Yeah I'm pretty pissed. Do not have credit cards and the only payment card I have is the one I cannot use now. Hopefully the paypal went through. It is not showing in my account though. Guess we'll see. If it did not go through I'm going to have to mail a damn check. Haven't dome that in years. Gotta love the age of instant gratification.
 
When I woke up this morning and realized I had a bk16 on order, I smiled. Come Friday, I'll have to check to see if there are any left, and I'll pick up all 3 models.

unless the people were smart, and used a laptop at a cafe, there's a chance to catch them. doesn't do the victim (you) any good, but apple does record some information about the user id, computer, serial, and they can possible reference that :)

I don't blame you for being pissed, heck I'm kinda pissed off for you. I hope they get it straightened out for you without too much hassle.

Had something similar happen to me earlier this year. Got a call from the credit union - someone bought a couple hundred bucks worth of groceries and got declined trying to fill up a boat with $150 of gas over an hour from where I live. They reimbursed my account almost instantly so all was good. I pretty much refuse to buy anything online with a debit card and would rather wash dishes than pay with one at a restaurant. I can always refuse to pay a credit card with fraudulent charges, but it's a lot harder when money is gone from your account and you have to get it back.

FYI, I got an email instantly from PayPal when ordering and it's showing up on PayPal site. Doesn't show up on my cc statement though yet.

also, debit cards requier a pin? you might consider where that was stolen? skimmers... PEOPLE? consider a longer pin?

in particular look at all the gadgets you stick your card in, atms, strip clubs, grocery stores, gas stations. see if there's a skimmer attached.

i haven't seen one in the wild, but apparently they are now mass produced (in china of cousre), and sold in lots. the really good ones attach INTERNALLY to things like gas pumps (which require a KEY usually, so someone is in the loop), and others just snap over the original reader but transmit information still - sneaky).

After continually changing my mind about which I wanted (needed?) a BK15 or BK16, this thread has actually made my thought process easier...
A BK16 now ( I really like the way the Sabre grind looks) and a BK15 when they are in full production.

Man, sorry to hear that, Liveitloud. I've had that on a much smaller scale with Paypal pulling from my account. Debit cards are dangerous, because many of them don't set up the fraud protections you get on a credit card. Unfortunately, for some of us, it's the only way we can order online. We decided a couple years ago to can the credit cards, so we're kind of in the same situation.

How can you guys tell how many are left? I'm really surprised only 60 were ordered by this morning. At this rate, I may be able to get a complete non-user set by the end of the week.

Man, i'm tempted to order one myself but the $36 shipping charge to Toronto (Canada) is hard to swallow.

Some, but not all, debit card issuers will allow "pinless" transactions.

What I believe happened in my case is someone got my debit card number and created a fake card. Both my wife and I still had our cards and no internet purchases where made. I think they used the faked card and ran it as a credit transaction at the grocery store and gas station. They got hung up at the gas station as almost all here require your billing zip code be entered for security purposes.

Yep, I ordered the BK16. Otherwise I would have just fretted a chunk of the day away with thoughts on should/shouldn't I order and be worried that if I didn't I'd miss out.

Besides this way it leaves me more free time to think of ways to explain to my G/F why I bought another Knife...

What I don't understand is why anyone would risk getting caught for credit card fraud to buy music. It's not like you can't torrent any amount of music these days. Still not legal but much more forgiving.

I think there's some way to make it so it turns into money for you or something, there's some kind of scam involved. It happened to a friend/coworker before as well. Same thing, suddenly had $700 dollars spent from his card on itunes.
 
Only time I was fraudulently charged by iTunes was when my ex used my credit card number to charge apps on her iPhone... That led to an interesting set of phone calls...
 
my FPR16 has still not shipped. *sigh* I hope it goes out tomorrow. Im already tired of waiting
 
i need to just try to put in the back of my mind. LOL its like when ur a kid, waiting for last day of school or for christmas
