In My Opinion, Still the King

I'll stick with my Buck 110 (425HC), 112 (D2), 110LT (CPM-154), Ontario RAT 1 (Aus 8), and Case Sod Buster Jr. (True Sharp).
They do everything I need a single blade folder for.
A stockman and 4 blade Scout/Camp knife covers everything else. :)

It’s taken me a long time to come around to the wire clip. They aren’t as sturdy as the hourglass clips but they carry really well.

Lanyards? I don’t even own a boat!
I actually do use a lanyard sometimes and at least 7 of my Delicas sport one. And no, wise guys, not fobs, actual lanyards. :)

I think only my new Vtoku-2 Delica has a fob.

IMO, the Delica 4 is still the king of EDC knives. I still can't find a better combo of utility, comfort, and value.

Works like a charm, gets and stays sharp, doesn't scare too many people, is light and thin, ergonomic, and cuts like crazy.

So who else is a Delica lover, and what knives do you think are better EDC choices?

It's a very old design now, but it's amazing how good it still is. There are many competitors, and I would like to know what some of you guys think may be better. I've handled many of the competitors in shops, but I can't seem to find something better than my Delica in an overall package (including function, price, value, etc.).

Anyway, long live the Delica!

Yep. I agree. Its in my pocket now.

Ahhh Grasshopper ... If you use a lanyard (not a fob; there is a major difference between the two.) properly, you can't lose your knife if/when you drop it. :)
A lanyard is generally 32 to 34 inches long, (including clip swivels) and connects the knife to your belt or a belt loop. The knife is still carried in your pocket, as normal. :)

Another plus for the Delica/Endura is the FRN pattern and durability hides all but the most heinous of use. One of my Endura's still looks new after many months of carry in all conditions on construction sites. My Ontario Rat 1 FRN, while super slippery also scratches/mars like a champ. Cold steel FRN is quite hard/durable also.

There are few EDCs that match the Delica in form, function and value. My Zome shares pocket time with much higher priced, but no more functional, knives and always stays in the rotation.
Hi Sir I am new here.
Which could be according to you the king of edc knives with thin 4inch blade.
I mean I would love a great slicer but with a sturdy blade. What do you advice ?

To me, Delica would be a lot better if they have thinner behind the edge thickness than the current 0.025".

As much as I like Spyderco, I have to say I'd choose a Mini Grip over a Delica 80% of the time. I much prefer the axis lock to backlocks. For a small EDC knife, the Mini Grip is a beaut. That's just my preference, though. Oh yeah, the warranty is bombproof as well. I am not gentle with my mini Ritter at all.

I recently bought a Benchmade 556-1 to pair it with my 551-1. The Axis lock is definitely more fun to play with and operate than the lock back. The mini grip is also very well built with better material. However

Slicer usually requires a thin blade whereas sturdy usually means a thick blade, so you will have to compromise. How about Spyderco Military or ZT0804cf?

The wasted space between the bottom of the secondary bevel and the top of the handle is a sin in 2018. Make a damn 50/50 choil and call it a Delica 5. Or bring the cutting edge all the way down to the handle. Either way, big blemish on an otherwise brilliant design. As it stands, I'd rather have a Native because of the this.

But I still think a large and small 21 can handle any task.

To the guy shitting on Cold Steel, get an American Lawman in your hand. You'll thank us. Hard to know with their advertising, but they make some of the very best sub $100 folders on the planet.

Thanks for answering me! I think that could be the solution.
also saw the extrema ratio resolza large but I think it’s too big!

I love FRN! It's strong, lightweight, resistant to chemicals, resistant to temperature changes, and cost effective.

Edit: Comes in a variety of colours.

When I started this hobby half a decade ago, I thought (Delica) FRN was plastic garbage. But after many trials & tribulations with titanium, G10, carbon-fiber; I realized FRN has the best resistance to cosmetic fractures. Moreover, (imo) it's the most practical handle material.

Nice. All of those knives you mentioned are great. Buck 110 is a classic. But it weighs a ton compared to the Delica, and the Rat 1 is pretty big and also has AUS 8 steel, which is not the best. The RAT 2 with D2 steel is pretty nice

I also agree that the Delica would be better with a jimped forward choil like the PM2 and some of their other knives. I posted this comment in the Spyderco forums, and Sal himself replied and said it would not be coming to the Delica because most users were against having a forward choil. That is basically my only complaint about the Delica.
