Is the glass breaker on the Hest folder a spring loaded type or just an impact type tool?
 
Back on topic: will future batches of the HEST/F feature the new black clip or is it just going to be available separately?

anyway here is a pic of where i sanded.

and that is how it closed afterwords.

Furfmonkey. First of all I respect cops. I may drive 155 mph on my bike and do bad things for good people but I respect anyone who can work the streets and keep a sense of humor. So that's why I asked you about why the HEST/F might catch your eye. Today I scared my postman guy. I whipped out my HEST/F to open a package and he jumped back a few feet. So I guess in my apocalyptic, death zone, nihilistic jihad, fuel air bomb, kidnap survivor, world weary zone I didn't realize that knives scare people. Didn't mean to do that. I didn't mean this thread to be a pile on for a guy who simply keeps the streets safe. Most criminals don't really invest in well built tactical folders designed by a oft blown up adventure dude.

But Furfmonkey. Tell me your ideal knife for a cop and I will dial it in on our new product development.
 
i would say the bastard child between a HEST an Izula and a Ritter


nice easy to work and sharpen blade (you pretty much have that covered)

id love it to be 4 oz tops just for EDC i carry so much as it is
you really have a great knife there RYP i think if it was a little lighter it would be almost perfect maybe a gents version? maybe a touch thinner blade s30v stonewashed blade full flat grind black g10 handles i would probably buy 5 and tell everyone who would listen to buy one :) you would think a cop need s something serious like a tac knife or emerson etc... but honestly 90% of the cutting i do i can do with any knife whats important to me is blade shape, durability, weight,and a good lock up i can tell you a few good knives IMO and maybe you can get an idea a HEST, an Emerson horseman, the Izula folder proto, maybe Carbon fiber micarta s30v basically what you guys have done ,a folder that works like a fixed blade under 3in blade 4 finger handle under 4 oz sorry for rambling (its late)


and thanks for understanding what i do for a living and much respect to you and your knives i was just trying to give you an honest opinion nyc has crazy knife laws but for a reason.. i dont have to like em i just have to enforce em :)

you are right for the most part but ive taken emerson cqc7's and sogs and many BM and spydercos off gang members short answer? even they have hobbies and look up knives on the internet :)

some of the best conversations ive had were at 3am in the dead of winter and the only other guy standing outside was the drug dealer dishing about sports etc.. strange bedfellows indeed :)


even as a cop i forget how the general public can get scared of knives guns etc... i was in a supermarket with my wife and infant son and had my off duty pistol on me . when i got to the register the local cops were waiting for me apparently someone saw my gun under my shirt and thought i was going to rob the store.. we had a good laugh but it reminded me that not everyone is into guns and knives like most of us :) then again i do have over 60 tattoos i have my arms legs back and chest done.. (even my tattoo guy is a NYC cop)

I honestly don't know how you can do it day after day. Some places in the world should just be walled in and given occasional food and ammo drops.

PS. Modify the "knife breaker":rolleyes: into one that is spring loaded and then it will actually work under water as your car sinks to the bottom of the river.
 
Has anyone else received their LE Sterile versions in the last week? I'm still working on breaking mine in; it's getting better but not quite there yet. Wanted to see who else was working theirs through the paces too.
