It's a day off, after ear and throat inspections at the hospital downtown. Maybe I'll attack my brush-clearing projects, or maybe I'll go to the range and clear my sinuses with some muzzle blasts.
[The store has a bonus coming for winning together in Q2. My share is $120. I just spent a third of it on 2000(?) water balloons and a 5" spear-point fixed blade that looks like some Chinese AI got it just right.]

Good morning, Guardians! Up early to pack the car for the drive back to Texas. Charlie’s with Oreo again. Sharing this as prelude to a quick wildlife encounter story…

Last night as we were getting ready for early bedtime at my mother in law’s house, we released the hounds for a final pee in the yard before lights out. I opened the back porch door and heard a cacophony as Callie the pup pushed through at 3x her normal velocity.

Callie encountered shop cat Oreo and a family of raccoons in a growling standoff at the leftover cat food. They scattered instantly, breaking a few tchotchkes in the process of scrambling.
Callie and Oreo tag-team chased the big mom (or dad) coon off into the night. Then I noticed these teen raccoons attempting to hide clinging to a high corner of Granny’s porch lattice work.

Needless to say it took a few minutes to get everyone calmed down and the dogs back inside for the evening. No coons were harmed in the incident. Never a dull moment in southern Mississippi!

I'm impressed that Oreo was holding off 3 coons. Note to self: don't mess with Mississippi shop cats

Racoons are cute but destructive. My mom just had a coon, cat food problem.
