Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Wow David, what an accomplishment
Thanks buddy 👍 I didn't reach the summit of the Colorado HP Mount Elbert. I made it to 14,200+ and was so altitude sick I turned back. I remember sitting in the scree on the side of the mountain starring at my map and couldn't process what I was looking at. I was so disoriented I couldn't read my map or GPS. The storm clouds were rolling in. So I made the decision to turn back and get to lower elevation for better oxygen. About the tree line I started getting better. But I was really not good for a while. That was 19 years ago. I hadn't given myself time to acclimate to the altitude as it had never effected me before. But that time it did. Learned a big lesson that day. 🤠
Thanks pal, I was about 25 then! :D Scafell Pike gets the attention, but I always tell people they'd be better climbing one the more interesting and quieter slightly lower peaks nearby :) I used to love to climb the hills and mountains of England, Wales, and Scotland, but they're a bit of a struggle for me now! 😪
I understand buddy. We're not as young as we once we're. 🤠
Jack Black Jack Black Excuse my absence mate, but just had so much on, and will spend some time today catching up on the Guardians thread. It is 7.30 Saturday morning here and bleak and miserable. Blew a gale during the night but no damage done. Just had a fry up for brekkie, burgers, eggs and onions. 😋😋😋😋. Have a good weekend everyone. 🥰🤠.

Good to see you buddy. Good breakfast to get started on.
echoscout echoscout That is super cool. Jack, I have hiked to the top of Mt. Snowden! Amazing hike with my daughters on a trip to WalesView attachment 2962936View attachment 2962937 when they were wee girls. We stayed in an incredible rental cottage not too far from Llanberis that the tots called “the gnome house.”
Thanks buddy 👍 Mt Snowden looks like an amazing place to hike!
Thanks for all the well wishes! If everything goes according to plan, I will be snapping a few pics from 12,662 feet tomorrow in the mid-day. Probably won’t be able to report in until later on though.

We did make a quick stop at the trailhead on our drive just to check things out before going on to our motel. I’m very excited.

Thanks for the pics buddy 👍

Sounds like a nice break ! Glad yer pup is okay 👍

Hope Lacey stays well mate.
Enjoy the recharge 👍👍

I'm really glad Lacy is ok 😀

Thanks, friends. Lacey's doing well (but tired after a big day today):

And her little brother Whiskey hasn't had any (recent) health scares, but he has had a lot of fun on vacation, and would like everyone to know that he took his job herding breakers (or at least sprinting the length of the breakers barking and snapping at the foam) very seriously. He's also pretty worn out now:

And to keep somewhat on topic, the GL-24 isn't tired at all; it's ready to go to work at any time:

Lovely dogs!

Congratulations, Bob!
It's great to see you here Cosimo, I hope you’re keeping well. I have some small hammers I thought you might like, with a story behind them 🙂 Let me know 👍

2024 Guardians Lambsfoot 6-8.JPG

Well, after three or four crazy busy months, during our last week before vacation, our dog Lacey had a bad medication reaction. This involved four vet visits (including two where we were afraid we'd have to put her down). Once they figured it out she recovered quite rapidly, but that touch and go week was pretty terrible. If we didn't already need a vacation before that week (and we did!) we sure did after it.

We spent one night in Sonoma, 12 days (leaving this morning) in Dillon Beach, and now we'll spend a couple of nights in Winters before heading back to real life.

We've had some long beach hikes, hikes inland a bit through valley oaks, hikes through redwoods, hanging out at wineries (maybe a couple more wineries in the next two days, too). It's been good. We didn't really get vacation in 2024, and I don't think we've ever done two weeks in a row.

It's been good.

Here's the view off of our back balcony.

I'm very sorry to hear about the troubles you've had Tyson, but glad Lacey has recovered, and that you've been able to get away and relax :) Great shot of your GL-24
Great to hear your dog is okay. We had to put ours down about a month ago. She was a great old girl. Still hurts.
That's very sad Brian, my condolences :(

Wonderful stump pic Steve :)

Great to see you here Leon, and it's nice to see you're eating well my friend! 😋 Hopefully Spring is not too far away for you :)

Fantastic Dave, and what lovely photos :) I think your girls would have liked the tiny cottage I stayed in on the Llyn Peninsula once, I've been in bigger sheds! :D In the photo I posted, my eldest daughter was 21 months old. Her mum had her in the baby-carrier at that point, but I carried her down in the rucsac, which was quite funny :D I have only been up Snowden once, (I've been up Ben Nevis a number of times), and am definitely overdue a trip to Wales my friend :) I hope you have happy memories of your trip

Wow, I think you made a wise decision Dave  Of course we don't have to worry about altitude here, the highest peak in Yorkshire is only 2,415ft! :D It is one of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, which are often tackled together :)
Evening Guardians! Had to make a pharmacy run today. Been sitting out back chawin the fat with my old friend Jerry. We been friends since jr high. We're as different as night and day. Why we're friends I have no idea. But we are. Happy trails 🤠

That's funny about you and Jerry buddy :D I can relate! :D ;) Nice shot of your May Lamb
The Barrett
Looking good Mitch :)
One of life's mysteries, who we gravitate to and form friendships. I buried a dear friend last Tuesday, and they are never replaced.
Very sorry to hear that Leon, one of the sad things about getting older unfortunately :(
It is! Natural slate everywhere. Quite an incredible history in that region of Wales they call Snowdonia. https://snowdoniaslatetrail.org/
The whole area is outstanding  I have a lot of old climbing friends who live there Dave, though most I haven't seen for years

Good morning Guardians, it seems like everyone here is doing well :) I hope you all have a great weekend :) I'm meeting some friends in town later, and then going over to Bradford to catch up with someone I've not seen in a while. Think we're going to get a bite to eat :) I'm carrying Wee Staggy :)

Yes mate, and a reality check. Over 25 years ago 5 of us started what we called the Monday Arvo Club, we used to meet at the pub every Monday afternoon and just had a good time. They were funny knock about blokes and raconteur's and we had a million laughs and never discussed politics. Everyone found out about our little club and used to call in knowing that they were always welcome and would get a laugh. I am now the only one left, after we buried Peter last Tuesday. Makes you realize that we are not here for ever. 🍻
