On another note, I think The Knife Connection is like the Jimmy Johns of knife stores - freaky fast.

Ordered a BHK Bushcrafter just before midnight last night, already shipped as of 11:49am today, and if history is any indicator will be here by Wednessday.
 
Nice to have a store like that in your "back yard". Shipping is about the same to WI, though, so no complaints.

Tradewater sent me his modded Old Hickory to check out. This thing is awesome. Fits my hand perfectly, and is very comfortable to hold. It's actually bigger than I had imagined too. Shaved the hair right off my arm, and the spine is wickedly squared. If this thing doesn't throw sparks, there's something wrong with the fero rod. ;)

Oh, and tw, your sheath retention "method" :D didn't come off the leather, haha. Must have had a little heat applied. Not sure what to use o get it off without hurting the leather.

Cool. This morning I tuned up my 15-year-old Chicago Cutlery 8" chef's knife. The thing such a wedge I couldn't put an edge on it. I gave it a new edge bevel on the small belt sander with a 240g belt, hit it with the fine stone, and then stropped the burr. Then I (taped edge) rounded the corners on the handle a bit, wiped it with some sandpaper, and hit it with some tru-oil. It's looking like it might actually be a tool again.

will do. with any luck ill be going orange this week, and perhaps making a couple bucks here and there to help cushion things. This promotion thing would help to but they are really beating around the bush, even though the person currently in said position is retiring on the 24th of may. Not much time to train someone new. Althoughti DID get some awesome news. My health insurance through work, which includes my kid, went up to $450/month (while my wife is under a single plan and pays $30), which forced me to look elsewhere andi found an even better plan for $165/month. Score!
 
My first day of my internship went well lol I'm the only white guy and I'm the only one that speaks english. Oh and I'm the 2nd guy that has a liscense, gotta love landscaping lol

Haha. I'm using the "wrap in a napkin and hold over head til your arm goes numb" method of crisis aversion. If I was thinking, I would have taken a pic of the pool of blood before walking back to the house.
