I dont care for any SOG knives..but the hawks are great. I have had (2) of the fasthawks and I have liked both, and I aint hurt one yet.....and Im hard on stuff LOL. I want to get the full sized SOG hawk soon, and I have heard good things about the SOG machete...but Im not a sawback fan

Got a Becker to trade? Yeah, you can get one for $40, but not with a shock-corded pimp kydex sheath and a custom leather belt loop....

I dont sell/trade my Beckers LOL

and I know a guy who can make me a snazzy kydex rig for it. ;)

thanks for the offer though, Im sure that it will sell well in the Exchange if u do want to get rid of it

Sand the coating before spraying/painting on the stripper. You dont have to remove it just rough it up so the stripper can get into it. I always rough up the coating and it takes like 5 minutes to remove it and no need for another round of stripping. Literally just sand it it over so it has scratch marks on the coating and your gtg.

Never had to do that before. When it was new it ate through the old coating in 10 minutes.

Got it soaking in the spray right now. Definately easier to mess with.

have you made a kydex slip cover for the custom hawk yet Thrill?

NO. I am at a standstill until my kydex shipment arrives! Driving me crazy, I ran out and have been sitting idle all this week. I usually reorder before I run out, but had a bunch all at once and used all my rivets up, I have a small amount of kydex left..but that aint much good without rivets LOL

I have my fingers crossed it arrives today

Oh well, it was worth a try. I'll keep it just for the fun. Haven't figured out how to throw the damn thing yet...

TB, you messing with the thicker kydex now?

I hate when that happens. I used to run out of stuff before I started doing large orders from manufacturers directly. Be fidgeting all week thinking of something to do.

Anyone know where I can find a collapsible target stand? The ranges around me only have 50 & 100 yard targets. Makes it a bit difficult to practice with my pistol

What you can't knock down stuff at 100yards? You need more practice, They do that in movies all the time. :D

I had the SOG machete for a little while and the sawback drove me nuts. I gave it to a friend who thought it "looked cool" and I'm fairly sure he's never used it.

you need to throw it, its a fun sport. I like the .80, I tried the thicker stuff and am ''eh'' about it. IMO .80 is about right

Yeah, I think Im just gonna order a couple hundred dollars worth at once, so I aint got to worry about it for awhile.

Make one from PVC pipes and PVC elbows/Tees, it takes under 30 minutes to build and is cheap.

The Walmarts around here have the Caldwell folding target stands. They're pretty inexpensive, but I don't remember the price.

I actually just made mine out of PVC and made it up/down adjustable. Our range doesn't put in permanent stands, because people just shot them up. Now we have to bring in all of our own stands, unless its for a competition.

O i can. But only when hanging my head out of a speeding ferrari, or while full gallop on horseback.

Use a metal framed real estate sign.

too low at short range. I want something tall enough that I can aim at straight ahead

I saw a guy with a wooden one. Real small and just folded out. Didn't bother asking him since I didn't really care about it at the time. But now I wish I had. The PVC seems like a good idea but how collapsible is it? And when you collapse it do you just have a scattered pile of PVC?

Get your gun range to put in a pulley system for your targets. I'm assuming they are paper targets, correct?

Depends on what joints u glue and what joints u dont, I usually leave the upright 4 pieces glued together and the lower leg ''H'' glued together, so u end up with (2) solid pieces that will fit in a trunk when taken apart. U can use sandbags to hold it down, or tent pegs or u can fill the H leg up with sand/water and then seal the ends with caps.

If u google ''PVC target stand'' u should be able to find better plans/drawings/pics

When people shoot up our club's stands we make fun of them at the meeting. They're steel, but the target backer channels dent.
We also have some steel targets now too, and of course they're designed to take on-purpose hits. REALLY fun.

I try not to shoot my stand. :) What I do is basically the base (the t's to the upright I don't glue) and the upright. on the upright, I used 2 sizes of PVC that slide into each other and drilled holes to be able to adjust my target height so I impact the berm. I also put eye bolts on the target upright (2 on the top and 2 on the bottom pipe) and have alligator clips on them to hold the cardboard.

I also used to just have a wood collapsible stand, but it cost more to replace plywood than cardboard. The back was one top board and 2 legs. The front was the same with plywood attached to the face. I put j-hooks facing the middle on the legs and attached chain to the hooks to hold the angle of the stand. It worked ok, but was more of a pain to repair.
