How's the DIPA Jack?
Dennis, the wood in that photo is real, old and falling apart...but lots of character!
This is the petrified wood that I find around here, called by local as Kiowa Carmel, doesn't show the wood grain well.

I do like a Sophie Ryder. Whenever I have taken a class of children to the park they have always loved that sculpture. Though I have to admit given a choice I would go for Barbra Hepworth ever time - fine Yorkshire woman that she was.WayneWDJ said recently that he was intending to visit the Yorkshire Sculpture Park soon, I sure hope he hasn't bumped into the Easter Bunny!

Jack was that a "hazy" IPA?Pretty nice thanks Taylor, I find Thornbridge beers a bit 'obvious', if you know what I mean, but this is one I've not come across before, and actually not bad![]()
I'm just having another of these, figured drinking the beer would be easier than getting the knuckle tattoo![]()

Very interesting Preston, nice shot of your Lambsfoot too![]()
While I've known about this since the beginning of the year (and was even the legal witness to the deal - I just happened to be there when the papers needed signing), I now have permission to publicly share the news that A.Wright & Son of Sheffield have had a transfer of ownership. John Maleham has decided to go into semi-retirement, concentrating on his own small company J.M. Tools Ltd, and the good news is that the new owner of the firm is Michael Harrison, John’s old Work’s Manager (and Ashley’s dad). This has led to an extremely smooth transition, and should mean a bright future for the firm, and for Ashley and Michael. The first knives to be made after the change of ownership were our 2019 Guardians Lambsfoot knivesI'm sure you'll all join me in wishing Michael good luck at the helm of Arthur Wright's, and to Ashley and the other cutlers on a great future

Nice to see the new gaffer still isn't afraid to get his hands mucky!![]()

Also the best of luck to Keith, who worked for Joseph Rodgers & Sons, before coming to Wright's, upon his retirement![]()
I'll pass on the good wishes fellersI think they have even greater days ahead of them
I have written about their 'seconds' in the past, which were sold out of the factory door, or to dealers, and as a consequence, ended up back on the market. John M told me one bloke used to come to the factory every week to buy them. I've had seconds myself, which were OK, and I got them at a decent price, usually the problem was a crack in the stag or horn, but I don't think that they were good for the reputation of the company. I recently suggested to Michael that they mark the seconds in some way, so that they can't be passed off by unscrupulous traders. Michael told me they're no longer going to sell them, they'll either be scrapped or recovered. The bloke I mentioned above came to the door, and when Michael answered it, he asked if they had any seconds. Michael told him they don't make seconds!I think the Guardians knives have made a big impression at Wright's, and been a reminder of what excellence can be achieved. In my opinion, the quality of their general range has already improved over the past couple of years

Wonderful and way cool pic.I'm sure I was thinking of Jessica Lange (I'm not that old), and I don't think I'd heard of the Naomi Watts one. But there's no Godzilla that lines up very well with the Jessica Lange date.
I must have just filed the two failed monster robots together and forgotten about the dates.

Best wishes to the retirees. Yes it is fantastic news and comforting to know everything is in capable hands and on good footing. They certainly have my support and I'm drinking a toast to their success. They definitely have benefited greatly from your friendship and guidance Jack. Thanks guys. That's the pile side of the only "one" of these knives I bought. Totally different from the mark side, a feature I find very appealing although some disagree.
Received a wonderful surprise in the mail today, all the way from Leeds GB; two DI Damascus and an additional gifted rosewood lambs foot!!! Thanks so much Jack! I'm giddy with new lambs foots!!!

What a kind and thoughtful thing to do, Mark. Bless your heart. My Ironwood '19 helped me build a deck for a special needs neighbor today. It works great for marking wood for cutting.
That's it stuck in the top of the one post.

Thanks Dylan! I’m thankful to have this new addition!Ron, that is such an exquisite example. The Damascus pairs nicely with the Ironwood. What a wonderful addition to your collection!
Thanks, Dwight, that Lamb's stag is very nice, also. If you'd like a box of rocks(petrified wood), let me know and I'll gather some up for you.Wonderful and way cool pic.
Thanks Jack
Thanks Preston

Great contrast in the photo, Dylan. Hope those Hot Toddys fix you up and you feel better.Good evening, Guardians.
I am a bit under the weather and am fighting off a bit of a cold. However, the sun is out and I've managed to catch the last few rays of the day in the picture below. My Ebony posing with my favorite "cheap" whiskey. I might be making a hot toddy or two shortly.

I second the comment about a wonderful thing to do for your neighbor. Wish you were closer, Mark, I have a deck that needs to be replaced...I'd be a paying 'special needs' customer. Great portrait of your Lambsfoot. Thanks Dylan! I’m thankful to have this new addition!
A Good Friday morning to all you Guardians!
