Joint ABS/Guild Show

Thanks, Bob. I spoke with someone from in-house reservations and asked her to check Knifemakers Guild and she could not find anything. But as I intimated, my confidence in her was . . . not great. Think I'll wait and call back and maybe I'll bet someone else next time.

Ken, I just checked my Marriott account and the reservations both show the group as "Knife Makers Guild". Betcha the problem is as simple as that spacing between "Knife" and "Makers".

Woow, dear friends a big salute to all, here a lot of informations about Kansas City! thanks thanks!!!

I will be in Kansas City from 16 september to 21 and I'd like to have information about local attractions and obviusly good food. I live near the sea (Positano - Italy) and I love good steak and good wine.

Look forward in meeting you. As we get closer we will be able to posting the local attractions that will be taking place during that time span in addition to some food/shopping, etc to do in town.

But if you want a outstanding steak, my recommendation is the Majestic Steakhouse which is a few blocks away. (http://www.majestickc.com/) Also would recommend the Savoy Grill, also a few blocks away.

This Should be a lot of Fun I have my table see you all there, tables are limited so if you want one you should jump now.

I will be there and am looking forward to it. It should be quite a show. Now I just need to think of something special to bring for it so I don't feel quite so humbled with that many outstanding makers involved.

I grew up in K.C. and though I haven't been there for years, The Golden Ox Restaurant used to be one of the best for a good steak. K.C. is also known for it's BBQ. Arthur Bryant's isn't that far from the Marriott. No atmosphere but great BBQ.

Even though I only live 45 minutes away, what with prior experience as to how things tend to get 'better' AFTER the Show, might have to get a room my damnself....just to be safe and not miss out on all of the fun!!! ;)

I received my table, I'm really looking forward to this show. Hope this is the beginning of an excellent showing for both knife organizations.

Hello, I have a problem. I have just booking my table and my fly. About the hotel I can't find a page for booking reservation room for event. I would like to know price for a double room. My english is not good and I can't phone at the hotel... Do you have a direct mail for Marriott hotel?

Thanks

Denis, I have the same problem. I want search a alternative solution.
I also contacted the Marriot, but are not able to get direct hotel in Kansas City e-mail.

If among you there are suggestions for hotel accommodations near the Marriot I'd like to. ...... without spending a fortune :-)

To overcome any language problems you might contact a local travel agent? They should be able to make all the reservations for you. They should have access to all hotel rates in downtown K.C. as well.

I called the Mariott and the reservations lady said you can contact them by e-mail at asanchez@marriott.com.

Google should be able to provide close hotels and prices. About 30 blocks south of the Marriott is a district called the Country Club Plaza. It has world class dining, shopping and many hotels. From there you can get to the Marriott in about 20 min by bus with a few blocks walk.

The closest barbecue is Arthur Bryants (old shool food, room and presentation, e.g. butcher block paper) at 17th and Brooklyn, Gates (old school food with updated presentation and dining room) at 12th and Brooklyn and Fiorella's Jack Stacks (fancier white table cloth style) at 22nd and Wyandotte. They all have websites.
