Good call.Well sad news, we were not able to summit. About 85% of the way up our mountain there is a bit of rock climbing know on the trail as “chicken out ridge”. Needless to say, we chickened out. It was just too technical for us, none of us expected to need rock climbing skills and we also packed WAY too much gear in our bags. Doesn’t help trying to climb up with a big heavy bag throwing off your balance.
We did still have a good time, and we climbed to the extent of our skill so we’re not too bummed. We turned around at 11,500 feet or so, so it was still a very good hike. Maybe we’ll practice our skills and try another day.m
Here’s where we decided it was just too far out of our skill set.

Like everyone else has said, - that was a good call. I fell on my back a long time - simply in a tournament- lower lumbar meets wooden floor, life changing as in 4 decades of real pain in the hip, thousands of dollars specialists etc. I'm looking at the heights and what your going to fall on in that photo and shudder, we aren't talking sprains there but life changing bone breakages or life ending falls, I am so glad you took a step back and made that difficult call.Well sad news, we were not able to summit. I'm very sorry to hear about your mates passing Leon, but glad you have happy memories of your times in the pubYes mate, and a reality check. Over 25 years ago 5 of us started what we called the Monday Arvo Club, we used to meet at the pub every Monday afternoon and just had a good time. They were funny knock about blokes and raconteur's and we had a million laughs and never discussed politics. Everyone found out about our little club and used to call in knowing that they were always welcome and would get a laugh. I am now the only one left, after we buried Peter last Tuesday. Makes you realize that we are not here for ever.![]()
Very industrious Mitch
Hopefully, I won't lose my glasses either Jer!With that glasses case, you'll never be lost!

I just chased one deer out of my front yard and four out of my back yard. They know I'm serious; they no longer pause to sniff the sticks I miss them with.
And here I was thinking the coyotes must still be around because I haven't seen any deer lately.
The deer have shown mercifully little interest in my fallen apples.
That's a lovely Lambsfoot Bob, very generous
Good morning all.
Time to celebrate a new family member.
Let the game begin.

Thanks David, when I first moved to Leeds, most of my hiking was there in the Yorkshire Dales, (which I was already familiar with). As I got to know the area where I live more, I realised I didn't have to travel quite so far for a nice hikeAfternoon Guardians! Jack the Yorkshire Three Peaks looks like an amazing place to hikeA couple days after the Mt Elbert experience I was at the Arizona HP Mt Humphrey which is 12,637. Didn't have any problems their. Made the summit just fine. The funny thing was as I was starting out this long legged dude came strolling by and soon left me behind. He must of had a 5' step. Anyway I was about two thirds of the way up when I meet this guy coming back down with that long stride. He nodded at me and smiled on his way by. I get a good laugh every time I think of it. Hope y'all have a good Labor Day weekend. Happy trails

I was in the cafe yesterday, and a sweet little tot, who looked far too young to talk, suddenly exclaimed, "Babyccino!"I'm looking forward to those times Charlie. Now, I am enjoying my granddaughter's sense of wonder.
Nicely said LeonThanks Lads, and as sad as it it i always try and look for a positive, and the positive is i feel privileged to have had so many good people in my life and that have allowed me into their lives.![]()

. Well done, that is how people get into trouble then others have to put their lives at risk to rescue them. People have a fantastic ability to over estimate their abilities. Never mix your ambitions with your abilities. Sounds like you had a fantastic adventure.

Terrible how easily life can change in a moment Duncan, sorry for all your suffering mateLike everyone else has said, - that was a good call. Well done Mitch, I hope you got to put your feet up with a cold one afterI realized I forgot to post my gardening pictures, the Barret is with my favorite garden hat. I'm tired all day job.
Trimmed the vines and redid the garden bed.
The garden is a bit sad. I laid the synthetic turf before as it was buddy's favorite bone chewing spot and saved him being dirt covered
