Keep An Eye Out for Berak

Why is it that I'm absolutely certain you've never gotten laid?

Not necessary, nor helpful.

Berak: I agree with you when you said you should have just kept quiet for 3 hours instead of telling the seller about the other knife. That is, of course provided you intended on following through on the I'll take it.

It is clear that this rubbed the Seller the wrong way. I understand that. As I said in my earlier post, it is the honor system that keeps the exchange running so smoothly. I believe that you are sincere in your apology. I think the thing that has so many rankled here is your continuing defense of the "it was only three hours and I would have paid for it" thing. It insinuates that you do not fully understand and/or care about the honor of your word. I certainly hope that you do.
In the future, I hope that you will be completely clear and honest if you choose to use the exchange. If you need time to work two deals simultaneously, say so. The worst that will happen is someone will say no. It would save the eleventybillion pages this thread has taken up.

I hope that you see I am trying to be objective and fair to you. I have no dog in this fight and I have used the exchange just once to buy a knife but it was a wonderful process and hopefully we can all keep it that way if we use our heads and best judgement.

Another point, and this is just sour grapes I guess at this point, but I see where other members have actually payed for an item and then asked for their money back and others where they actually did cancel. I would not have canceled just because I found a better deal, and I told the seller that. It may be a subtle nuance but the only other knife I was after was different model altogether. They weren't treated as harshly nor as quickly as I was which I find a little baffling.

Yes, I screwed up, too. But I claimed at the first mention it was my fault, I've learned from that immediately, apologized myself and didn't troll about it for two weeks while promising I'll stay out of the Exchange or delete my account. I'd be glad if you didn't compare your and my screw-ups after the show you've put up on here.

I was paying within 3 hours, is that "holding" it? Really? What if I didnt even see the email till the next day? I find it absurd to expect payment within 1 hour. You know on EBay how long a seller must wait before he can file a non payment? 1 week.

Yes, you have time to pay when you win an auction on eBay.
The big difference is you still HAVE to pay. You can't change your mind and not suffer a non-pay strike if the seller decides to give you one. Get enough of them and eBay will delete your account.
Saying I will take it here is very comparable to winning an auction on eBay IMO.

Berak will go on and on about how he was going to pay anyway. Of course, we have no proof that notion is true, and neither did the seller. We have only Berak's word, which has proven consistently unreliable.

If he was going to pay anyway, there was no need to mention another knife. All he had to do was say, "I'll get you your funds in three hours." However, the seller notes that Berak "asked me to wait a couple hours to see if [he] could score a different NMFBM [he] liked better."

Berak does not dispute this statement. To most folks with any sense, it is clear that Berak was weighing one or the other as an option--not deciding to buy two knives instead of one.

Promising? Lol. I said I would delete it, the admin said they don't do that. Stating what I have is just showing my point of view and is not "trolling" as the term would properly be used. I gues now your "trolling" since you added your comment. The "show" is being mostly run by the regulars. I didn't post for several days but the thread didn't go anywhere. My replies were for TanRichGuy who seems to have a better grasp of reality.

Guyon: What does it matter what I would dispute? I am conistently unreliable since I swore a blood oath I wouldn't post here and delete my account, lol. Get real, stick to what matters, is it that important that I posted after I said I wouldn't? Are you really that hung up on yourself and "your word is your bond" such that everything someone says must be taken as a sworn promise?

Exactly, and since I was going to pay, having no chance at the other knife (not a NMFBM) it would never have been an issue. Also, I would have one week to decide, not a few hours. Is that hard to grasp?

I "won" the auction. I then decided I might cancel before sending funds, but I never did cancel. Can the seller contact eBay and say "Berak said he might not pay, I'm giving him negative feedback"?? No. They have to wait 1 week before any non payment can be filed and it doesn't matter one bit WHY I waited to pay. The seller canceled the order. Who would get the negative feedback on eBay?

Why would anyone believe anything you say at this point.

Really you should of at least taken a sabbatical. You are on here non stop now further ruining your reputation just like Frisky Dingo is.

Niether of you guys get it.

Excepting politicians, lawyers, crack addicts, Enron executives, and now you, yes I do tend to take people at their word and hold their reputations accountable.

You seem very fond of hypotheticals, so...

What if the other knife HAD worked out? Were you going to buy both knives in that case? Please answer the question directly.

The hypothetical was brought up, I was explaining how this would not have been an issue there.

If you read the emails and have been following this thread you should know the answer. No, I wasnt planning to purchase the first knife if and only this other knife, of a different style ( not just cheaper) was available. I never said any differnt.

You dont need to bother posting your opinion on that again for the umpteenth time. Ive alrady said it was my mistake, it shouldnt have happened, and it wont happen again even if I ever do try and buy on the exchange. This has been hashed over here enough I think.

And yet you continue to post about how the real moral point turns around how the seller retracted the sale. Who would blame him?

This whole thread started because he noted that you flaked (the honest truth) on a clearcut "I'll take it," and you took umbrage because of your wounded honor.

Hmmmm???

I guess I will just have my account deleted, no point in wasting any more time here.

I'll only be dealing with the company store and I've asked for my account to be deleted to save you all any more grief.

Like I said, it's not a big deal to me since I will only be buying from the store from now on.

I took umbrage at the way it was handled and immediacy of the condemnation with no chance to make it right.

Yes, I have no plans to buy on the exchange. If I should change my mind about that in the future, I will no doubt become the lowest creature on God's Earth for stating I wouldnt. I guess in your narrow little world no one can change their mind on even the most trivial of things like posting in a online thread without destroying their character. You have a myopic view of reality and should find something more important to care about.

Berak,

Bottom line is that a person is only as good as their word. Be careful of the words you choose as others perceive them as fact, not conjectural hypothesis. If you think that your word should not be construed as fact, then you are freely admitting your word is worthless. I am a man of my word, that is how I was raised. That is how I live. A vast majority of the members here are the same. Those who are not are the exception in this community.

Berak, this is not E-bay, we have more class than that!!!

When you say I'll take it, it is a done deal!!

No more excuses, you flaked

if you really believe all this, why are you still here?

and your attempts to minimize your dishonesty and deflect blame to everyone else is really quite pathetic.

Bottom line to this pile:

To normal people, especially in the knife community, "I'll take it" means only one thing. The knife is sold and payment is forthcoming. At that point, the seller and buyer are committed unless there was another commitment before the "I'll take it was posted". Anything else shows a lack of honesty when the person does not own up to their obvious intention.

To someone who will not take responsibility for their actions, I'll take it means nothing and they defend it when it has no logical defense as clearly indicated in this thread.

As far as the myopic view of reality that is quite ironic. Honor means much in this community and you have to be pretty ignorant to not see and understand that.

There is nothing trivial about communicating over the internet. You are still communicating with a real human being in the real world. The conversation is as real as speaking face to face.

You broke your promise plain and simple, and this is what this thread is all about.

If this guy isn't getting it by now, he never will.

A person with an inability to grasp the "I'll take it" concept, and not understand the necessity to follow through with that commitment at a knife forum where virtual handshake deals are made daily between trustworthy members who must rely on the honor of each other in a buy/sell transaction, has no place here as far as I'm concerned. It's not my call to make, but this guy's fifteen minutes should have been up fifteen minutes ago.

I wouldn't do business with you, Berak. Notta chance.

As I wouldnt with many who have posted in this thread, so you wont be given the chance.

Wow- can't believe this guy is digging his BF grave even deeper? I thought this thread would have died days ago. I want to say give up, but at the same time, reading through this thread has been somewhat entertaining- I'll take it!
