I carried only 1 knife through out my 6 years service . i carried it in the jungle the desert and during my artic warfare training . it was a Sheffield made version of the buck 110 . and I didn't really need anything else . and if I had to go again it would be the 110 :)

Attached to the end of a BAR with duct tape. :D

Victorinox SwissTool and I am good to go.
Someone will have a fixed when I need one.:)
Exactly! These one pound folders and/or two pound fixed 10" blade suggestions are most definitely not coming from people who've ever been deployed. Not that I've been, but at least I get how unrealistic that it is.

Why would I bring anything else but this?

folder: Spyderco Military, if Sal believes it's a knife he'd send his son to war with, who am I to argue ;)

fixed: probably a Fallkniven F1, large enough for survivalpurposes, small enough to carry easily and overall near indestructible.

I don't know (perhaps something more reliable) but it is not an answer to the question asked.

The title of this thread is: If you had to take one knife to war;

the question asked is: If you had to take 1 folder and 1 fixed blade knife to war what would it be?

Now that CS is using better steel...

Since I carry it everyday and feel comfortable with it.... This guy

Kinda surprised that there aren't more votes for Emersons
