Kershaw Knives News Thread

Hey Jamarlatt,

Nice buy! I agree, the Bump is surprisingly a great cutter...design and functionality coming together. Congrats on the ZT200. Give us a review of the knife when you get it.

Yeah, it will be nice when the new website is up and running.
PsiOps I will definitely post a review after I get the zt0200.

I've been looking at some descriptions of this knife and have seen several that state that this model is a "framelock". All of the Leeks that I've seen and I own two different models, have liner locks. Is the framelock new or a misprint?

All of the Leeks I have seen are "Framelocks".

Sure you arn't confusing them with the "Scallions", which in the most part are liner locks?:)

The stainless steel Leeks are framelocks. The aluminum and FRN Leeks are liner locks (because you can't use that material as a lock).

Has anyone ever taken apart a speed safe knife. I was thinking of taking my speed bump apart to clean it but am unsure about putting it back together and having the speed safe still work.

Are you pretty good at reassembling stuff you take apart? The Speedsafe is pretty straight forward if you remeber where everything goes.

Thanks Jeremy, I guess if all else fails and I can't get it back together I can send it to Kershaw. But I think I can get it back together after I get it apart, I was just curious ( before I actually take it apart) if there were any tricks I needed to be aware of. Thanks again, and may I just add I love this thread. I really like all the Kershaw information and being able to talk to fellow Kershaw enthusiasts.

If you do take it apart one thing is make sure the blade is open when you do to release the tension on the torsion bar.

Another very nice offering to wait for...PE S30V Blur!!! Hmm...Blur...Lahar...Blur...Lahar...

Thanks to Thomas for the info.

I've been waiting for this one ever since they brought out the PS version. And I can't wait to check out the Lahar. It has some great looks and I like the recurve blade.

BTW. Thomas I hope Kershaw relises what an asset they have in you. Your promotion of Kershaw and the use of better steels and innovative designs over the past year or so has really changed my thinking on Kershaw knives.

My favorite Kershaw's are the 1614 XXL Starkey Ridge. My Question is,"Where is Starkey Ridge?, and why was it important enough to name a big knife after?"
Fudo, I had meant to get back to you earlier with answering this.
As some of you may know the Model #3000 D.W.O's, were knives that we had made in remembrance of Delley Wade Officer who was a Game Warden killed in a hunting accident.
These 3000 series knives were all named for Oregon locations around the area where the tragedy occurred.
3100 Grant County
3115 Corral Creek
3120 Black Gulch
3140 Wildcat Ridge
The 1400 series Starkey Ridge was another knife named after a similar location

Jim70, It pleases me that you have a new found appreciation for our line, thanks.

I had a very slight hint of our new Lee Williams flippers a page or so back, nothing???? I think this thread must be too long. The NRG's is worthy of a thread of it's own. Wow, what a duo.

I LOVE Lee Williams work!! I think mentioning THAT knife deserves it' own thread.

I just experienced my first bad cut with a knife :(

I was opening a package, and I followed through too hard and the knife slipped off the box and into my hand. Deep cut on the meaty part of the side of my hand. Don't know if I need stitches...

I am a little afraid of how easliy my Grey Ti Bump cut through me! It was my fault though, and I am sure it will happen again some time.

Has anyone checked out my ZT0400 Review? http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=440972
Good work on this great knife Thomas, keep em coming!

Thanks Garett, I was going to as someone if I needed to have the blade open or closed when I tak it apart.

I need to quit using the internet until I get a job. Everytime I get on BF, I want to spend more money. I loke the looks of the Lahar.

As far as cuts go, I've gotten a few good ones from my balis but none compare to the "bilateral thumb abrasion" I received from a grinder at school.

I was at Wal-Mart today and found some neat Kershaw knit hats in the sporting goods area for just under $5.00. Would be a cool, cheap gift for a fellow Kershaw knife nut.

Jeremy.

Very good review, as a matter of fact I handled a 0400 today, very nice knife I will most likely buy one soon. I have the 0100, the 0200 and the 301, all very fine knives.

Jeremy, just curious did you end up getting stitches? I was opening a box one time and the knife slipped and stabbed me right between the index finger and thumb. It was pretty wicked you could basically see the inner workings of my left hand, that is until the bleeding started.
