If you could only have ONE GEC, which would it be?

It changes sometimes, but right now I would have to go with the 22. Great size for a watchpocket!!

Changed my mind :D and it'll be changed again no doubt

This one, like everything about it.

Every GEC I own is well made and worthy to be carried; that said I have only carried two of them and this Krack-A-Jack, featuring an Ole Jack shield, is my favorite. If forced to keep only one, this would be it. OH

That's a keeper for sure. 👍👍

I don't have any particular GEC knife that is a favorite so any of these would do.

This, no question. I prefer it even over my stag, but if I had a copperhead bone that may take the cake. It's getting nice and grey.

Very interesting topic. I've been paring down my collection recently, so this one really hits home to me. I've never been an accumulator, and knives are really the first thing I've had a collection of since I was a kid. Currently, I'm down to 6 Queens, 4 Schrades, 2 GECs, 7 fixed blades, 2 modern folders, and a pile of cheapos for handing out to people that ask me for a knife when I know that they'll never carry or use it. So for what I consider my collection I'm down to 21 knives from over 100 this last summer (I don't remember the exact number when my wife sat down and actually counted, but 152 seems to stand out in my head). Not too shabby. Most have been given away, some traded, and one or two sold. I've just come to the realization that I'd rather have quality over quantity, not as in quality of the knives themselves but in my relationship with them.

The two GECs I have left are ones that I'd have serious hangups about ever letting go. Here is the only picture I have of my two GECs together, I have no idea why I took this:

If I had to choose one it would be the 23, as that was my first US made pocket knife and it was in my pocket every day for well over a year before I moved on to anything else. The 92 that I received from Rachel would come in a close second. The 92 is really the perfect frame for GEC. The Eureka is a mid-sized do anything workhorse, and it's really the only knife anybody would ever need to have. When I work my way down into the single digits as far as knives owned I'm sure that these two will still be with me.

Cory I think the less knives you have the more special each knife will be. The 23 is a wonderful choice. A big, broad, sturdy remington style trapper like that is a quintessential american knife.

I think the perfect GEC pattern is the #15. Perfect size for edc, and of all of the variations I prefer the Beer Scout. Runner up would be their #47 pattern.

Good choice John!!!

Choosing only one GEC is quite difficult. It would have to be either a 15, 68, 74 or 77. I would include a 72 and 73 but the blades are 1/8" to long to carry concealed here, so they get ruled out. That said, my choice for today is a 15. This one just fits, both pocket and hand.

Still the 33, any iteration, but the whittler is the one I would choose as my one and only. (my earlier pic in this thread got lost when i got a new phone)
