Inflated prices

Another thing to consider, and I'm being totally serious...

When you shine a light on BF members who-- Mods, Spark, appointed flipper spotters, whomever-- have determined have "taken advantage" of another member, aren't you at the same time, shining that same light on the "victim" of the flipper?

Some would interpret that as a second victimization.
Your mocking isn't amusing.

Don't worry. We have an excellent victim support network here. If anyone gets triggered there's a protocol.

It wasn't meant to be amusing...there was no :):p or  attached.

It's a serious concern.

The point has been made <several times> that a true flipper likely has no conscience and doesn't care about getting "outted."

But every time the batsignal for flippers is shone over Gotham...

at the same time, it's announced <in effect>, "Hey we got a fool over here who likes to throw his/her money away, or who doesn't know any better, or who likes to be victimized...or whatever. But they need protection, bless their heart! Although it's too late for them to be made whole because they're an idiot, but at least they were sacrificed for the greater good of the community."

No, I'm a guy who likes to buy knives.

Why is your tone so adversarial?
Yea. Ok. Your condescending post is a joke. Sometimes guys who really want a blade will take the hit on the chin and cough up the money. Doesn't make it any less shabby for the greedy tool who bought 7 of the same knife solely to flip here.

I'm not being condescending and I regret you feel that way...not my intent.

I totally agree!

Ok, point taken. But if YOU can discern who the true flippers are NOW on BF, without a " BladeForums Flipper Hall of Shame," why do you think a fellow member needs your <or anyone else's> help in making the same judgment?

That, shiny, could be considered being condescending.

Mangled argument of the year so far. Well done. That is epically wrong. It just qualifies as sophistry, just.

Because the people who are unaware of who the flippers are but would like to know who NOT to support could use it as a guide. I may keep an eye out for flippers and spot them but doesn't mean others can spot them.

400+ transactions in 4 years is quite noteworthy.

Interesting-we will have to see if it becomes a trend.
As I have said, I have no problem with the administration enforcing their rules
Those who are as bold as that guy will be swatted. The ones who are just under the threshold and walking the line should be called out for what they are- in my opinion.

Thanks for the offer to "keep an eye out."

But I can spot a flipper for myself, maybe even better than you can provide the service for me.

I can also eat cornbread without choking. :p

But I admit, I do need your help in ferreting out the point you're attempting to make here.

Since neither side will win the debate about "Flippers" on Bladeforums, perhaps the serious limited edition collectors can form a sub group to help each other buy enough of any given limited run, and distribute them amongst yourselves.
It would take some effort, coordination, and trust, but may be possible.

You think you're clever lol Now I remember why your screen name was familiar :)

Agreed.

However, I don't see it as a battle of outting "Flippers" vs. keeping them under the radar.

I think it's a bigger issue of personal responsibility and liberty.

I think this should be something everyone should be able to do on their own.

If I need help, I'll PM a member/Mod/Spark I trust can help me.

I don't need, nor do I want a panel of members or thread itself to memorialize who the evildoers and their victims are.

Aside from that, give me the liberty to do a deal with whomever I choose without the threat of Big BF Brother stepping in, dissecting the deal, and putting it up on the projection screen for everyone to comment on about how big a dummy I was for paying my own money for something I wanted and yet someone else has arbitrarily decided was over the line.

Have you ever stopped to think what the next step may be?

Deals reported, or even voided if deemed they went down with a "Flipper."

It's not beyond the pale, it could just be a step closer to it.

...edited out...

In a flipping scenario, the "idiot" (your word) changes depending upon your perspective. Is the idiot the manufacturer who has their knives priced below what the market will bear? If a flipper can sell a knife one week after its release for double the original price, shouldn't the manufacturer think about raising their price? What about the retail seller? Same questions. Aren't they the "idiot" because they sell a limited edition knife for $155 to public consumers when they could get a lot more? Then there are the flippers, buying multiples of the same knives only to turn around and charge significantly over the price they purchased the knives at. Idiotic behavior? Finally, there is the secondary market buyer who buys one from the flipper. Do you think maybe the flipper thinks his buyer is an idiot for paying such an exorbitant price? I guess I am saying that I understand your point, but respectfully feel you are grasping at straws here.

I know that there are many issues that are difficult to resolve with flippers--what exactly constitutes flipping? An objective definition requires more than some vague inclusion of timing, price, how many knives are involved, who is selling, etc. It's tough stuff and not easy to define. I do not pretend to have the answer. Nevertheless, ignoring problems because their solution, if one exists, is difficult is taking the easy road. Closing one's eyes to something or looking the other direction does not make it go away. The notion that obvious flippers will simply go elsewhere, which some have stated, does not mean that they should be allowed here.

Funny a flipper doesn't want a list of flippers. Epic toasty was a flipper who didn't want a list of flippers too and he was a flipper with a second account.

This ain't the public and you have no rights here. This is a privately owned forum. Cry me the freedom speech somewhere else, flipper.
