to do though, and I thought I'd have a Double Lambsfoot Day ;) Have a great weekend folks
