"Horizon" 2014 new knives Lightning quick opening, from china Reate custom knives inc

I think the knife looks great. Please dont be discouraged by any negativity here, its only opinions, its not written in stone, just move forward with your product & let it speak for itself. Why cant there be knife enthusiasts & makers in China ?if the quality is there,it shouldnt matter where its from.
Thank you for your support. Yes, we have confidence our quality can tell everything.

ReaTe, thank you for coming to this forum and remaining professional while being somewhat attacked. I understand what you are trying to accomplish.

I hope that if I were to produce and attempt to sell a product in your country I would get the same respect as I gave out. We are all human beings.

Yes, you have some adjustments to make for marketing in this country, but I for one appreciate that it appears you are trying to produce a high-quality product and not just flood our country with mass produced low quality items, which we already have more than enough of in this country.

So stay on course, make necessary adjustments as needed and if it is meant to be, it will be. You're off to a good start.

ReaTe,

The video looks good and demonstrates great flipping action.

In your video you should have more close up looks. When showing flipping action, additionally, always demonstrate when straight up in vertical position as it has to work hardest against gravity.

Please spell out exactly what the warranty entails. Does customer pay for shipping to China? What kind of turnaround time for repair or replacement?

Will you have a presence at Blade Show in Atlanta on June 6-8, 2014? Could not find you in any of the exhibitor lists.

When will you start selling the Horizon models? Do you have plans for models with 3.5 inch and 3 inch blades?

Are you getting your steel directly from Bohler and Crucible? Can you show us documents.

When will you have a professional website and logo in place?

What kind of custom work will you accept for an existing model? For instance, annodizing, etc.

Thanks in advance.

When customer purchase a knife, he will receive the knife with some additional accessories such as little screws and steel tapered ned, just for future use. Reate will send a new one to customer and pay for the shipping for the deficient one back to China if there is a quality problem. If the knife is damaged due to misuse, Reate can repair it free of charge, but the shipping will be borne by customer. Repairing includes changing small screws, the finishing repairing of blade and handle. The repairing can be finished within 3 to 5 working days depending on the level of damage.

We are just starting, so we will not be attending the Blade Show in Atlanta on June 6-8, 2014, but we definitely will be there next year.
We will officially start to sell Horizon Series in April.
We do have plans to make 3.5 inch and 3 inch blades. Before we make, do you have any ideas or advice for us?

I get someone saying: Not for me because... I do not get folks spending a bunch of time and energy trying to convince others to agree with them. I hope someone tries them out and posts a thorough review. Until they do, it's mostly a bunch of meaningless blather.

Pictures of the shop and makers wouldn't hurt.

why dont we make these types of requests to american makers to provide proof that they are in fact making the knives in america. And more to the point what would pictures of their shop, and its workers prove?

Maybe they are secretly being made in the USA...

good one, lol. Seriously the only thing I can think of is that he is requesting pics of the shop and its workers to provide proof that it isnt children assembling the knives. Which if you have seen 75% of the people working at Begg designs it really shouldnt matter. I understand being skeptical but at the same time when going over this whole thread there is a lot of requests being made that would not normally come into play if these knives were made in any other location other than china. People have to remember that the folks in china are every bit as human as we are. They have just as much potential to create a great product as any other human in any other country. We quickly forget that 20-30 years ago japan was exactly where china is now. And no one would have predicted that that area of the world would be capable of producing companies like Rockstead. China is getting better. In some cases (not many but some) their products are on par and in some cases surpass what is being made here in the usa. Not all of china has caught up and they still make plenty of junk but so do we. And the quality gap is closing fast. China seems to want to prove that they can be a force to be reckoned with in the knife world. I have to give these guys credit for (mostly) using their own design (many usa made knives take inspiration from others. Some usa makers completely rip each other off and get away with it. ), Create a makers profile on this forum and are answering every single question without hesitation. Things are changing and if we just keep the "china sucks" attitude and ignore their advancement the tortoise will surely pass the hare. I think we should encourage this new maker instead of grilling him and pushing him away. He isnt posting replicas or clones. That alone should garner some respect. Just change the pivot ok?

Good stuff. You're making progress and not letting the distractors sway you.

I would use a 3" flipper a lot more but a 3.5" flipper will be your most popular model.

The question of steel will always come up as it did with Kizer. So, are you getting your steel directly from Bohler and Crucible?

Bottom line, there'll be people who will try out the Horizon and we'll know about the quality plus fit & finish soon.

Oh look, they do have a warranty...

Whats next to nitpick and point out? It really doesnt matter, some people will continue to find something to bring up to deter others from considering buying one. What are you guys so afraid of??? Is this that much of a threat that it needs bad press and they havent even mailed a knife out yet?

Do American companies need that much help? If this truly is inferior to American knives, then it will surely fall flat on its face on its own without anyone having to fanatically bash it.

Work on the pricing and when you establish a reputation, work your way up and add upgrades as you go. I can already imagine that people will have very high expectations at $350 from China, that is Sebenza prices after all. Surely there will be kinks to deal with and we all know the spirit of American pride around here. You should not set yourself up for failure. Just saying.

Some folks on Bladeforums are particularly good at chasing companies away. Even Kershaw/ZT had their subforum here closed after enduring enough of it.
