Aside from the knife comments it is a little disturbing that a knife enthusiest is questioning why we would want to carry such an "aggresive" knife. I understand you having to do your job, but if it is legal in our respective states then we should be able to carry whatever we want, and not be questioned about it unless we break the law.

This.

Furf is a cop in new york. The laws here are completely different with most other places. Being a resident, I really appreciate his sentiment. Most nypd are NOT that cool.

as the the bottle opener, i've been sitting around a campfire many times opening beers that were not screw tops, usually used a multi tool, now i use the hest.

i've been using my le model pretty hard the last month and the more i've used it the better i like it. the knife has smoothed out very nicely and the lock is very strong and tight, had issues at first but there all worked out now.

Awesome. I think you really sold me. Can I ask, what issues did you have that needed ironing out? I was really concerned with the blade tip being visible when closed (I know its been fixed now) but after pics... it didn't bother me. Its not like it was exposed enough to cut you.

apparently this thread has devolved from opinions on a pocket knife to everything from constitution laws to gun and knife rights... some people want to carry ak 47s and machetes to work thats fine believe whatever you want.. im bowing out of this discussion i dont need to deal with more argumentative people than i already do at work all day...

for the record RYP asked me about NY knife laws and i replied to HIM

I am curious, from a professional standpoint, if someone had it politely tucked in their pocket with only the clip showing what would raise your antennae?

I am not concerned about other states i was merely referring to my OWN state and the liability of carrying knives in it and i was replying to RYP ..so all you 2nd amendment NRA and knife guys relax no ones coming after your armory :)

its unfortunate that people can't understand how bad crime is in NYC in my precinct and the one next door over 100 guns have been taken off the streets this year alone there has been over 46 murders and over 400 violent crimes (its a far cry from iowa) I have seen over 15 stabbings in the last 2 months and people want to whine about knife rights? GET REAL try walking a beat in a warzone with a big target on your back again sorry your thread got derailed i think im not posting in these forums i don't need to deal with gun fanatics or people who have NO clue what its like to live anywhere other than Mayberry..

FOR RYP: heres the NYC knife law info sorry your thread has taken this turn..
New York - Penal Law Section 265.01. A person is guilty of
criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree when:
(1) He possesses any firearm, electronic dart gun, electronic stun
gun, gravity knife, switchblade knife, pilum ballistic knife, metal
knuckle knife, cane sword, billy, blackjack, bludgeon, metal knuckles,
chuka stick, sand bag, sandclub, wrist-brace type slingshot or
slungshot, shirken or "Kung Fu star"; or
(2) He possesses any dagger, dangerous knife, dirk, razor, stiletto,
imitation pistol, or any other dangerous or deadly instrument or weapon
with intent to use the same unlawfully against another; or
(5) He possesses any dangerous or deadly weapon and is not a
citizen of the United States...
Criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree is a class A
misdemeanor.

"Gravity knife" means any
knife has blade which is released from the handle or
sheath thereof by the force of gravity of the application
of centrifugal force which, when released, is locked in
place by means of a button, spring, lever, or other
device. [Note: In NYC, and potentially in other NY
jurisdictions, this definition is construed to apply to
ANY folding knife with a blade that locks open. ]

AGAIN I AM ONLY REPLYING TO RYP I WILL NO LONGER BE REPLYING TO THIS THREAD AND WILL IGNORE ANY FLAMING OR PM's have a nice day

FYI So there is no confusion on my end. My comment was directed toward Politicians and the disregard for our Constitution. No bad blood here. I come from a family of LE. It’s just a little more forgiving in my area.

thank you :) i am overworked underpaid and deal with nothing but the scum of the earth all day and never get a nice word so again thanks:)

Wow im really glad I live in my small town in the south west. I can walk down the street with a gun on my hip if I want, as long as its showing, yet alone carry a knife. I couldnt imagine living some where you cant even carry a knife. My hest should be here today hopefully. I'll carry it every where I go, along with my glock 40. I under stand you being over worked and under paid. Thats why im not a cop, as much as I would love to be. They just dont get paid enough. Take care. Keep busting those worthless pieces of crap. We do need more people like you.

the blade tip being exposed did bother me, so i fixed it. the production models are fixed exactly the same way i did mine. the lock bar was just a little slippy, you could push on the back of the knife and it would slide out to the side allowing the knife to close. took it apart bent the bar alittle and that fixed that. the production knife that i got didnt need that its perfect. they do take a bit to break in and after you have opened and closed them a few hundred times a good cleaning will make it feel slick as can be.

i got mine before the recall, and mine had barely any tip sticking out, i couldnt even get a fingernail in there. perfect knife all around! guess i got lucky. :D

I completely agree on the front of the Constitution and such. My whole thing is Furf enforces the law, CLEANLY from what I read from him, he doesn't make the law. I can sincerely appreciate that. I was just pointing out the difference of here (NYC) and most other places. I don't agree with the knife laws, but what can I do.

Brooklyn has its fair share of not so pleasant places. I hope you aren't in Brownsville. Regardless, stay safe. I am a huge fan of the good PO's, and a huge anti-fan of the rest of them. :) Definitely appreciate someone who does their job well, and fairly. Kudos sir. Keep up the good work.

Awesome awesome info. Thank you! I am waiting for my turn to snap up a production regular model... no such email notification yet. I am hoping all those issues are worked out on mine by the time it reaches me cause I clearly am not as handy as you. May I ask how you remedied the blade sticking up a bit? Not cause I plan on trying it... but more out of curiosity of how the heck you did it.

Also, bending the lock seems awful scary to me. haha!

Nice nice. I hope I am as fortunate. The looks and hard use factor of this knife seem soooo damn awesome that I have to have one. And a bottle opener??? PERFECTION!

its a very easy to take apart knife, just the glass breaker 3 small screws and the pivot screw. i just put alittle pressure on the lock bar not much and it was perfect. for dropping the tip of the blade i sanded very lightly on the blade where it contacts the stop pin when closed. i took very little off, i might add i'm a jeweler and have tons of equipment to do things like this and i'm used to working on small things.

anyway here is a pic of where i sanded.

+1, well said.

Thanks for the job you do furfmonkey.

I can honestly say also I am thankful to live where the state & local laws are much, much, less restrictive. :)

Got my plain ole production model in the mail today. Very happy.

Blade tip is fully buried in the handle. Very solid lock up, no blade play in any direction.

Rotoblock works easily and I like it.

Bottle opener is about to be tested, but brilliantly works as a wave. Best vs some of the cold steel ones I have by far.

Reasonably sharp from the factory, little stropping helped that. It will get some love on the stones soon.

Size is smaller than I'd anticipated and this is a good thing really. This is an ideal EDC size for me. Looks really tame open vs say my 741 or the CRKT Kasper I also carry.

For the weight of the blade, the Ti really offsets that nicely, just a shave over 5 Oz in weight.

Fit of the scale, it overhangs the liner just a hair, but it's also not a $650 knife. Well close enough for my eye. All the holes for the hardware are cleanly milled out. No mashed up driver heads or anything like that.

Low-rider clip is very nice and with the bottle opener, it opens in one smooth stroke off the clip if I want it to.

Very happy I waited this one out, it's my new favorite.

** Yes the bottle opener works ;-) Confirmed.

Maybe i can beg RYP to make me one in black g10 with a stonewashed blade :) I would give it the Brooklyn torture test :)

I know exactly what kind of craphole you live and work in. Don't be so quick to assume that everyone outside of the big city is just an uneducated, out-of-the-loop hayseed. I've been there, and I will go out of my way to insure that I never go back.

You generalized and said that it was overkill for EDC, period...but insinuated that it was overkill for everywhere, not just where YOU are. I use knives during the day for more things than slicing up an apple or trimming the stray string from my suitcoat...

ALL of my sisters are cops, 2 of them on the east coast, Washington DC area. I appreciate your service, and theirs as well.

Still, quit patting yourself on the back so hard. No one forced you to be a cop, and it sounds like you were quite aware of the conditions of the job before you got into it.

As always, the problem isnt the knives and guns. The problem is the criminals. To come on a knife forum and say that a knife is just too "tactical" for the general citizen to carry is ridiculous.

so after everyone else decides to chill out and relax and get back on topic you come back just to be an Ahole?

i dont remember saying ONCE i didnt want to be a police officer.. i can't believe after 5 people posted nice things you come back to be a dick

and as for the patting myself on the back i will ... lets see you get stabbed and still run 2 blocks bleeding and catch the perp ... or better yet walk around ground zero for almost 2 months sorting cell phones shoes and body parts for identification of the dead...ive taken over 2000 criminals off the streets WTF have you done?

welcome to my ignore list

some people really need a good ass kickin

... the knife is made spot on for tactical or extreme survival just seems like overkill for EDC ... but again just my opinion .. i also think certain emersons sogs and Benchmades are overkill for EDC ....as well tactical knives have their place just like kitchen knives utility knives and gents folders ..

Well I'm terribly sorry. Maybe I should switch from carrying extreme tactical survival folders to kitchen knives and razor blades then

and this..... is why i don't bother with internet forums people are free to be anonymous jerks and act in a way they would never to your face
