Has Busse destroyed your interest in other fixed blades?

Their old HT is also very solid. I compared the new to the old and both held up equally in my test

Beyond that, there is a "newer" HT that can't be found on their models yet. It is only avilable through carothers knives for the time being until the 4.1 is released

I have a short list of Buck fixed blades I like, 113 Ranger Skinner of which I have 3 including 2 in s30v and one custom with an elk handle, the 104 compadre in 5160 I like, and everyone needs a 119 or 2 just to say you have one. Have a couple esee's and a couple thin hudson bay style butcher knives and the rest is Busse. I'm also very fond of Buck folders especially the 110 and always have one on me.

"...Anyone else lose interest in other fixed blades..."

shortly: YES.

(I'm interested in some other blades, but it remain just curiosity.... I've sold all my others, except my FallknivenF1 - as my "fishing-do it all blade")

For me it's all Busse and Kin. I also love my Survive 5.1,, and keep considering a Carothers, but havent pulled the trigger yet.
With unlimited funds I'm sure I'd have some Randall's, Rocksteads, A Martin or three,,,

Only other fixed blade I've even considered is a Dan Keffeler Assassin and Sasquatch. Other than that, I'm a Busse convert. The only ones I still have of other makers have sentimental value/gifts from my wife.

Any link to these tests ?

no one link. I compared the old to the new and used two other knives as baseline blades. One was a kabar warsword and the other was a Busse mean street. The two 3V blades were ground to 18 dps, the kabar to 20 dps and the mean street to 15 dps. The intent was to try to get a crack to propagate up the blade width. If this happened, the heat treat obviously did not relieve internal stresses within the steel. Below is just one vid, but there are many.

Hey Cobalt, you dont happen to be friends with "on_the_edge"? I noticed your carothers knife test had "break me" written on the blade just like the one Nate gave up for testing?
Just curious

Busse doesn't destroy ones interest in other fixed blade, it helps the individual develop higher expectations, that are hard to compete with.

Well. We have dealt with each other but I do not know him personally

This Treeman and my Randall model 14 are the only two non-busse kin fixed blades I own... The randall hasn't been used for anything, and while I like the Treeman (it was my grail for a while), I've become an unabashed INFI fanboy.

Almost.
I have come to appreciate a forged blade, a lot!
I like the Dozier fixed blade and the Titanium blade knife is a favorite. Jason Wilder just made me a Hartsfield style kozuka, in Ti, and Daniel Fairly just made me a FAT Ti tanto, with a nod towards Phill.

No, not at all. I like the Busses I own or have owned. They are very nice knives. There are plenty of others out there that will perform just as well.

yes, to the point that I'm already planning to sell/trade the Survive 7/7 I have had on order for a year.....I hate waiting. I'm sure it will be a nice knife but would simply rather have a TGLB or Tank buster. Love that INFI

This is always a question. I have to say, that since my first Busse (FBMLE), I have not really laid out the cash for other fixed blades.

I have a few customs.

I am always interested. Keffler knives and swords make me drool. Carothers performance knives? Yes please. Too many custom makers to list.

Japanese influenced fixed blades? Too many makers to single any one out. I blame Joe P. for this!

Custom forged blades, custom stock removal blades. etc, etc, etc.

I love knives and swords.

Interestingly enough, I have not been in a position to grab too many customs to count, because my money was tied up in Busse.

I have bought two custom fixed blades and a custom slip joint since being a Busse fan. But don't seem to be in a position to pick up what I want when they are available too often!
