Jack Wolf Knives - Back on Track

Jack Wolf Knives Jack Wolf Knives
My guess is that these knives won't meet general popularity but will have a fan-based niche market. Which would be perfectly acceptable to start and grow your business.

Not a direct comparison, but many custom knife makers are now creating production knives collaborating with popular Chinese brands at this price point.

Also as a side note, in my opinion, traditionals are more difficult to prototype correctly than modern folders (speaking as a laymen), especially when you are pursuing specific traditional patterns.

Regardless, good luck to you and hope to see your products available in the near future!
I think that is a fair assessment. I am by no means trying to take over the knife game; rather I am trying to fill a niche I saw unaddressed. Specifically, a production modern-traditional slipjoint with fit and finish above and beyond the Lion steel offerings. I think the lion steels are great for the price, but to me they are lacking a few things I really wanted to see in a higher end production slip joint. Specifically, thicker blade stock with hollow grinds, integral titanium liners and bolsters, hafted construction (flat and flush springs), and really tight fit and finish, in the most popular timeless patterns. I also developed what I think is some of the coolest packaging in the industry, which is focused on satisfying the collector who really appreciates the entire experience. I would be extremely pleased to pull some of the modern folder guys into traditional knives, and I think these will appeal to that crowd more than a GEC would, due to the familiarity of materials and construction.

As far as prototyping, a LOT of effort has gone into that at this point. I have had a chance to get these in the hands of dozens of people (more if you count the knife shows), take suggestions, make tweaks, and really dial them in to what I think is the best the manufacturer is capable of. Are they perfect? Nope. Are they excellent for the price? I think so.

I am hoping to start sales in about 60 days. I have started to sign on dealers and the biggest online shops in town have shown interest in supporting the project already. Plus I've secured 3 European dealers as well. So all I can do is try my best and see how things go!

Thank you for the well wishes, I really do appreciate it!

Good to see you having a crack mate, hope all works out well for you. I always have admiration for those prepared to put their money down and play the game.

Thank you friend! Your kind words really do motivate me. Like Winston Churchill said, “Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”

Product label, as in its packaging? Or a stick-on label?

From Section 304 of the Tariff Act of 1930, as amended (19 U.S.C. 1304):

Part 134 of the CBP Regulations (19 CFR 134), implements the country of origin marking requirements and exceptions of 19 U.S.C. 1304. 19 CFR 134.43(a) requires that: Except for goods of a NAFTA country, articles of a class or kind listed below shall be marked legibly and conspicuously by die stamping, cast-in-the-mold lettering, etching (acid or electrolytic), engraving, or by means of metal plates which bear the prescribed marking and which are securely attached to the article in a conspicuous place by welding, screws, or rivets: knives, forks, steels, cleavers, clippers, shears, scissors, safety razors, blades for safety razors, surgical instruments, dental instruments, scientific and laboratory instruments, pliers, pincers, nippers and hinged hand tools for holding and splicing wire, vacuum containers, and parts of the above articles. Goods of a NAFTA country shall be marked by any reasonable method which is legible, conspicuous and permanent as otherwise provided in this part.

Further reading says that products that are easily separated from their packaging must be permanently marked.
All of us here appreciate your ability to cut and paste, but your comment is unnecessary in this thread. No one else said it but I know people were thinking it. This thread is to talk about the knives not import laws!

I will be getting one, just not sure which model yet. As much as I like the challenge of re-pinning a slipjoint it is nice to be able to take one apart with a driver to clean it sometimes.
I have plenty of “traditional” slip joints but a modern twist thrown in will be a nice variance.

Thank you for the support Ernie!

I also developed what I think is some of the coolest packaging in the industry

For the ones coming to California, make sure it has the California Prop. 65 Warning label on it. I got a new Case Sod Buster Jr. in the other day and as you can see, Case got the word and is now complying with California regulations. Haven't seen it on GEC packaging yet but I'll bet it's coming soon after California gives them a friendly nudge with a threat of lawsuits. The last few knives I've received from the dealer in the Smoky Mountains have also had the Prop 65 Warning on the knife packaging including the Remington Bullet knife.

Noted for the 3rd time, thank you.

Could be wrong but don't think they're a Paid BF Dealer. At least, they're not on the Paid BF Dealer List posted by Gary Peregrin Peregrin
If I can only post the dealers where my knives can be bought if they are paid BF dealers, I was not aware of that rule.
You know, I see this mentioned a lot, but I've yet to actually find where this rule is posted. Its not mentioned specifically in the general site rules or the exchange rules .

OK Found it here in a separate rule section...... https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/vendor-links-referrals-endorsements.754956/

It's a 'stickie' at the top of our forum...

Pulled from that 'stickie'...
"In order to avoid violations of bladeforums.com's "Terms Of Service" (TOS) or our own sub-forum guidelines, please refrain from posting vendor links, referrals and/or endorsements within our threads as well as directing our members toward a particular commercial site.
("Deal & Bargain Spotting" is a violation of the TOS)

Let's keep our threads focused on the discussion of traditional knives, not vendors and their web sites.

The exception to the rule above is that you may refer other members to dealers who support bladefrums.com via a "Dealer" membership. Refer to the Paid Dealer Members List ( Updated 10/21/2018 )."

Well, thanks for that. I promise not to cut and paste anything that annoys you ever again.

John JohnDF JohnDF beat me to the answer before I could post. See his post above.

Heres the thing - while this rule is seemingly enforced across the entire forum, those stickies don't seem to be posted everywhere. As I mentioned before, the general rules that are linked to in every subforum (and in the posts above) don't mention this...maybe they should.
