Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

and we climbed to the extent of our skill so we’re not too bummed.
  . Well done, that is how people get into trouble then others have to put their lives at risk to rescue them. People have a fantastic ability to over estimate their abilities. Never mix your ambitions with your abilities. Sounds like you had a fantastic adventure. 👍👍👍

Well sad news, we were not able to summit. About 85% of the way up our mountain there is a bit of rock climbing know on the trail as “chicken out ridge”. Needless to say, we chickened out. It was just too technical for us, none of us expected to need rock climbing skills and we also packed WAY too much gear in our bags. Doesn’t help trying to climb up with a big heavy bag throwing off your balance.

We did still have a good time, and we climbed to the extent of our skill so we’re not too bummed. We turned around at 11,500 feet or so, so it was still a very good hike. Maybe we’ll practice our skills and try another day.m

Here’s where we decided it was just too far out of our skill set.

Also, here’s a lambfoot pic to keep this post somewhat topical 😅

Like everyone else has said, - that was a good call. I fell on my back a long time - simply in a tournament- lower lumbar meets wooden floor, life changing as in 4 decades of real pain in the hip, thousands of dollars specialists etc. I'm looking at the heights and what your going to fall on in that photo and shudder, we aren't talking sprains there but life changing bone breakages or life ending falls, I am so glad you took a step back and made that difficult call.

I realized I forgot to post my gardening pictures, the Barret is with my favorite garden hat. I'm tired all day job.
Trimmed the vines and redid the garden bed.
The garden is a bit sad. I laid the synthetic turf before as it was buddy's favorite bone chewing spot and saved him being dirt covered 😁

Yes mate, and a reality check. Over 25 years ago 5 of us started what we called the Monday Arvo Club, we used to meet at the pub every Monday afternoon and just had a good time. They were funny knock about blokes and raconteur's and we had a million laughs and never discussed politics. Everyone found out about our little club and used to call in knowing that they were always welcome and would get a laugh. I am now the only one left, after we buried Peter last Tuesday. Makes you realize that we are not here for ever. 🍻
I'm very sorry to hear about your mates passing Leon, but glad you have happy memories of your times in the pub :)
This afternoon, some gardening

Very industrious Mitch :) Great pics
With that glasses case, you'll never be lost!

I just chased one deer out of my front yard and four out of my back yard. They know I'm serious; they no longer pause to sniff the sticks I miss them with.
And here I was thinking the coyotes must still be around because I haven't seen any deer lately.
The deer have shown mercifully little interest in my fallen apples.
Hopefully, I won't lose my glasses either Jer! :D Blimey, sounds like the wildlife are keeping you busy buddy! :D

Charlie’s lamb again with coffee. Hummingbirds are buzzing the yard on a wonderfully cool late August morning in south Mississippi. View attachment 2963309

Afternoon Guardians! Jack the Yorkshire Three Peaks looks like an amazing place to hike 👍 A couple days after the Mt Elbert experience I was at the Arizona HP Mt Humphrey which is 12,637. Didn't have any problems their. Made the summit just fine. The funny thing was as I was starting out this long legged dude came strolling by and soon left me behind. He must of had a 5' step. Anyway I was about two thirds of the way up when I meet this guy coming back down with that long stride. He nodded at me and smiled on his way by. I get a good laugh every time I think of it. Hope y'all have a good Labor Day weekend. Happy trails 🤠

Thanks David, when I first moved to Leeds, most of my hiking was there in the Yorkshire Dales, (which I was already familiar with). As I got to know the area where I live more, I realised I didn't have to travel quite so far for a nice hike :) That's a beautiful old Lambsfoot my friend :)
Bonus pic. Scratch creamed corn in the works for supper.

Sweet :)
We did!! My youngest, and his wife and two boys!! Wonderful grandson time!!

Glad you had a great time Charlie :)
I'm looking forward to those times Charlie. Now, I am enjoying my granddaughter's sense of wonder.
I was in the cafe yesterday, and a sweet little tot, who looked far too young to talk, suddenly exclaimed, "Babyccino!" :D👍
Thanks Lads, and as sad as it it i always try and look for a positive, and the positive is i feel privileged to have had so many good people in my life and that have allowed me into their lives. ❤️❤️❤️🍻👍
Nicely said Leon :)

Spectacular photos Hoff  I'm sorry you weren't able to summit, but it sounds like you made a wise decision, particularly as you'd presumably have to descend the same way! It must have been a great adventure anyway, and there's always another day my friend :)

Terrible how easily life can change in a moment Duncan, sorry for all your suffering mate :(

Well done Mitch, I hope you got to put your feet up with a cold one after :)

Good morning Guardians, yesterday turned out to be a long day, but a full one. I called in at Charlie's, for a second breakfast, and was joined by Matt. He was going over to Wakefield, to meet up with some old work colleagues, so we travelled into town together. I met up with some other friends for lunch, and then went over to Bradford, where I ended up meeting up with a number of other friends. Either side of dining, we had a few pints in a great pub there, and I tried a few of their beers, one of which was from Sheffield. The pub seemed to have a few characters, including a man wearing a top hat, which along with the rest of his clothing, was entirely covered in buttons/badges. Another character, was wearing a large meat pie round his neck, and celebrating the birthday of J.B. Priestley. As we were leaving, I complemented him on his pie, which I was not surprised to learn was fake. In an accent I thought was affected, he told me that the pastry was genuine, but he had cracked it after falling over. I suspect beer might have been involved! 😆

Hey, that's a cheering thought. Maybe my kingdom isn't too peaceable.
And maybe if I give her my apples she'll make her dwarves clean my house.

LOL! :D I could do with borrowing those dwarves myself Jer! :D Just doing housework and laundry, but I have a couple of sausage rolls in the oven ;)

Yep I did have a couple quiet 1s before dinner..
Have a great day.
Looks like you earned them Mitch :) There was nothing quiet about the boozing when I got back in Leeds yesterday, it wasn't even 9pm, and it was already carnage!

Good day Guardians !

I hope everyone has a peaceful Sunday 👍

Thanks Steve, not much happening round at Grumble Towers! :D ;) Great shot of your CJ Barlow buddy :)

Good morning, Guardians. Last Sunday in August is a fine one in south Mississippi. Jack, I forgot to post a finale pic of my deluxe cream corn (sweet onion, red and yellow peppers added for flavor and color accent) along with roasted eggplant and farm tomatoes with Ritz cracker crust.
