"Horizon" 2014 new knives Lightning quick opening, from china Reate custom knives inc

We do have plans to make 3.5 inch and 3 inch blades. Before we make, do you have any ideas or advice for us?

1. No recurve, please.
2. In the 3" model, make it as lightweight as possible, and very slim for EDC.
3. Drill for tip-up carry as well, as some users prefer that method of carry.
4. Maybe use a CF or G10 scale on the non-locking side to bring prices down and lighten the knife?

Ok website is a bit sparse but does have some pictures (including a pic of the factory floor) and talks about their guarantee.

When customer purchase a knife, he will receive the knife with some additional accessories such as little screws and steel tapered ned, just for future use. Reate will send a new one to customer and pay for the shipping for the deficient one back to China if there is a quality problem. If the knife is damaged due to misuse, Reate can repair it free of charge, but the shipping will be borne by customer. Repairing includes changing small screws, the finishing repairing of blade and handle. The repairing can be finished within 3 to 5 working days depending on the level of damage.

We are just starting, so we will not be attending the Blade Show in Atlanta on June 6-8, 2014, but we definitely will be there next year.
We will officially start to sell Horizon Series in April.

Nix the recurve, and drill and tap screws for left or right hand carry. A liner with a G10 scale can cut costs some, and bring weight down a little.

No recurve and lefty drilling would make the knives universally appealing (not just for us southpaws, but also for people who carry their knife on their non dominant side. A "boring" (not embellished) lower end model could also be a great way to ease into the market. Quality knives for good prices are usually a big hit among enthusiasts, and happy customers spread word quickly.

Also, giving me as many free knives as possible would be awesome :D

ReaTe, thank you for coming to this forum and remaining professional while being somewhat attacked. I understand what you are trying to accomplish.

I hope that if I were to produce and attempt to sell a product in your country I would get the same respect as I gave out. We are all human beings.

Yes, you have some adjustments to make for marketing in this country, but I for one appreciate that it appears you are trying to produce a high-quality product and not just flood our country with mass produced low quality items, which we already have more than enough of in this country.

So stay on course, make necessary adjustments as needed and if it is meant to be, it will be. You're off to a good start.

Thanks for your support.

Good stuff. You're making progress and not letting the distractors sway you.

I would use a 3" flipper a lot more but a 3.5" flipper will be your most popular model.

The question of steel will always come up as it did with Kizer. So, are you getting your steel directly from Bohler and Crucible?

Bottom line, there'll be people who will try out the Horizon and we'll know about the quality plus fit & finish soon.

We purchase M390 directly from Bohler China, and s35v from Crucible via an importing company.

I will participate in the pass around and post up some honest feedback after I put the knife though it's paces.I have had many designs, brands, and steels pass through my hands over the years. Thanks for the opportunity.

and you STOLE it. and the price is high as heaven.
guys, you still want this?

You know it's not really a helpful post when your link is all in Russian. I have absolutely no clue what they're discussing there.

So you're saying the 3D-machined texture on the titanium is the same, and that ReaTe stole it from Shirogorov?

It looks like the machining and pattern is similar. I'd still get it.

I've seen G10 textures that look the same between different knife manufacturers, are they stealing from each other? How about the ones that have stonewashed finishes?

The original Sidis' design, custom knife Koordinal, then he had agreement with ZT and they are makin 0454 now
A-Dai STOLE IT ALSO and made "zt 0999" you can find it on aliexpress. I also can find for you that page where the biggest russian kevin john and a-dai knives seller name Mikhail came to russia with "horizon-a" prototype several months ago and sold it AS AUCTION at guns.ru and it STILL WAS CHEAPER!!!! and even now he is going to sell it cheaper then on aliexpress. because it does NOT cost THIS much, i swear.

and now he uses good people who never heard of koordinal. I owe shirogorov's knives and it's quality is NOTHING to do with A-dai garbage.
