Things are not looking good and my initial optomistic posts have long been shown to be incorrect. I am glad that i am not one of those who ordered a Joe Hargis knife. After all this dishonesty, even if i received a great knife i wouldn't want it.
Much of the enjoyment of a custom knife is the positive relationship with the knifemaker that comes about through the transaction and there is nothing positive here.
RevDevil, your recent posts here are defensive and unnecessarily harsh. There is no need and no purpose served by being aggressive towards those who through no fault of their own find themselves with no knife and no refund.
Joe Hargis has amply demonstrated that inquiries and actions have zero effect on his behavior. Banning him from BF would not alter the chances that those involved might get a knife or a refund. Even if he does ultimately 'come through' he no longer deserves to be a BF member.

I just Googled "Joe Hargis Knives" and there are no hits at all for his website, whereas before I could get a hit but it wouldn't take me anywhere. It's as though his website never existed.

The only thing that pops up are My Space and Facebook pages and since I don't have an account with either, I couldn't get any information from them.

No hits for Rick Hargis either.

If I was in your position, I would have asked nicely, for help. Either via email or PM. Since you appear confused as to what the definition of asking is vs demanding, let me give you a brief example. This is asking:

"Hi,
We're having problems with this knifemaker, is there anythingyou could do to help us with this matter? We would appreciate anything you could do to help with this issue appreciate anything you could do.
Thanks"

You can get an infraction for being a smart ass with mods, yes you are pushing it cutting it close. I'd recommend you just back up, way up. Read more, post less and let someone else deal with things. As I said, you wanted my attention, you have it, now deal with it.

Based on the views of this thread I would say a lot of people now know what Joe has done and there will be a damper on his business from this forum.

Rev, thank you for emailing him to see what's going on. We appreciate any help we can get.

Tiger and Northern, I know exactly how you guys feel but let's see what happens on Wednesday before we ask mods to Ban him. This thread has already given Joe a lot of poor feedback. If he does not do what he promised all of us, and Deputy Jordan for that matter, then we can create another thread requesting the Mods to take action against Joe's account. I'm not positive, but I do think accepting money for knives and not shipping them is atleast worthy of an infraction that will stick with his account for years to come.

No problem. I can't say whether or not he will reply, but I'll keep an eye out. If he contacts any of you, let me know.

I'm new to BF and I don't post much, but add my name to the list of guys Joe screwed over. I made the mistake of sending my deposit as a "Paypal gift". He was amazing at responding to my initial emails, but then started making A LOT of excuses why the knife wasn't done. I waited... and waited. Finally I just asked for one of his "production mini-muks" to be done with it. He then stopped responding completely. I then asked for a refund and he said 'no' he'd lose out on the knife materials already invested (wtf?). Finally I got so tired of threatening his business integrity - (posting my experience), that I just walked away from the deposit. $40 and a headache later. Lesson learned.

I don't like killing people creditability, but this guy is a world-class jerk.
 
Has anyone heard anything today ? Theres 5 or 6 of us on here alone that have been burned. Tomorrow is D-day or charges will be laid. Has anyone heard anything at all?

I have tried with two more e-mails to no avail.

Nothing seems to get to him.

I have Joe's email address and phone number now. I'm going to email him later today and make an effort to call the number and see what develops. I want to make sure I include everyone that is owed in the email to him.

Thanks for going out of your way to help us out like this Rev. If the possibility of loosing his outlet to sell his knives, on top of criminal charges doesn't get Joe responding, I highly doubt anything will. I believe that the people you have listed are the only people still without knives. Thank you again for stepping up and persuading Joe on our behalf.

I know you are aware of the issues happening regarding your recent problems on Bladeforums. I've been trying to sort through some of the posts in this thread:

I need to know what's happening on your end to create such a delay. If you have some health or family issues, that is understandable. You need be more diligent in communicating, it helps prevent things from blowing up. Anyway, I really need to hear from you and have some kind of timeframe on what you are planning to do to make things right for the half dozen people that are either owed a refund or a knife as ordered. As far as knifemakers are concerned, you should be aware of how quickly a reputation can be destroyed. You are getting pretty close to that point, and I think it's a shame everytime it happens. I've seen it happen to a lot of otherwise good makers just throw things away for a few hundred dollars. It's not worth it. You know this much.

If we do not get some sort of plan together soon, we will not have much recourse left other than to permanently ban your account on Bladeforums. I do not want it to come to that, believe me. My hands are tied here. You've got 6-7 people that were left hanging and have not heard aything from you since 7/11/12. I'm willing to give you a couple days to reply to me and give the members a reply in their thread. In case you are wondering, I'm a mod on Bladeforums, specifically in the Exchange - username is RevDevil.

I hope to hear from you soon.
 
One of the other fellas from upstate NY that ordered a knife- said he received an email from joe hargis today, stating that he had sent the knife .

Have any others had any emails of the sort ?

Sorry reddevil thats al I can tell you. He is not a member of BF for a reason. However, he already owned a Hargis knife, and he was waiting for his second. Now he seems to have a tracking number with USPS. Knife was shipped late today .
Ben or Tiger have you heard anything ? or hobiecat ?
 
I got a reply from Joe tonight. He says he shipped a knife out today, bpiatt got a refund via paypal/CC company, and the rest will be shipping soon. He will be available on Friday, as he says he currently has no internet at his home.
I will ask the rest of the people owed money to please be patient and don't push to hard. If there is a serious matter he is dealing with, we need to remain sensitive to that to some degree. Communication was accomplished tonight, so let's go easy at this point.
